My lovely wife sniffed out this bargain at a local charity shop this afternoon. A few minor marks on the box but all seals intact. £2.49 - couldn't believe it when she messaged to ask if I wanted it or not - yes please!

Damn that is a GOOOOD find. I've been keeping an eye out for that at a decent price for a while!

20 minutes until I'm done at work, then headed to Mall of America LEGO store to spend my quarterly bonus! I hope #21315 Pop-Up Book and #40289 Diagon Alley are in stock! Yes, I know it's a $99 spend... that won't be a problem! :)

Recently, I've been going a bit Bricklink mad... I got all the parts for the #75105 Millennium Falcon mods that I'm making, including Han and Leia figures from #75159 Death Star and also purchased the bulk of the parts that I need to build the LOTR Oliphant / Mumakil MOC from Build Better Bricks.

About 3.5hours?  :/. An hour last weekend and the time it took to watch The Last Jedi this afternoon.

My son got the City Cargo Terminal #60169 for his birthday and I’ve been helping him put it together. Gotta say, it’s a pretty cool set. Good price now at Target and qualifies for the $10 gift card. He’s all in to trucks and equipment - fork lifts, construction, etc and this was perfect. Some cool features in it too.

  • Just finished organising my unbuilt Lego, which was my project for this year's annual leave (still got a week left too, score).  It's not the whole wall of itty bitty plastic drawers with every part type neatly organised, there's containers called things like "stuff from the 80s", "more stuff from the 80s but there's only enough to half-fill this one, so also all the baseplates", "train tracks except the monorail which doesn't fit so it's in the 80s overflow one", "Bionicle and Duplo and Belville and everything else I'm pretty sure I won't want to get at in a hurry so it's safe to put in in the container that's going under the suitcases in the understair storage area", and so on.

At least minifig parts and accessories, and anything with a sticker or print on it, is reasonably isolated now, so for the rest I feel like I can just hunt around for whatever I need and something near enough will turn up.  And I ended up rebuilding the Speed Racer car along the way, wanted to have that back on the shelves ever since I gave the movie another watch and discovered I actually really like it.

I would love to hear what you think of the Oliphant MOC from B3. I've been seriously thinking about buying the instructions and sourcing the parts here very soon.

It'll be a little while yet, as I'm awaiting a couple of BL orders and then need to double-check everything and order the last few parts, but I definitely will let you know, when I do.

I did like both the Prancing Pony (although a little small, and I also had to substitute a couple of parts, due to the extremely high cost of the specified ones) and the Balrog Battle, so I am looking forward to seeing how this one works out.

Started the big LEGO room clean up over the weekend, discovered lots of polybags I'd bought this year that I'd tucked away. Now starting to sell a few on as stocking fillers to make some space.

Next up comes the big dusting session!

Ah, it's starting to look like Christmas...

Most of the stuff I've had for sale went at local cons mostly for half off my initial asking prices. Which is a shame because most of them were 99 era Star Wars stuff and some of it was pretty rare... still can't sell off those micro-ship builds or the original Droid Fighter even at half off though, even if someone was just looking for the parts.

Snake Canyon and Pirate Building Set are still not going either unfortunately. I just want some folks to enjoy them as much as I did initially, seems the kids prefer Star Wars sets over anything else.

But yeah, if you aren't willing to budge on the prices good luck selling anything. Most of my stuff is loose, but not everything LEGO is going to sell at huge prices once it retires just because.

    So much more formal.

I had no idea just the mere sight of velvet could give me such eye-sore, even shivers down my spine and goosebumps. Until now.
The horror! This green crushed velvet is like kryptonite. Aaaaaargh! This is the opposite of ASMR

Anyway,my lego status is being seriously underwhelmed by the [email protected] offers, yet somehow still feeling almost compelled to order something while realizing I do not want anything bad enough. It is a little weird. It all has to do with that freebie. Damn you you enticing freebie!

Popped into an indie toy shop nearby where I have picked up a few bargains over the years.  They must have had a stockroom tidy as there was a lone Hero Factory set - #44029 - on the shelf.  I thought I might grab it as I've not encountered one before, but they had it priced at £148.99!

I'm very pleased with myself. Decided against a Hogwarts Express last night (Black Friday) for A$125 down from $140. It's hard to get your hands on down here, so it seemed like an awesome deal, but I held out. Turns out that was a wise decision as eBay just released a 10% everything code, so I can now get it for just A$116!

So I take that as a win?
Um, no.  That is not a win.  It's just a delay to a much, much worse loss.

"I pick up stuff cheaply and then swap it market prices after the sets retire.  That's how I subsidize the hobby."

And every once in awhile sell something and buy dinner.
