    Around here, lots of sets are less than RRP, but usually only the middle tier ones for some reason. Low and high price ones seem to be at RRP. When I see a “New lower price” hangtag, it actually is a discount from RRP.

    Interesting.  All 6-7 Targets closest to me list everything at RRP.  Then get the occasional 20% sale.  I rarely buy anything at Target.  Why should I when I can go to the 8-9 Walmarts closest to me and get the same thing at less than RRP.  Example, #75955.  Target - $79.99.  Walmart - $69.00.

    Just FYI, Target will price match non-clearance prices (for instance, I bought #75955 for $69.00 from Target to save myself a drive!).

    Target closest to me has 2 aisles full of Lego now, roughly 3 times the shelf space as the closest Walmart. Both usually sell Lego at RRP, but the Target almost always has a set or two on the endcaps, often at 30% off. Seems like if the last one or two in stock don't sell in a week they get moved to the endcaps to make room for sets with more quantity on hand. At Walmart it seems like they move unsold sets in bulk to the clearance aisle, so when they have discounted sets they have a bunch, then nothing until the next batch.

    I decided to check out the nearest store to my work yesterday. I've decided that this "Target Deals" thread is all just a elaborate hoax designed to trick me into thinking Target ever has sets at less than RRP. I honestly can't recall ever seeing anything marked down at any local stores despite hearing of deals that could be found. 

    ...don't think it won't stop me from continuing to check, just in case. I might be onto the hoax, but one of you will slip one of these days!

    Next weeks Target ad has a coupon offering a $10 gift card with a $50 set purchase.

    Didn't know that website existed. 

    As for my local Targets, they discount the occasional theme 20% (this week is Star Wars in conjunction with Solo DVD release). 

    Since the redesign of the stores near me, clearance LEGO has been few and far in between and only a copy of a set here or there at anything greater than a 50% discount. 

    I'm guessing that with TRU gone, Target feels like customers will buy from them now, regardless of price.

    Walmarts near me have routinely marked down LEGO significantly (but I have a friend who clears them out so that by the time I get there I only see shelf signs)!

    I routinely offer my "friends" LEGO deals at cost. If yours doesn't do that, they aren't much of a friend.

    Yeah @bmwlego, the store redesigns are going to require relearning where the clearance items get put. The two stores nearest me haven’t been redone yet, so I haven’t figured out a pattern for the new ones.

    He is a friend, trust me! He is a builder as well who has more free time on his hands than I do to drive all around for LEGO treasures. He has shared in the past so I'm sure he will again. 

    I miss the days of finding LEGO at Target dirt cheap. The fact that LEGO limits retailers and forces them to exclude LEGO from coupons means that I have significantly cut back on purchasing LEGO from Target and other retailers (Barnes and Noble-I bought 24 HP CMFs at 10% off but should have received 20% according to signage up in stores but manager said LEGO forces them to exclude their products from deals like this). After fondling blind bags for an hour I wasn't in the mood to fight with this manager. It took a lot to get me to take the HP plunge and I wasn't going to get these figs if I had to put the ones I sorted through back.

    LEGO has to realize that they are losing out on sales because of their aggressive policies aimed towards positioning their items as high end like Apple does. Time will tell.

    Yep, in play now.  Just picked up a couple of Solo movie sets on sale plus the $10.00 gift card and of course the 5% red card discount!

    I picked up #75953 Whomping Willow. Walmart has it listed online for $59.68. So I ended up paying $50.68- after a price match, tax, Redcard discount, and the $10 gift card.

    The other day I spotted #70616 Ice Tank at a Target. That was a TRU exclusive (here in the USA). I wonder if it's now a Target exclusive, or will it be everywhere?

    I've seen other TRU exclusives, like Mos Eisley Cantina and Speed Champions at multiple retailers like B&N, Wal-Mart, and Target, so I'm guessing the market has expanded on all old TRU-only sets.

    It works if you do smaller sets to reach $50.

    This is exactly what I did today. Thinking of price-matching a Hogwarts Express and doing the same thing.

    Target online has the train for $69.99, only a buck more than Walmart. For things like these, I've found it's a lot easier to buy online and pick up in the store. All of the orders I've placed have been store pickups of sets that are discounted online but not in the store.

    You should be able to just bring an item to the customer service desk and ask them to match their online price.

    I've done that. You can either print out the page from the website, or just show it to them on your phone.

    I just got #75211 Imperial TIE Fighter for $45.99 by price matching Walmart and getting the $10 GC. I was able to price match right at the self-checkouts with the help of the attendant.

    Just bought 2 sets of #76078 Hulk vs. Red Hulk for $17.98 each. List is $59.99. Got the $10 gift card and Red Card discount on top. Should I have bought more? There were 4-5 more sets on the shelf.

    I thought you had to spend $50 to get the $10 gift card. That’s only $35.96.

    Is there any kind of limit to how many gift cards you can get? I assume it's one per transaction...but if you bought $50 worth, and went through the line multiple times does some sort of system stop you?

    In my past experience, they would let you break your purchases up into as many transactions as you wanted to qualify for promotions. For example buying a complete box of 60 CMFs could be one transaction costing $239.40 (60 minifigs x $3.99 each). But since each minifig can be sold separately, they would allow you to break the box up into 4 transactions of 13 minifigs, $51.87 each ($13 x $3.99) and 1 transaction of 8 minifigs.  Each transaction that met the promotion threshold would get the promotion benefits.

    I only did two orders online (with in store pickup), but I got both digital gift cards right after pickup.  You can then tie them to your online account.  Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

    16 on the shelf?  That's crazy!  Do you have DPCI?  Product is not listed on Target.com.

    How the?

    Brickseek shows 4% Discounted and 1% In Stock.  Your store having 16 of the set has to be a major anomaly.  Are you near the Target online distribution center or something?  Something isn't adding up.

    Nevermind.  Found it.  204-00-1820 for #75098.  All stores around me show out of stock.  All show price at RRP except one only slightly reduced.  Maybe they shipped them all to your store?

    @wagnerml2 You helped me snag a deal once again, so big thanks. 

    There was only one left and the box was pretty bashed and all seals broken on one side.  Took it to customer service to ask if I could open it and count the bags.  The very nice service lady said sure and we counted them out. 

    I believed they were all accounted for, so I said I'd take it.  Next thing she says is that she'll give me a discount because it had been opened.  20% off!!!  And then she gave me the $10 gift card.  

    I've not run across any clearance deals in a few years, so this was quite a find. 

    Once again, much appreciated that deals are shared here.

    Nope - those TRU warehouses were emptied months ago!

    (Maybe some subsequent orders that had already been produced.  Or more likely, a strange anomaly based on Target's odd ordering strategy.  Someone there wants to offer the $199.99+ sets, but doesn't want to dedicate retail space to have them sit.)

    Cashier let me buy 3 batches and scanned the coupon from the paper ad

    BL average price is around $4 for 17 of the Harry Potter CMFs, above breakeven with the $10 giftcard for $50 deal 
    3 $6, a $5 and a $20+ chase, but I do okay buying random bags even if I get unlucky with those

    #40358 is a cute exclusive I'll bite with this deal and although it's pricey per piece it's got a lot of figs for a small set

    This evening, I purchased the 75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow, 70639 Street Race of Snake Jaguar, and 75197 First Order Specialists Battle Pack. I price matched all of the sets to Walmart and got the $10 Gift Card and I have yet to decide what I'm gonna use it towards yet.

    @canon03 - My pleasure, my friend.  There are many more of us in St. Louis hunting deals these days. They are much harder to find.  @Keilup No sure where they came from.  There were 16 remaining when I got there and that was after some guys from my LUG got several.  There had to have been 25 or 30 to start.  It was the only Target in St. Louis that had any in stock and they all appeared to have box damage of some type (although 3 of the 4 I got were in pretty good shape).  Could have been online stock that was damaged?  Either way, I was glad to find it!

    I ended up buying the HP wave of sets. I broke it up into 4 purchases so scored $40 in gift cards. I used other Target gift cards I'd been stockpiling for a purchase like this. My friend from earlier in this thread told me that the Whomping Willow and Hogwarts Express were online for $10 less each so I did amazingly well on acquiring these sets. 
    I spent gift cards to get each purchase as close to $50 as possible, used my red card and still have $45 in gift cards to put towards a future purchase. 

    Today I should complete rereading the HP books as well. 2 chapter to go in The Deathly Hollows so a very timely purchase of LEGO.
