I wonder if this all a ruse, and they secretly have a million of these which they are going to dribble out a batch at a time.

To buy or not to buy cuz I don't really want it.

Buy it, look at in person, and if you don't like it, return it to Target or trade it?

@herbyderby I think you're right. Or maybe their inventory is such a mess that they don't know how many they have.

Potentially they could have canceled the orders of people who tried to circumvent the limit and order more than one, and that's why they have a bunch back in stock as well.

Or they did not sell well at SW Celebration and they are selling them to the public here.

Picked up #75216 Snoke's Throne Room for $55 at Target. Got the $10 gift card and used it to get the Lego Movie 2 XboxOne game for $10.

target app will let you buy more than one - just one at a time.    zero cancelled at this point.   and all my uk friends are getting one for Christmas!  yay!

After all the headaches around this thing, I think I've decided that I don't even want to bother with it - even for resale. Meh.

Was at Celebration, and I can say that's not the case. LEGO had a line aroud there booth all day long, and the bust was the only exclusive they had. I personally know somebof the employees that were working there, and they said they wouldn't have enough. One person  would scan in line  and when you went up to get with a different person. They told me I could of gotten in the 2nd line, and claim my phone died and they would still give one out.

$10 Gift card when you spend $50 on Lego this week. Looks like it’s not on sets over $100
That seems like a weird restriction. The key with these offers is to try to spend as little over $50 as you can, thus maximizing your discount :)
Target loves those deals rather than a straight percentage discount, whatever the product. Maybe because they make some of it back when using the GC.
And some manufacturers make it difficult for retailers to offer deals on that brand.
As little over the limit as necessary is indeed the way to go but that can be difficult while still getting a good deal on stuff you want. For example, I'm thinking of a $39.99 set but would need to spend $14.99 or so in practice rather than $10.01 in theory.

#31092 and #41383 30% clearance but not on the GC deal
Looks luke the SW 20th anniversary sets not included in the GC deal

The GC deal is really obtuse. They say “valid on sets as marked” or something like that, but the person putting out the special shelf tags apparently didn’t get them all correct. Further, I had two employees tell me that clearance items might not be included ( she scanned them for me and indicated they were included), and that Architecture sets were sometimes not included (but the shelf tags indicated otherwise). So, the computer may have been right in my case, but the employees had no hope of figuring it out, so they just gave me the card.

^ Same here. Some clearance items are tagged, some are not. Cashiers say none are eligible. Polys not eligible. Avengers and Star Wars 20th anniversary sets are not eligible. Tags are on some of these. I gave up after trying couple of combinations. Didn't need anything particular anyways.

That’s good news no more paying double or jumping through hoops for exclusives, vader bust seems to be the last exclusive.

^Technically, the Vader Bust was an event exclusive. Event exclusives are not going to be distributed worldwide. Yes, I know, it was also sold through Target, but even then, you could only buy online with the Red Card.

^It was mentioned because it was the most recent "regional exclusive" and they got a lot of complaints about it. That is why I said it was "technically" an event exclusive. The whole Target thing muddied the waters :)

I would normally agree with this but kind of odd they give the date of May 1st as no longer having regional exclusives.  They could have easily said June 1st.  Unless they are planning to release the Dtagon Boat Race on April 30th.

Target did the same thing with the Brickhedz. I haven't ordered a non-exclusive Lego set from Target in awhile; is this normal for Target to place these stickers on the boxes?

None of my Target exclusives have had that bar code sticker, so I'd say it is not completely normal. Not the 2 Brickheadz and not the Vader Bust. I can't say I remember it on any other sets I've gotten from them either.

This is in stark contrast to Barnes & Noble which puts tags and RF security devices with VERY aggressive adhesive on every single set, even from mail order.

I've had those stickers on all the store pickups I have ordered through Target. The Target store is not even a  mile away, so I've never had them ship anything direct to my house.

Ah... interesting point. Mine were all shipped directly to my house. Wouldn't be surprised if that particular bar code sticker is for the ship-to-store items so the store can track it.

For the Vader bust, pickup was not offered as an option - at least not for me.

In my experience, at least the BN security and price stickers are always on the bottom near the UPC. I’ve never felt the need to remove those. It’s obvious why loss prevention stickers would be hard to remove. The clearance stickers they use are easily removed.

^I thought that too and it's possible, but they had like five or six of the tron sets and two of the ship in a bottle. Tron also shows in stock in three stores in my area.

I went to a store in CA earlier this year that had those Ideas sets (same store??).  They also had a bunch of Architecture sets, some that I hadn't seen other stores carry up until that point (Statue of Liberty, which I've seen at other stores since then, and The Great Wall, which I still haven't seen at other stores).  They also had the Porsche 911 RSR, which was brand new at the time, and is still a set I don't see too often at Target.  Add to that, they had some of the TLM2 Emmet polys WAY before other stores.  I was as surprised as you were.  That store's buyer must be ahead of the game, or at least trying to cater to more than the average Lego customer.

Is that in Northern California? What you described is pretty much what's in the store I'm talking about lolz. I have seen Statue of Liberty in other stores but not The Great Wall nor the Porsche, apart from where I took that pic.

This. They started stocking Architecture, Ideas, and a lot more Technic after TRU closed. At least around here, their LEGO shelf space increased around 40%.

Nope, down in SoCal.  This was months back and I only went to that store once.  I've been to other stores north of it numerous times afterwards but haven't seen any of them carry Ideas sets.  Even their Architecture sets were much more limited than that unicorn store.  I have seen the RSR at 1 or 2 other stores since then, though.

Target seems to have expanded their 'popculture etc' area in general to replace the CD and shrinking DVD market. Lego ideas and architecture seemingly is part of that strategy.
