Thanks CCC. It's a shame as they look pretty impressive.
Actually, if you zoom in on my picture, you will be able to see what parts you need and how to arrange them quite clearly.

Bricktober figures in the UK. That's the thing I'm getting edgy about. Cheapest is £45+ currently on the resale places and I'd like it to be approximately a quarter of that. Does any one have any insider info on whether it will be at Brand retail, Smyths, somewhere else, or horror of horrors - not at all?
Apologies if this has already been discussed.

^ this is is what we all want to know. From signs of CMF flying off the shelf here, this will be a sought after set. I just can’t believe Lego would leave the U.K. without.

They're pretty much just 1x1 plates and a 48x48 baseplate. If you like I can scan the picture and send it to you.

Hi Jern, that would be great thanks.  Sounds like a nice project for me.

I've watched several how to videos now and have installed the new powered up system on the new hogwart's express taking great care to follow the steps as they were laid out. Can anyone tell me why then my train continually falls off the track? The front two wheels just will not stay on even in the unlocked position. I've rechecked everything and am still unsure where i'm going wrong. Any help from anybody would be greatly appreciated, thank you all in advance.

Laid claim to Percival Graves today, slipped open one side of a sealed case and got my figure. I was amazed to find the two sealed cases sitting on the shelf actually, glad that I could finish the set. LEGO I implore you, no more 1 per case releases, it is just disgustingly unfair to the millions of kids in the world who want everybody.

On a more helpful note, assisted in getting someone what they want for either their birthday or Christmas, helped get a Yoda's Hut to someone looking for it and someone else got the Ninjago Spinners they needed.

Bricktober is on at Toys-R-Us in Norway now, so I finally got my hands on that #%€@ HP Minifig Collection. Bought two of the Whomping Willow set, which is very reasonably priced at TRU in Norway (550NOK), and got one pack for myself, and one as my cousin's Christmas present, although they didn't want to give out two packs to one customer.

According to The Brick Fan, some Barnes and Nobles locations in the US are recieiving the Harry Potter Bricktober Pack now. What's surprising about this is that they are available to buy for $7.99 in the Lego section, instead of being a free gift with a $50+ purchase like in the past. (It's highly possible that they will be promos later on and that these particular locations just put the packs out early). Here's the article: https://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-harry-potter-bricktober-2018-5005254-barnes-and-noble-update/

I've really got to find those quick, but none are in stores in MA yet according to customer service at my store. Anyone in Connecticut, apparently a few stores there have some.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,791
The stores have the potter professor sets being allocated from the warehouse to the stores now (which is why people cannot seem to buy them now via CS). I think these people that have been managing to buy them before hand likely got them from their stores allocation, just a guess to that though. One store told me they could not order it, but they expected to get 8 (only) in, and two stores I visited both reported they have no idea when they will be getting them in stock. So given the lack of B&N stores (at least to TRU before they closed) and the sounds of small allocations to each store makes me wonder if these will appear somewhere else before the end of the year, as one would think that TRU US purchased a heck of a lot more than what B&N seem to be allocating.

Microscale Diagon Alley will be a gift with purchase with a minimum $99 spend from the 9th of November to the 21st. Not sure what the minimum spend will be with the U.K.

That's a shame. I let my wife purchase Hogwarts Castle in the hope of another large build coming along for me. I'm gonna have to stop the gentlemanly lark!

@snowhitie - that supersized Hogwarts hall looks great. How much of the above-ground part of it can you achieve with just a second Hogwarts Hall set?

  • snowhitiesnowhitie Member Posts: 3,078
@Brainslugged thanks. I have used 3 sets and extra bricks, but I've got windows left over. The biggest difficulty is to keep the proportions correct and that means to sometimes change the build a bit, plus I made the tower wider and deeper and have attached it more to the hall so it would be more stable. I didn't use too many extra bricks, mostly some plates and tan bricks plus stuff to fill the hall with.

With 2 sets I think you should be able to get pretty far too, just a bit less wide/deep/high.

Very nice, @snowhitie! Lots of neat details, like the hour glasses in the entrance hall. I've also put Dumbledore's office and Trelawney at the top of the big tower. I will post some pictures of the interior of my castle in due time, but today is dedicated to Nearly Headless Nick, answering the age old question; How can you be nearly headless?

Anyone else noticed that the HP CMFs are thin on the ground in the shops? I haven’t seen a fresh box in a long time and my Smyths, which usually has loads, is slimming down too.
Shop at home says ‘temporarily out of stock.’

Has time been called? I suppose they’ve been out since August, so 3 months is probably about right...
  • Pate5346Pate5346 Member Posts: 889
^ It all depends I guess. I saw two fresh boxes in one Tesco I visited. Although haven't seen any in Sainsbury for some time

^ same here. In Newcastle & Cramlington, the Sainsbury's I use (which had them very early on) have been gone for a few weeks but Kingston Park Tesco, which put them out much later, still had about 6 partial boxes available yesterday. The 2 on the display stand looked quite 'fresh'.
  • dmcc0dmcc0 Member Posts: 778
Local Sainsburys hadn't had any for ages, then suddenly a fresh box appeared for the start of the toy sale the other week.  Tesco also had a fairly full looking box the other day too.  I think they might've actually been reduced in Tesco too.
  • AdelecAdelec Member Posts: 171
Asda around me suddenly have found some boxes. I only saw 2 boxes in our Sainsbury's, ever!

My local target has them at all the registers but they're thinned out in the toy section, Walmart had a full but very picked over display.

The nearest Kmart to me had a single box on the highest shelf, but upon closer inspection the box was revealed to be empty. I was tempted to ask if I could take it home.
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,791
Saw a bowl full of them at the LDC near me. I already got the figures I wanted so no more purchasing for me.

Just finished building the large hogwarts castle whilst bingewatching the Harry Potter-movies (thank you, Netflix!). I finished building in the middle of the fourth movie.

Diagon Alley now available as a gift with purchase here, though they limit it to Harry Potter sets only. Luckily I haven't picked up the Great Hall yet.

Oh i was able to get a Diagon Alley with the new pop-up book and another non-Harry potter set, maybe the qualification is different for Europe. Good thing too as I’ve all the new HP sets bought already.

Put in an order for the Whomping Willow (only Wizarding World set I hadn't picked up yet) and a couple of other bits to get the Diagon Alley, UK definitely doesn't need to be all Potter to qualify.

I don't like that the qualifying cost has crept up, and I'd like the Xmas gift box later in the month but can't justify two spends that size (even if this one was mostly VIP points)

Aye, I agree, the spend is a bit much. But I was able to buy 15 sets of PF lights and the GWP was added to my basked and checked out fine.

    As above.
Wasn’t going to buy the Winter Village fire station but I think Diagon Alley will be very popular (and pricey on eBay) so justified it that way.
But due to the high spend threshold, that’s me done with [email protected] I won’t be getting the Xmas box.

So did I buy Diagon Alley to get a ‘free’ fire station?

Ordered the winter fire station to get Diagon Alley. I still can’t really picture what size the complete set is despite seeing it on instagram.
  • LuLegoLuLego Member Posts: 1,010
So I’m not the only one who bought the WV set just for Diagon Alley (or a sausage)?
