    I have become very obsessed with Duplo lately. For my last lug meetup (London AFOLS) we had that massive Statue of Liberty Head Burg thing to build. However I took a suitcase of Duplo with me to build Aliens instead. Lots of fun.

    Right? It's really the only option for a bunch of basic Duplo bricks that you need to make the types of creatures featured in the film. I actually browsed TRU's shelves, looking for a set with the rounded 2x4 bricks with eyes to make the ostritch(?) and the little flying ones from... but all of the sets currently available are very specialized, with like farm elemets or houses (and...Jurassic World Duplo! Who knew?). There's legit no other 'basic Duplo bricks' set out there, besides the TLM2 set. 

    Buying more will have to wait until I've finished off the theme though. I'll see how strong the desire still is in May, after shelling out for another pile of new sets (I can't freaking wait to get #70838 and #70839). 


    You could give LCS a call and ask for some bricks. This was also the advice a member of staff at the Cologne Lego Store gave me!

    Right! I have to do an order for several bricks soon, actually. I've just been putting off figuring out their codes. I never thought to look in B&P for Duplo bricks. Good call, thank you! :D

    Cleaning bin lego ie. Lego i find dumped ,I can't see it cast away like that and it isn't beat up either ,also reading post of someone who has 40000 plus dollars worth of Lego left behind after a collector passing away and has me thinking what would wife do to shift my lot that She HATES, sorry if this sounds morbid

    Took my kids to see The Lego Movie 2 at the local cinema, not as good as the original I thought but my 6yo son loved it, his little sister less so!

    Wife enjoyed trying to spot the CMFs I collected and framed weeks ago!

    Unsure if BnP will work; the staffmember told me to just call and ask for a bunch of 2x2 and 2x4s in standard colours (red/blue/yellow), and to explicitly state that you regret that there is no box of basic bricks for sale anymore. That should be cheaper than order them at BnP, if available.

    What is wrong with a Duplo set like #10865? Sure there are some printed eyes and a boat hull hull but it's mostly basic parts. My 20 month old loves it for just stacking 2*2 bricks together.

    I assumed there was some level of regional availability of something at play, I see plenty of sets like that fairly regularly in shops around me.

    That said I really like all the licences Duplo sets that are around, I buy some for figures/animals and give all the bricks to my son, so it feels like double prizes!

    It's listed on S@H. I just didn't see it at TRU when I looked. They may have just been out of stock? That's more along the lines of what I was looking for though, yes. The eye prints are a good thing, as I'm just wanting to make creatures. :)

    Visited Milestones Museum near us for the annual LEGO display. This year is buildings bring attacked by monsters. TBH it was a little disappointing. Once we'd seen one skyscraper or tower block they started getting samey! My daughter wasn't as interested as previous years with fantasy beasts or animals.
    Of the 26 buildings only a handful had monsters on them and a lot of the buildings we'd never heard of. They were impressive builds, but not really the right theme for kids. They also didn't have the usual group build or minifig build and take.

    It was the first 18 rated film I'd managed to get into, a few months after I'd left home at 16 to join the military and had some taller and older looking friends.

    I could have done without the reminder that it was 40 years ago though........

    It was really good. The film is oddly grainy in places and crystal clear in others. But the 2hrs shot by. Still stands up as one of the best tension/suspense films. I need to watch Aliens now as well.
    I was a whole 2.5yrs old so missed it in the cinema too!

    It's Polybag season in Canada, Polybags are everywhere. Still can't find the Lucy or Emmet Polybags though.

    Right?! I was full jonesing for #30340. All of the Americans on here are all "Oh yeah, my Walmart has eight million on clearance", and I hadn't even seen it in shops once yet. I finally came across an endcap with them just this last week. It full made my day! :D

    Still no sign of #30527 nor #30529, but I'm hoping they pop up soon. I totally forgot to preorder the damned game though, so I think #30620 is a pass for me. I already have a pile of those little Star guys though (with yet more to come with the wave 2 sets), so I can deal without it.

    The alt builds for Metalbeard are rubbish, tbh. The, uh, 'boat' form barely stands upright. The main build is alright, but it's just a simplified version of his crab form in #70836. It's great for kids who don't get him in a larger set (everyone needs some Metalbeard in their collection!), but not a stand out in it's own right by any means. I grabbed a couple just to swap out the hats (with the shiny printed skull and crossbones) with the simple white ones on the Metalbeard models from the original Lego Movie sets.

    I honestly think it makes a decent parts pack, I mean there's a nice selection of robot arms and tooth/spike elements, plus that head piece MB uses for his metalbeard looks like it has some nice uses and this is the cheapest set to get it in.

    Made up a £50 bricklink order then realised it was a £2.50 min lot value!  As I was on a mere £1.60 lot value decided to take out all the high value, low quantity, large easy to pick parts.  Now its a £20 order full of low value, high quantity small parts.

    Not being petty,  just following the rules. :)

    It coincides with Spring Time apparently. We typically see Polybags up North once or twice a year in large denominations from my past experiences. Usually through TRU Canada, but Wal-Mart has FINALLY been picking up the slack. I got a total of 10 Polybags from them this week alone, the Minecraft one, two of the three Ninjago Legacy based ones, two City sets with an extra of the Sky Police One because why not? The Creator Race Car and Pelican polys, MetalBeard's Mini Master-Building set, Emma's Bumper Cars and one of the random Town Rescue DUPLO polys, they sent me the one with the bird in it when I'd prefer to have the Policewoman, but it was via Wal-Mart.ca and I didn't see any DUPLO polybags at the one physical store I checked.

    Compared to TRU the only Polybag I found there was the very impressive LEGO Friends Tulips bag hanging around.

    It is so hard to get Polybags in Canada on a regular basis, if you don't find them within certain times of the year you are fresh out of luck in getting any of them.

    #30527 was a GWP at Mastermind Toys a few weeks back. I still fully expect it and #30529 to show up at Walmart in 3 months time. 

    I did pre-order the game from EB Games but they told me they did not receive their shipment of polybags. I'm supposed to check back this week.

    We don't have Mastermind here in Québec (shocking, I know). I really need to remember to check their site every now and again. They have some fun promos. 

    That would piss me right off. I've only a passing interest in the game itself. The only appeal was the poly promo. I hope they sort it for you. :/

    Still riding absolutely high on cloud 9 after a truly awesome Bricks Cascade! Three and a half full days of LEGO! The Portland (and surrounding area) LEGO community is such a fantastic one. The organizers of the convention did a truly wonderful job and as a first time attendee it was absolutely delightful in every way.

    We had 378 convention attendees and approximately 8,000 public visitors to the expo. Representatives from Bricklink, the Brothers Brick, and Beyond the Brick where there, but best of all we had three people from the LEGO Group in attendance! Stuart Harris, who is in charge of all the LEGO builds (both the builds from TLG and the MOCs showcased there), Jan Beyer from the AFOL Engagement Team, and Nico Vas senior designer on Ninjago and TLM2 sets! They were truly great to meet and talk to. The presentations from Stuart about the LEGO House and Nico about the design process behind Queen Watevra were absolutely spectacular.

    There were about 900 MOCs on display which by and large absolutely blew me away! I will try to post some photos soon.

    A really wonderful weekend and I absolutely cannot wait to go back again!

    Disappointed today. Found a #75928 JW Blue's Helicopter Pursuit for £6.25 in the reduced section at Tesco today. The box was beat up and there was potentially more sellotape than cardboard holding it together, but I bought it anyway figuring it had been bashed around it the warehouse. Sadly, I think it must have been a customer return, as every bag inside was open and the minifigures and raptor were missing as were a handful of smaller pieces that had probably fallen out of the box. However, I did gain a Chewit, Chewit wrapper, small plastic gun and a handful of fluff, so I guess it could have been worse. Needless to say, the set was quickly returned.

    Makes me wonder who accepts these returns!!
