That's a strangely timed double post.
I started the post on my phone in the store, finished it at home, but the draft was still on my phone and I assumed I'd forgotten to post it.

PS found a #30476 in a clearance aisle for $2.06 (my guess on the price is $2.99 30% off with a rounding error along the way)

I know this may be a bit off the 'deals' topic but does anyone know for sure how Targets get their mini figures and polys?  My two Targets have quit carrying mini figures(since The Lego Ninjago Movie) and one store quit carrying polys all together and the larger store has only some Kylo Ren at a few checkout lanes.  I was once told from a Target employee that they come from a separate distribution guy...not on the normal trucks.

I have heard that the stores won't get new ones until the older ones sell well.

The two Targets near me stock Minifigures differently. I don't believe either store stocked Batman Series 2, because the Ninjago series didn't sell well or was over-produced or both. (A shame since I quite like that series.) One of them got Series 18 when it released in April and the other store didn't get it until months later. Then in August, the latter store recieved the Harry Potter series and the former store did not. Both stores still have Ninjago CMFs in the checkout aisles to this day, along with Harry Potter and/or Series 18. (And as someone who feels up CMF packs in the store, I hate that they put them in the checkout aisles now because I have to crouch down on the floor to feel up multiple packs and when I do that, I get a bunch of weird looks from the people walking by. First world problems, amirite?)

Ninjago CMFs disappeared quickly around me, as soon as the next series came out they were gone. Shame because I really liked the series and decided I wanted to grab a few more Kendo Kai figs for the armor piece after the Kendo pods came out. It's Batman that seemed to linger forever.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,759
One Target near me (coincidentally the smaller one) never seems get CMF in stock, but the SuperTarget still gets the CMFs in stock. Both still get the poly bags, but they seem to not put them by the LEGO aisle, but on endcaps on other toy aisles or up at the checkout counters.

The one nearest me went from TLBM S1 right to gobs and gobs of Harry Potter.

    Boggles my mind.

My Target has 4 Big Ben's and 4 Carousels for sale at $175. Is that a good deal?

^ I'd say it definitely is for Big Ben, and probably not too bad for the Carousel either.  Depending on where you are in Indiana it is likely I would make the drive over there to pick one up!  I'm in Ohio.

I'm about 30 miles from Selina Ohio but in Indiana.  The sets are at the Kokomo Target.

Not really a deal, but my Target recently restocked #60150 at full price... only 9 months after I scored one for $5 on clearance from the same location.

I was in Target yesterday looking for the new coffee/donut set. I have been looking for the Police Station #60141 for my son and it had a price of $69.99. Unfortunately they were sold out and the online price is still $99.99. Just wanted to pass on as they appear to be closing it out at the store
Close out would end in an 8, so 69.98. This is a regular price reduction.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,334
Some sets 20% off. I note that if the Target list price was already below MSRP it's still 20% off MSRP (sometimes in the past sets already marked down have been marked down further)

Got a Target toy catalog in the mail today. On the back there’s a coupon for a $10 gift card with $50 toy purchase, but it excludes lego. Then, on page 46 it says “Spend $50 on lego toys, get a $10 Target GiftCard”. The back of the catalog says “prices shown are good through November 21 2018 at Target stores within the contiguous U.S.”

So, maybe you can get $10 off of $50 through November 21st?
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 831
Things have been screwy with Target this last month or two.  Most of their buy a certain amount and get a gift card doesn't show up when you pay and was buying some towels last week that were 30% off but the register rings up full price.  It's happened 5-6times lately.

I went in a few weeks ago and their self checkout machines were locking up. I tried switching to a regular checkout, but there was only one open with a long line. So I went back to self checkout and found a working machine.

My two local target have most of the city sets on sale. I picked up the straight and curved tracks for 15.99 down from 19.99

Yes, lots of sets on sale right now; City, Creator, Friends, Superheroes. Sadly nothing at more than 20% off that I saw.

I'd prefer it if they'd just do, say, 10% off all  LEGO.

Except, for me, that’s not enough of a discount to get out of bed for. Maybe if it applied to the D2C sets online.

Got me really excited until I read "just the cards, not the buildable dog house"....It would make a nice freebie with card, like they used to do....and I want a Lego Spot (they did a buildable one years ago).

Lol, dog house looks exactly like the one I built 13 years ago! The most basic of any dog house!

I always thought the Target dog was named Bullseye. Was I wrong?

So everyone was right. I love it when it works out like that! My son's favorite part of going to Target is getting those stickers from the cashier.

For those interested, Target will match Amazon's online price (and probably Walmart) for items they only sell online.

I used this late last week to finally get #10251 Brick Bank. I opened a chat window, and gave the customer support representative the link to the item for Target's website and for Amazon's. They had me order it, and then they adjusted the price. The Red Card 5% stacked on top of that too.

It could be useful to help save a little more money.

(I posted this in the Amazon thread as well since it relates to both.)

I meant bullseye......for some strange reason I was thinking Spot, but yes Bullseye was what I meant.

I remember I was at a marketing convention back in 2006 in Dallas.  I think Target was rebranding itself or something, changing its look.  They had the dog there.  Pretty sure it was called spot then.  She was just chillin out on a table in their area in her cool pose.

Thanks for the heads up! IMO It is a good deal as you get 4 figures, the dog and the bike which is about 15 dollars alone for all of that, then you still get the accessories like the stand with all the pastry tiles. Wish I would have waited to buy mine.

A better deal elsewhere seems relevant to me as well. I just posted in the S&H thread that Target's straight sale + redcard felt better to me than 2x VIP + small promo

Target is also doing some signifcant pre-Black Friday resets at stores in proximity to former TRU locations.  Nearly 40 feet of shelf space, plus an eye-catching diorama of large minifigures sliding down a slide.

I'm very interested to see if there is a dramatic increase in product sales based on this strategy.

Not a deal per se, but last night in one target I found #21042 on the shelf.  Just one with price tag below it.  It was the only architecture set on shelf and first time I've ever seen architecture at Target.  Hadn't seen this mentioned before, so thought some might find it good to know.  Target's inventory of Lego themes seems to grow though is a bit odd in rhyme or reason in some cases as evidenced by Speed Champions, UCS (Assault on Hoth), and now Architecture.

Could be an online return.  I've returned a set to store that they don't carry (London bus) and they just put it on the shelf with the appropriate shelf tag.  I've seen other stores resell an online return with an "As-Is" price sticker and no shelf tag, so it seems it's up to the store's discretion on how they want to handle it.

I've been to another store that carried a few Assault on Hoth and Speed Champions has been a regular at Target stores for a little while now.

I’ve seen this new arrangement (different shelving arrangement and the big slide) in the stores that have been remodeled around here. Are you saying just the lego section was redone by itself?

Yes - and it appears to be based on a combination of LEGO sales volume, proximity to closed TRUs and managerial discretion.

One manager at a Target in my area ordered twice the LEGO product from last year and was the second Target in the US to get the section re-set.  Her staff wasn't happy about doing a second reset within 30 days.

(She also ordered three palettes of those ridiculous LOL! Dollhouses that people will be ransoming in late December.  She's expecting they'll all be gone by December 10th.)

The gift card promotion appears to be online only, or at least Target's in-store system will not combine it with a price match.

That being said, when I showed the promotion to the cashier, she gave me no problems about ringing up the $10 gift card combined with the price match on #75952 Newt's Case of Magical Creatures. Set #40538 Bean There, Donut That appears to be the same price online and in-store - at least in my area.

This was also the first time I ever had a cashier encourage me to check Amazon, Walmart, etc. to make sure I was matching to the cheapest price.

I had the same issue. Since I was making 3 separate $50 purchases, the cashier took $10 off of the second and third purchases, and the customer service person gave me a $10 gift card.
