Does anyone know if they give you the LEGOLAND ticket when you arrive for the first day of the tour, or do you get it early so you can go before the tour starts?
  • nicholassmomnicholassmom Member Posts: 28
From what I have read on the forum from last year, you can pick up your Legoland ticket before the tour if you arrive early.
  • nicholassmomnicholassmom Member Posts: 28
Does anyone know about when we will receive the invoice to pay for the tour? I've been checking my inbox daily and haven't seen it. Don't want to book flights, etc. until tour is paid for.
  • CoviCovi Member Posts: 339
@Russell844 They typically have everything ready for you at the hotel lobby before the Tour starts. I did this year the tour and arrived one day before my tour started. When I checked in the hotel I got a map with the NDA's to sign and some info about the tour schedule. Inside was also the Legoland pass.

I think I got my invoice for the Inside Tour in December quite close to Christmas, don't know whether things might've changed since then. FYI ensure your VIP card is connected to your Inside Tour because VIP points will be added from the cost of it. So from memory that means at least £65 worth of points. I don't know whether it's possible to combine with double points - seems unlikely as it's such a large sum and not part of S@H

Or maybe they see the bill and decide to wait ;)
Thank you, I really looking forward to it! Unlike most Norwegians I have not been in Billund yet, so I think I will stay a day exstra and go to Legoland answell :)

Just finished booking our flights. Will have a few extra days in Denmark and a little over a week in Ireland. If anyone has any suggestions on places to see, please let me know. Thanks.

Discoverireland.is would give a feel for what's on when ,it's a small enough place so Dublin -cork-Galway or Dublin -Belfast-derry , loathe to say but Dublin will be a must then tis what you're up for

I still have not gotten my invoice, but I see people get them at different times, probably depending on when they get picked out for the tour etc. Since I was a lucky loser and got the spot just before x-mas I assume that's why I have not gotten it yet.. Still would feel safer when the tour is paid that it is really happening ;) Strange feeling to be in a hurry to depart with 14500 DKK :P

I would email Astrid directly. She is wonderful and is always willing to answer any questions.

Thank you for the website. Definitely doing Dublin for a couple of days and Ennis is a must since that's where my father's family is from.

Thanks for the advise! This was a close shave :S I replied to the mail I got saying that I was signed up for the tour. After one week without reply, I posted here and followed your advise to send a mail directly to Astrid. She replied later that day, that there had been a error and that my reply for signing on had disappear even though I got a (automatic) reply that everything was OK, so they assumed I was not going :O Luckily she signed me back on and I got the invoice the day after, so now everything should be in order :D

So if you in the future get a seat on the tour and you have not gotten the invoice within 1-2 weeks send a mail to a real person (not a auto-reply account) and ask for it ;)

I also asked about VIP points, but she said they did not give any for the tour fee :S

So much looking forward to September :D

Question for vetran's of the tour......do you pack your own box at the employee store or do they do it for you? Also, did you get to take home your black bag? TIA
  • CymbelineCymbeline Member Posts: 579
Lego does the packing for you at the employee store. I got to keep my black Inside Tour Bag with all the goodies inside.

You have no say in which sets they ship? They just pack everything that fits in the box and the rest you must bring yourself?
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
You tell them what you'd like to go in the shipping box, and they'll do their best to make it all fit.
As a reminder for the dimensions of the box: it fits 2x Ninjago City.

During our tour last September, they literally gave each person the box you can ship home and people dragged it around the store like a shopping cart as they filled it to the brim! They block off all the adult clothing and branded “wares” (like luggage) section, as that is not available for purchase.

The box fits two Ghostbuster House boxes. I was able to also sneak some road plates and base plates between the LEGO boxes inside the shipping box. Then, you head to the checkout counter and they scan everything and re-pack the box before taping it up. We got ours delivered VERY quickly. Only took a couple of weeks or less to get to the USA.

We did keep our black bag.

Also, if you are planning to bring back more via the plane- be sure to literally check an empty bag. There aren’t many stores in Billund to buy luggage. You’d likely have to drive out 30-45 minutes to a Bilka to buy luggage. Luckily, we flew out of Copenhagen, so we picked up a new suitcase to check on the way there.

Follow up, can I bring my own black bag (from a previous visit) and will they ship it home in the box with all the other stuff?
  • HuwHuw Administrator Posts: 7,116
No need, they'll give you another.
  • LegoTTLegoTT Member Posts: 487
Huw is right. They are able to do magic with customs, which is great, but one of the caveats that comes with that magic is the inability to ship anything that wasn’t purchased at the store.

I understand that we do not have to pay customs on one box, but do the same apply to any additional boxes we decide to ship (those that we have to pay for the shipping our-self)?

^ Yes because you'll need to take it from the store to the post office yourself to post it, and then pay customs fees on arrival in Norway.

OK, thanks for your answer :) Just to be sure the first box is shipped by Lego for free without any customs fees upon arrival?! Paying for shipping and customs would most likely be so expensive so it eat up most of what you save in the shop :S

I am unsure if I am driving or flying in.. Driving is boring and takes time, but no problem to fit all the Lego in the car. Flying is quicker, but there could be a problem to fit all the Lego in the bags..

I finally got around to buying my San Francisco - London flights this morning. :) I still need to get the London to Billund portion, but I can tackle that later. Feeling real now!

I'm intending to arrive into Billund the evening of Tuesday September 10th (ready for the Wed morning start), and probably looking to leave Billund on Saturday 14th at some point, so I have a bit of time to look around Legoland and the Lego House by myself.

  • CymbelineCymbeline Member Posts: 579
We had a couple of hours when I was there last June.

I think the official limit is something like 2 hours but on my tour everyone was done by between 1-1.5 hours. I spent a while doing maths trying to work out what I could afford to buy and take back outside the main box - but there were loads of people splashing the cash on hundreds and hundreds of pounds worth more of Lego than me.

Yep- I believe I recall a two hour max, but everyone was finished much quicker. My recommendation is to make a quick currency conversion spreadsheet to put in your wallet (no electronic devices in the store- and they mean it!  Unless it’s an old fashioned calculator, of course).

I made a spreadsheet that converted every $10 DKK from 0 on up to $1,000 USD. Helped me calculate how much I was spending pretty easily. Was very easy to calculate each item’s rough USD price. Important to note the local sales taxes, etc, are included in the price of each item. No unexpected surprises there.

For those of you who have been to the employee store - is it pretty much like a regular Lego store with majority of the sets being current ones or are there special or retired inventory also?
  • ravendragonwingravendragonwing Member Posts: 193
When I went 2 years ago, it had current sets, some older, some parts are roped off and you cannot purchase (adult clothing, luggage). Had sets we cannot get in the US (Year of the Rooster set), some that were only available with purchase (Double Decker bus, VW Bug). They also had loose elements to buy by the bag. Prices were not amazingly great for the US buyers, they were really hit or miss. But the sets you could not get in the US were what I was aiming for.

  • The_RancorThe_Rancor Member Posts: 2,619
For polybag fetishists it’s a dream in the employee store - all the current and slightly older polybag selection were all available on a wall when I went there, which is unheard of elsewhere. You can also find things like Lego Store exclusive sets, and the Lego Education and Serious Play sets, not that many people in my group were buying them.

I doubt the Far Eastern market exclusive sets will be there, but you can live in hope
