Just gonna have to hope the sets turn up...
There is another on ebay for £900 as well, but that’s just pushing it too far!
Wonder if I could persuade the wife she doesn't really need/want hers and just share mine!
Overall, I really like it and even the other half commented on how good it looks, so it's currently being displayed on the living room coffee table.
The mechanism is interesting and I do hope that TLG do put this theme into production, as it will be very interesting to see where they take it.
My only quibbles are, similar to the review on BS, that the skins do leave a lot of the internals visible, but it's not a major problem and that swapping the skins looks to be a little bit fiddly, what with having to pull out all the attachments, without inadvertently damaging the skins.
Anyway, I'm going to swap the skin for the shark one shortly and see how that looks. Daughter #2 is especially looking forward to seeing that one! :-)
AFOLs often aim for a sense of realism that disguises the nature of MOCs as being assembled from bricks, such as by eliminating visible studs on builds. But sometimes, especially with functional builds like FORMA, I feel like that can actually lessen their impact. Many toy companies can make a motorized creature and make it totally seamless, hiding the intricate systems that make it function. But for Lego, I sort of think that allowing a glimpse at the internal intricacy of a functional model makes them more impressive as a display piece—non-FOLs will be able to see not just the finished product but also the work that went into making them function.
The shark skin looks excellent, but I think I still prefer the default Koi skin at the moment. I haven't tried the Splash Koi skin yet, though.
oh oh.....
I understand that the US shipments won't occur for another week or so, but I have changed mailing addresses since I ordered mine. is there any way to contact them and change the address? I surely don't want to lose this by having it sent to an old address.
anyone else tried to do this?
Will appeal to more and be one to put on display more to.
They send update emails saying they were looking into the damaged skins and the people affected by it will have delayed shipment.
I built it and it's on my desk. It's really nice as a desk accouterment
If you weren't able to buy the FORMA set that resulted from LEGO's first foray into crowdfunding and want to have a go at building it yourself, you can now download the instructions to do so.
