Oh...I meant the carousel promo.  Sorry for the lack of detail.

^ I’m hoping that carousel GWP reappears in the coming week or next weekend. It’ll be a Christmas miracle. Good luck to us.

Ha well I was refering to the Carousel, #40293 correct?  I asked before I started shopping, then someone else checked out and got one, figured I'd better take hurry. It made up for the fact that they were out of #10254.

@teal93mr2 Sorry...I assumed you were talking about the big carousel set due to my lack of detail.  I'm glad you were able to get one.  Did they give you the carousel and the Jurassic park bricktober set? Maybe I'll call the stores near me tomorrow.

@ReesesPieces yes they did give me the JW Pack as well, with the reindeer ornament to boot. First time this year I’ve managed to overlap two good promotions in-store.

I made a Bricks and Pieces order toward the end of November. The usual 7-10 business days came and went with no delivery. I contacted CS and they resent the parts. the 7-10 business days runs out shortly again for the reshipment. Another contact with CS and, at the very least, have some VIP points to make up for it. Again a promise of "no later than Friday" was given. Not sure at what point I just ask for a full refund?

Meanwhile, my needed parts remain in limbo and my project unfinished...

^- I usually see such orders are 7-10 days is after it ships, and even then I get it more around 14 days after it was shipped (not when the order was placed)

My last Bricks and Pieces order (early November) took 10 business days to ship and arrived 14 business days after it SHIPPED. USPS is overwhelmed, they missed mail delivery to my street twice in one week and everything I do get is about a week late (like grocery store flyers after the sale has ended).

Same here, my last order took 3 weeks AFTER it shipped to get to me. Seven to 10 days is normal EXCEPT during the holidays.

I certainly understand. The reshipped order I've determined will definitely be late (though it shipped immediately, so the 7-10...or 21 days, was in play right away). But the original order went in well before the initial holiday rush and shipped before Christmas.

I feel Lego has more than stepped up for the time being. Obviously, if it never comes, I'll ask for the refund.

That would be new, as I have never seen a Bricks and pieces order ship 'immediately' as they have to pick it.
I put a LEGO B&Ps order in on Dec 7th. According to the order status page, The parts show as shipped on the 13th (which is actually quick IMO if that is the actual date) So IM guessing I may get them.. maybe.. on the 27- 30th of December.

It caught me off guard, but I got the order confirmation when I was talking with CS, then the shipment notification about 2 hours later.

This SW Box promotion baffles me.  And since when does LEGO give away 'graded' things?

    (Who is doing the grading?)

I love how in the "investment" thread everyone was all about disagreeing with my comparison of the current Lego aftermarket to the 90's comic scene. Now Lego itself is handing out "graded" Lego sets. :p

LEGO is still, fundamentally nothing like the 90s comic scene. Grandma's and aunts and uncles and moms and dads were never buying comic books for birthday and christmas presents in large quantities. The comic scene was driven almost entirely by the collectors and speculators market. They have almost entirely different markets both demographically and in terms of scale.

The current LEGO aftermarket is still driven largely by actual demand.

^ Somewhere in the middle was the '90's sports cards market.  Some 'civilians' buying sports cards for their kids in their lives, but a larger, disproportionate segment buying 'investment' and 'collector' sets based on the promise that the set would continue to hold value in the aftermarket.  Everything collapsed when the bubble burst.  Shockingly, the cards that were actually rare - maintained their value.  Everything labelled 'collector' did not.

The comic book scene from that era had only to do with 'collector' marketing.  And shockingly, the comics that are actually rare - maintain their value...

This is an isolated curiosity.  Unprecedented and not indicative of LEGO's overall market strategy.  It's a giveaway item, not related to generating revenue.

(But I would like to know who LEGO is relying on to grade this thing.  Or how much that entity paid for the privilege!)

Huh. This is apparently not even a new thing. AFA graded sets have been discussed in various online Lego communities since at least 2012, I've just learned from a quick Google query.

I will never understand the appeal of"graded" collectibles. :p

Picked up #75211 TIE Fighter and some keychains to get the SW poly box (and reindeer ornament) at my closest Lego store.  Not sure if the boxes sold out online, but they had plenty in-store and the cashier mentioned they'd keep giving the them out until they ran out of them regardless of the 12/17 - 12/19 promo period.  They also had the #40305 Lego Brand Store set in stock.  Dallas doesn't have a flagship store, so it was nice to see it there.

My [email protected] order arrived yesterday with the stickers (To/From labels) all nice and unwrinkled, which made me happy. Usually anything paper, (especially if there are free stickers) is on the bottom and all messed up.

Can anyone confirm if all the Star Wars boxes have the same contents? I haven't gotten mine yet.
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 ChicagoMember Posts: 1,443
@SprinkleOtter the one I got instore was the same. Can't say if it was just my box, but it didn't make it home without the cardboard getting torn. I'd say it's more of a paperboard than cardboard.

Went to the LEGO store at Downtown Disney California for the Star Wars black box promo and was surprised by:
    - Extra freebies
    - The Disney annual pass discount (10%) includes the promo prices; in this case, and extra $5

The Star Wars black box includes the same items indicated by others.

At the lego store at MoA today, I picked up
    2x #40274 at $9.99 (good price/part)
    2x #5005406 Ninjago Play & Display case at $17.49.
And I got the reindeer ornament for free.

The Ninjago cases are great for keeping the dust off your Brickheadz and Micro Fighters.
