This is my first attempt at video editing. A little film I put together to try and promote my LEGO Ideas project, The Old Workhorse, Traction Engine.

    Hi everybody,

I would like to present you my new video of my lit up city "Bricksonville":
It shows the highlights for welcome travellers but shouldn't be taken too seriously. ;)

It take me a few weeks of work so I hope you enjoy it :)

    Feel free to comment!

Wow! Impressive. How many lights and kilometers of wires are used?

Thank you! :) I use lights from different sellers... But most of the lights are from "light my bricks" by now.

Most recent video is the third build in a series on the LEGO Creator Drone Explorer set.

I'm actually going to try and be helpful...

I think your script could use a little work, especially at the beginning. Give an individual rating on the set, each figure, and then an overall rating.

Your photo and video quality are outstanding though, really nice work there.

I think @samiam391's review could use better spacing and perhaps better flesh out his format suggestions for the video.

Very succinct on the praise, so as not to lose the reader's attention.

Overall - 3.5 out of 4 stars.  Excellent review.

Oops. Meant to start a new discussion thread. Sorry!
I suspect you did, and the mods combined it into this one. There are these generic threads to avoid peppering the forum with new threads for every new video, photo, Ideas submission, MOC, etc that people wish to share.

I see you recreated a new thread anyway - that'll likely get closed, I expect.

Thanks for your kind words and the feedback! I'll think about the rating thing, usually I don't like to give grades but I guess I can try and see if I'm capable of an objective rating. If I may press further, could you tell me what you thought needed more work about the script in the beginning? Was is not enough context or something like that? Did it just sound kind of off?
    Thanks again!

I thought it was a great review. I'm sure Jang's will be 20+ mins for this so it was nice to get it distilled down to 5 mins or so. Only comment I'd have is where you mention what other set Leia was in. Theres not many people who have all the 5-digit codes memorized, so it would have been helpful to say what the set was as well. Obviously that isn't a big deal though.

For me, the biggest flaw of the set is those stickers at the front, especially as the prior one was printed  so that might have been worth a mention.

Obviously it's easy to sit back and pick at very minor points on what must have been a lot of hard work bu you. You pretty much knocked it out he park as far as I'm concerned.

I think the actual video production was brilliant. I usually don't watch reviews because they can be long and I get bored, so this short review was a nice change. A rating would be welcome, but not a necessity. I do think you need to end each review with: Buy three One to open, One to keep sealed and One "just in case". ;)

Agreed on all your feedback, and I greatly appreciate it. Next time I will try to adapt and use all your points. The hardest part will be a rating. I usually love any LEGO set just because it's LEGO, so it'll be a learning experience for me :D

Now, I promised a review of this thread (I take not being serious very seriously): It started off lighthearted and humorous, which works well to capture the audience's attention and get us to relate to the people posting in it. Well done. It may have even tried to play a subversive game, getting you to feel bad for the person who started the discussion because they got laughed at. But that soon proved to be just a narrative tool, a way to draw you in even more so that when the twist is revealed it is much more impactful: the breakthrough moment when people came together and did something great for each other through their opinions and advice. It was heartwarming and everyone learned something. I hope they make a sequel!

I'm the kind of person that goes for the long reviews so I can get more detail on the set. However, your review covered pretty much everything it needed to without feeling rushed or lacking. Excellent work! Your studio also looks fine to me. It makes your video more recognizable.

My wife and I attended the Bricks By the Bay convention earlier this year.  This was our first attempt at putting together a video of this kind of thing.  Usually our videos have more talking in them but the LEGO speaks for itself!

I only just recently got into Lego. My first purchase was the Downtown Diner. I absolutely loved it. After finishing Part 1 I thought about filming the build. And here it is. Parts 2-5. I'm currently working on building the Parisian Restaurant and have filmed all of those parts so far so looking forward to putting that all together soon!
