I spent the day re-working the "seek-and find" vignettes. I'll have 52 total around the layout. The top of this picture is "Dinner diners to be dino dinner". To the left, you can see the ostrich walker. The bridge, "escarpment"  and fishing village were the big additions to the layout last year.  Nothing new and big this year.

@ecmo47 I have to say, #10243 looks really good positioned like that. The chimney works well directly above the escarpment.

Thanks. Moving the PC to the end of the street so that the diners would have a nice view was the wife's idea. Of course, I had to add the T-rex to ruin the bucolic scene.

I'd move that over to the Downtown Diner for a post-dinner donut and add an old-fashioned top hat... Dainty dapper dinner diners with a delicious Dutch delicacy to be dino dinner at the Downtown Diner.  Definitely deft!  Or daft?

And are they from Dover, Delaware?

    (BTW, I haven't had a drink.  I swear.)

I'm kicking myself for not getting the flying monkeys when they were available, they are crazy expensive on BL at the moment. I still need to get Dorthy, Tinman, Cowardly Lion and the Wicked Witch (from BL) but I'm hoping to do a MOC similar to @PJ76uk at some point.

Great work @PJ76uk!  I have plans to do something similar on a 16x32 BP for my city - now that I see yours, I may have to swap out the tiles for ingots.  Looks phenomenal!

If Lego produce anymore WoO minifigures I may need to extend to a 16x32 baseplate! The ingots do look better than a mix of plates and tiles for a cobblestone road, I would imagine similar success with grey coloured ingots for an old fashioned town/city street.

It seems like a lot of people will be doing something very similar. Its a nice way to display the minifigures. I just received my ingots and 1x1 tiles from BnP so I can begin.

I've just finished building the quinjet from the Captain Marvel set, #76127. An enjoyable, if short, build with a nice end result. It's quiet militaristic, but is an obvious forerunner to later quinjet designs, with a few things in common with the design from #6869 (it's quite a bit smaller though).  My only criticism is that the fuselage is very square when looked at head on - from this view it reminds me a bit of the dropship from Aliens. Oh, and I feel that there are too many stickers, especially as they are all the clear type.

The minifigures from the set are fine. I prefer the previous (non MCU) Captain Marvel and I think this one would have been better with printed legs, but I like the detail on the torso. The Fury figure is great though and the generic design could come in useful elsewhere. Talos is okay, but a little bland and the head is too green.

Finished building a few old Star Wars sets. Original RotS line from 2005 still stands as my single favorite line from Lego without a doubt

Finally built the last of my Avengers Infinity Wars sets, #76108 Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown. I do like the set, however the scale is just off for me. The Sanctorum in the films is an imposing building whilst this set just seems.... small.

I don't know if my recent foray into the Expert Modulars range has spoilt me but I really did imagine the set as grand as #10232 Palace Cinema.

I think my next project is converting it to a more modular style, but to do it justice it needs to be bigger than anything I've built before. Hope I'm up for the challenge!!

Just completed this modular style Piano House & Cafe, designed by Michael Kim.

The model can be created with 2 sets of #31026 (bar the 32x32 baseplate and street tiles), though I use only 1 set plus my own bricks as too lazy to open another 31026.

@PJ76uk Well, #76108 Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown is a Creator style building, not Creator Expert ;)

This MOC (not mine!) might help you to modify it into a proper modular, although you might want to make the Sanctum Sanctorum side larger.

Started my Docking Bay 327 which will eventually live in a coffee table to house the Millennium Falcon.  The trick is going to be keeping this project a secret from The Oversight Committee until it's done. Won't be easy; this thing is deceptively large: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-0631/jmfbtb/lego-docking-bay-327-for-ucs-falcon/#comments

    that will look amazing.
  • MrJacksonMrJackson Member Posts: 454
Turns out, there are a lot of unstable connections in the Docking Bay 327 build - you can tell it's a fan MOC (an amazing one at that) as there are a number of spots that aren't supported, particularly the hinged sections that support the angled walls at the bottom. May have to spot-glue select attachment points, which for as much as I hate to do, seems to be the surest option. It definitely would have no chance of passing the design team, as the number of times subassemblies exploded or gave out as I was building has been high. Still, really looking forward to continue working on it the next few nights, especially as I've been itching to build the MilF but don't want to start that project until the coffee table that it will live in is completed.  I'll start posting pictures as I go.

That docking bay looks awesome. I'd love to build it but then I'd have to build a new table and convince the wife to let me buy the parts :P

Something that would look cool would be if there was a way to add blue LEDs to the bay door opening to simulate the force field.

@mustang69 no need to convince her if she doesn't know to begin with. That's how I got my Lego City built: took a personal day one day last May, had a friend over to help, and put the table together.  When my wife got home from work and bemoaned how big the layout was, I simply said it was too big to move and that it would therefore have to stay. It hasn't taken even 4 years of marriage for me to learn to present this kind of stuff as a fait accompli. As for the LEDs, I keep seeing on Facebook and elsewhere ads for this exact set, complete with lights, which of course isn't genuine Lego bricks to begin with. So I'm sure it's doable but not a Pandora's Box I want to open.

I'm at a point where there is so much stuff, it's not difficult to hide anything.

I have a bigger problem hiding the furniture and storage for the LEGO.

I thought that once, turns out all things are seen, nothing ever truly hidden. Then one day something new turns up, and if protested all those "hidden" things are suddenly exposed. Custer was lucky.

Fortunately, my wife steers clear of that half of the basement, of which a good portion of it will be my son's play area and the rest is my (and in time his, by default and design) city.  I need to take a trip to IKEA to get bookshelves for our stuff and storage/play cubbies for him, which is why it's full-speed-ahead on the MilF coffee table: I need to get it done before we go so she doesn't get the idea of buying a coffee table and end table set for the basement.  She once said that I'm "not putting a Millennium Falcon coffee table in the living room" to which I quietly nodded.  The plan was always for it to be in the basement in front of the couch that is down there.

Also, there has been some kind of work in progress for who knows how long now at this point, so hopefully she doesn't think twice about the boxes of gray pieces that are newly in view since I started this on Friday.

Well, so much for keeping this under wraps. To be fair, it's gigantic and wasn't going to stay hidden. Conversation went something like this, yesterday morning as I was waking up and my wife was dressed and getting ready for work:
Wife: "What are you building now?"
Me: (swearing to myself for leaving it out) "That's the Death Star Docking Bay."
    W: "Uh it's huge."
M: "Nah, it's not that big. Plus it's going to get trimmed down."
W: "Looks pretty big to me."
    M: "Nice to hear."
W: glares at me angrily at that comment

Here's how that conversation would have ended in my house...

W: "Looks pretty big to me."
    M:  "That's what she said."
