List of most wanted/least owned (or least wanted/most owned) sets?

PDelahantyPDelahanty Member Posts: 308
I was looking at the numbers of people that owned a set vs the number that want it and was wondering what sets had the highest ratio.  ...which would seem to indicate that a set was hard to get but high in demand.

Conversely, I'm also curious what sets have the worst ratio...where a lot of people own it, but not as many want it.  I guess this would be like a crappy Christmas gift? "Oh gee, thanks Aunt Becky...just what I wanted..."  It could also be a collectable minifigure that wasn't popular but people ended up getting randomly in the foil bag.

Or something that was only bought to complete a set?

Or it was/is cheap and widely available, and everyone that wants it can buy it.

Znap is another theme with a lot of sets with a bad own/wanted ratio. https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Znap

At 5:1, Life of George is one of the worst:

There should be a “Wish I’d never bought it” flag. That might help.

There are far worse ratios than that, where the set was easily available and cheap or a giveaway. A high Owned/wanted ratio (or low wanted/owned ratio) is not necessarily a sign of a crappy set.

    For example: polybags such as #30264 2552/332 (ratio 7.69), #30265 3621/255 (14.2).

Even some decent games like Minotaurus score far worse than Life of George: #3841 3670/423  (8.68)

Many of the Cars set outscore Life of George too:
    #8200 3580/432 (8.28)
    #8201 4129/472 (8.75)

    Similarly early technic:
    #8810 2738/205 (13.36)
    #8815 2675/219 (12.21)

    Ferrari sets:
    such as #30190 3503/362 (9.68)

    Ninjago dragon #30428 2588/373 (6.94)

    Guardians Ship #30525 2416/409 (5.91)

    Cute Pug #30542 2585/383 (6.75)

    Promo Lloyd #30609 3237/313 (10.34)

    Sopwith Camel #40049 2754/447 (6.16)

    Valentine's Bee Brickheadz #40270 2990/454 (6.59)

Most Mixels Series 1 are ratios of about 6-7.

Many licensed Brickheadz are ratios of 6+.

Even decent CMFs like Sybil Trelawney can be higher 2505/441 (5.68)

    Then the big one ... Christmas Build-Up #40222 5438/253 (21.49)

They are certainly not crappy sets, just ones where the people that want them tend to have them.

For crappy sets, you could look for ones where the total owned and the total wanted is low. And even then, you probably want to ignore all old sets as numbers tend to be low for those anyway, ignore all gear, duplo and non-AFOL interest items. But even that picks up things people don't know much about, for example:

#SHIMAO-1 (3 own 42 want), certainly not crappy. Just unknown.

So maybe you are after a low total (wants+haves) but a high ratio of have/want.
