    New question......food, where did LEGO feed you from? Did they cater in? Did you eat at a restaurant?

    The whole time you are actually on the tour you will be fed and watered well, at least at the main mealtimes and sometimes in between. You should get:
    • Breakfast in Hotel Legoland on each day of your tour. And if you extend your stay for an extra night or two then breakfast should be included in the extension. It’s a buffet so you can really load up for the day!
    • Lunch on day 1 and day 2, maybe some lunchtime snacks on day 3 but not a full meal. We had our lunch on day 1 inside the original Ideas House/Ole’s House in a function area and had our lunch on day 2 in a staff canteen in the main customer service ‘campus’
    • Dinner on day 1 in either the Legoland Hotel or Lego House, and dinner on day 2 inside the Park after closing time. We ate at the western steakhouse and it seems that’s the most common choice. You should have chance to chat to some designers whilst eating on both dinner days, depends on who’s available. I was able to chat closely to Hans and Jordan about their Star Wars UCS, and Sam and Mel were also close to hand I seem to remember. Jamie was swamped with uber-fans as expected ;) Was hoping to see ‘Zumbi’ But he wasn’t around at all during my tour.
    The designers also seem to have a borderline obsession with the Lego Fries - French fries shaped like 2x4 bricks. Served at most venues around and about but particularly the hotel. Expect quite neutral cuisine with a Scandinavian flavour. For example, I had a cured meat and salad large roll for my lunch on the first day. (Steakhouse excluded)

    Talking food, my son and I will be arriving the night before the tour and staying an additional day after. Are there any restaurants outside of Legoland that someone can recommend?

    I recommend the Bakery and Cafe, it is down the street from the LEGO House.

    The bakery & cafe is good and right in the centre of town, but I would also recommend a meal at the Hotel Propellen even if you aren’t staying there. They have really good continental dishes with a Scandinavian flavour and it’s a pleasant change from the endless burgers and things around the parks -if that’s what you’re going for.

    If you’re just after snacks during the day there’s a good hot dog type stand in the area near the Lego House, as well as a great place selling ice creams just hidden in a road behind the bakery cafe. There’s also a coffee shop on the main road just opposite the Legoland park entrance which can be handy before a long day ahead, including a travelling day!

    Huh, I'll have to take a peek at that next time I'm there, I only recall a bus stop and trees at the other side of the road :-)

    We had a nice pizza at Ristorante Bellini, and the Billund Pizza/Steakhouse right next to the Bageri and Lego House wasn't too bad either. I think Bellini was better though. And they accept cards. ;-)

    I'm getting more and more excited for this. I finally booked my London to Billund flights yesterday - flying out the evening of September 10th, and back the morning of Sept 14th. Just need to sort out the extra nights at the hotel now!

    I'm going to throw this out there for the fun of it. I read recently that 2019 is the 40th anniversary of Fabuland. Given that the line made an appearance in TLM2, my prediction for our exclusive Inside Tour set is that it will be Fabuland related. :)

    That would be hard to achieve without introducing numerous new moulds. That doesn't seem like something they would do for Inside Tour Alone. So I don't share your expectations.

    They could possibly do a tribute to Fabuland, using Chima heads with new printing.

    Fabuland is my guilty pleasure, but hard to do well in an inside your set I guess. So pirates would be very nice to get as an inside tour set. They could've saved themselves some time and use that Lego Ideas set that recently hit 10k votes :-D

    - The machines in the production are now so automatic that one operator can handle two machines at a time. (We’ve already had an injection moulding machine set though)

    1969
    - 12V Trains were introduced
    - Duplo was launched (pretty important)
    - The first LEGOLAND film is made (mini early Legoland would be awesome)

    1979
    - Space first introduced
    - Fabuland first introduced
    - Scala first introduced

    1989
    - Dacta (under that moniker) introduced
    - Pirates introduced

    1999
    - Star Wars introduced
    - Lego World Shop opens (to become [email protected])
    - First Lego-products only store opened (in Bluewater)

    2009
    - Lego Games introduced (can’t see that getting a massive celebration)

    ... but TLG don’t always tie anything into a particular year so anything is on the table! (I also haven’t even covered the 30s and 40s but we have already seen toy duck and tractor exclusive models)

    Anyone know if the employee store gets newly released sets right away? Or does it take a while to see them there?

    Employee store had sets in it on 1st June in my year that were scheduled to be released on 1st June, perfectly on time, so it’s a safe assumption that they’re still keeping it up to date regularly. In fact I think the Apollo rocket was one of the sets that had just been released at the time.

    This was my experience too. That said, when I went in spring of 2015 the big store at Legoland Billund featured an early debut of some sets (like the summer Friends sets and Ninjago "Airjitzu" sets) that had not yet been "officially" released and were not available at the employee store.

    Indeed - only last year in 2018 I went to Billund during mid-late April and they were already retailing the Summer Ninjago ‘Rescue the Dragons’ line complete with Iron Baron Dieselnaut and Oni Titan (I think it was almost like a leak when I posted a pic online). They were also selling Ninjago City Docks early. I’m wondering whether it’s something that happens for Ninjago every year because they run Ninjago themed weekends at Billund in the Spring.

    You'd also have to build one-handed too.  Maybe a leg would be better? :)

    ^ That was my thought too! Maybe sell the other leg for a really good wheelchair- with a built-in LEGO table!

    This might be a little "off topic". My son and I were thinking of bringing a little of America to Denmark and Ireland with us to give as gifts or remembrances to people we meet along the way. Any ideas of small tokens of America that cannot be gotten over there?

    ^ Sweets/confectionary - it’s quite hard to find many genuine American brands in Europe. I’m not personally a fan of Hershey’s chocolate but I do love quite a few other things America makes that can satisfy a sweet tooth. Just trying to think of something that’s easy for you to take with you and that most people will appreciate as a ‘piece of America’. Besides a Bean There Donut That set of course.

    I'm bringing some peanut butter M&Ms and some Oreo cookies and creme Easter eggs with me. Not sure what else yet.

    When bringing American chocolate to Europe, just make sure it doesn't contain butyric acid. It gives chocolate a taste that to a lot of Europeans (but not all!) feels like vomit ;) When American colleagues visiting our office bring chocolate, it lasts a looooooong time.

    Also keep in mind that quite a few of your fellow Inside Tour participants will also be from the US. So instead of bringing some "generic" sweet, why not bring a local specialty? (that will be alowed through customs)

    Thanks for the ideas. We will be in Denmark for 8 days and going to Ireland for another 10 days so we are also looking for ideas for people we meet all along the way, not just the tour. We've never been to Europe - so excited. Wish we could have extended even longer.

    Aha, I read that as two separate things! We do have Cadbury Oreo eggs, two kinds - one with a harder filling like the Cadbury Oreo chocolate bar, and one that comes in a mini egg carton with a spoon, where the inside is more soft. They're both delicious; I wonder if the American version you're talking about is any different!

    I am also on the May tour (from UK), just me... but as a family we came back from Billund on Saturday having spent a few days there so i'll have been twice in 3 weeks. Lego have been just amazing and made my season pass available for the first trip which i'm very thankful for.

    Does anyone know if any of the special sets eg. LEGOLAND sets / Legohouse restricted sets will be in the employee shop ? obviously I can buy them on the last day from legoland/Legohouse if they're not in the employee shop but wondered if anyone knew.

    We did the park on 3 days and house on 2 days... so feeling very Lego satisfied right now, and built up a shopping list for next week too :)

    The Lego house sets aren't in the employee store but the legoland ones probably will be.

    If youve got a local sports team or a famous product from chesterfield or the state they'd make nice gifts especially kid versions of sports clothing- t-shirts more than official brand, if your in munster on your Irish leg maybe we could meet

    Thanks, truck370. Love the suggestions but Chesterfield is a small town in Virginia. Not famous for anything and no sports teams. I got some un-circulated Virginia State Quarters and going to order some peanuts (VA is famous for it's large peanuts). Still searching for other ideas.

    The only thing planned for Ireland at this time is Dublin (June 16-18) then Ennis (June 18-20). We are still trying to map out our road trip from June 20 - 25. Munster looks beautiful and would love to meet a fellow Bricksetter.
