Didn't turn out to be free, had to resort to bribery to get them back to it after food.

So now off to Bricklive at the NEC for a day of brick based fun.

Speaking of ABS bricks: it's Halloween in Legoland, so the bricks are covered in spiders and other critters. Sensei Wu needs to fight one off:

As a native Texan 325km is just 'over yonder' and isn't that far at all ;-)

So after seven business days I finally got a tracking update for my BnP & PaB order. The package has made it a whole 9 miles!!! From College Park GA to Forest Park GA. They are saying it will be delivered by Nov 6th so I guess they plan on improving on their 1.28 miles per day progress.

At a whopping 10% off! (with Danish RRP on that set 20-30% higher than elsewhere, a VERY poor deal considering current aftermarket prices...)

There was also a full shelf of DC Super Hero Girls. Didn't visit the discount store yet, but pretty sure they still have hundreds of those binders to hold the Chima game cards.

Pre-Ordered two of the Overwatch sets, will probably save a few others for in-store pick-up on the first of January. (Depends on how things go by then.)

My grand weekend plan of simultaneously organizing the kids' old toys, my LEGO hoard, removing and ridding the family of excess furniture (three couches, one piano and a coffee table), in an effort to relocate said LEGO hoard to the 'other' side of the basement has been a spectacular failure.

However, I am happy to report that the candy bowls are 22% lighter than on Friday.  And I ordered three highly coveted prospective Christmas gifts.

    Ugh.  Maybe next weekend...

Spent a few minutes turning the #5005359 Minifigure Frame freebie into a baseplate with a minifigure freebie. Just a little ripping and scrubbing and soaking and a nice dark bley 32x32 became a lot more usable.

Did you just soak it in water, or some (other) solvent?
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Sofia BG/Dallas TXMember Posts: 5,692
I used some dishsoap and hot water. There is a ton of goo on the back of it but a rough scrubber took it off fine without damaging the plastic.

Just left my first negative feedback on Bricklink.

I've had over 150 orders since 2012. 50 of those in the last 6 months. And whilst I've had some bad experiences, the seller has been good about it and sorted things out.

I suspect I'm an anomaly for this seller, as he has almost 5000 positive feedback reports. But his responses to the negatives (which I'm looking forward to!) are telling.

This seller was so slow, I had to chase the invoice after almost a week, then it took only 2 days to be marked as shipped, which seemed fair. But the postage was bought 5 days after.

The seller outright denied this happened!

Then the (new) parts arrived, a week after they were "shipped" 2nd class, they were quite grubby and many of them were badly scratched and scuffed. One even had what looked like a lump of snot stuck to it. Snot, not SNOT ;-)

Fair enough, the seller offered me a refund for the parts. But not for the postage or the return postage.

I thought I was being fair when I wrote:
"Very slow, had to chase my order. Poor comms. Most new parts ok, but some v. bad"

The character limit makes it hard to give meaningful feedback.

Anyone want to buy 144 dirty, scratched 1x3 tiles in DBG??

Not that old but seems like much longer ago than 2011 when I took this picture in The Big Shop, LLW.  Yes, Tower Bridge is over seven years old and yes, Toy Shop has since been rereleased.

I only wish camera phones had been better back then.

An amazing array of sets.  Is it just me being nostalgic, or would you struggle to put together a display of current sets that's so mouthwatering?

I'd say it's the nostalgia speaking, as that shelf is the equivalent of putting all today's exclusives + general large sets + architecture sets together in 1 place.

Hogwarts Castle, Voltron, Rollercoaster, Disney Castle, UCS MF, Death Star, the 5 Modulars, Firehouse Headquarters, Ferris Wheel, etc etc all put together would also look quite impressive.

Due to slight screw up caused by the people at the Blizzard Gear store, I've ended up with four #75987 Overwatch Omnic Bastion sets instead of the one I ordered. Oh well. :)

(Who sends a package out addressed simply to "San Francisco, California"? And when I complained that it never arrived, four seperate customer service people picked up my complaint, and each one placed a replacement order for me...)

I built one of them today and I must say, what an enjoyable little build! Some really interesting building techniques used, but the icing on the cake is just how poseable this guy is. One of the most posable Lego mechs in recent times I think.

Wasn't sure where to post his, but after the recent Brickset article about Wicked Bricks display stands, I thought I'd try a couple out. I got the tallest (XL?) and second tallest stands (L?), both angled and dynamic. Just tested them out and I think they look great. I wouldn't want to put anything larger than the U-wing on one though.

These look amazing!  What size plate did you go with for the x wing?  I almost bought a few of these also, but I can’t decide which base plates to get.

Well, I got my feedback. First, his reply to my feedback:

"Reply: Perhaps the most supercilious buyer I've ever had! Sellers beware!!"

    Then, his feedback to me:

"Demanding, supercilious & stupidly high expectations - sellers beware!"

Unfortunately, he forgot to change "Praise" to "Complain", so I still have 100% positive feedback ;)

I'm so supercilious, I had to Google what it meant to be sure:

    supercilious
    /suːpəˈsɪlɪəs/
    adjective
behaving or looking as though one thinks one is superior to others.
    "a supercilious lady's maid"
    synonyms: arrogant, haughty, conceited, disdainful, overbearing, pompous, condescending, superior, patronizing, imperious, proud, lofty, lordly, snobbish, snobby, overweening, smug;

I guess it's about right. I do feel superior to someone who sells LEGO covered in snot :)
