    The articulation is mind blowing and the price, even the normal price is great. The plastic seems solid and good quality as well. The first Pacific Rim was an excellent movie. Many people say it wasn't but their opinion obviously doesn't matter since they don't like it. :D

    I've always tried to collect other things but just don't make it far. After a while of collecting the other stuff I start to feel bad about neglecting Lego so much. I'm sure I wasn't meant to collect anything but Lego.

    ^^ I've got Striker Eureka from the first film. I wanted Gypsy, but the local 'collectibles' shop where I lived didn't stock it, and I was a bit late to the party on Amazon, so I'll never get it now.

    Maybe Gypsy Avenger will do? Nah.

    As someone who also has a lot of love for the original Pacific Rim (and was super disappointed that the makers of the second listened to the focus groups who saw a failing in the first that it didn't feel like a Transformers movie), this Jaeger really piqued my interest.
    Congratulations @FowlerBricks! 
    To date I haven't been able to find it in store locally for less than four and a half times ($45USD) your discounted price.  You've managed to find something with an even crazier Australia tax than LEGO products!

    I haven't super actively looked but the going shelf price based on the three locations I've been seems to be $59.99 AUD.  Probably a good example of why B&M toy and hobby stores in Australia  are a rare and dying breed. I'll be visiting our own TRU also in receivership) over the next week, will be interesting to see comparisons.

    Well, here in the UK there are various versions, from the about £40 for the ones without an arm or that fall apart immediately after opening, £70 for the more popular or better made ones, to over £300 for the big ones. It's ridiculous. And that's before shipping costs and you can't even tell which manufacturer it is. At least I have Striker, eh?

    TRU (in my state at least) Don't have anything Pacific Rim related in their system.  I'm told the search  includes historic stock.
      On another note (and probably should be in another thread), this is the first time I've visited TRU since receivership was announced for Australia.  Looks like the writing is truly on the wall with obvious lack of restocking across the board.  Prices seem to be as ridiculous as ever and %off Sale prices seem limited to 10 to 20 percent (and in some LEGO instances at least) are %off TRU shelf prices already marked up above RRP.

    And they wonder why they fail...

    @CCC you've gone to the UK site, where it is available. The original link went to the US site. I imagine there's a cookie where it redirects you if you have it set. My PC deletes old cookies fairly regularly.

    Also, I was after Gipsy Danger, not Avenger. I've found Danger in the US, and it does ship to the UK. But £40? I don't think so.

    Indeed. I arbitrarily buy whatever Pops I feel like getting without going for a particular kind. But that's one line I deliberately avoid. How can you get your favourite when you don't know what you're getting? Lego would never sell figures individually in blind bags... right?

    Guys, I've done a terrible thing. I've started collecting Marvel Universe 3 3/4-inch figures. Let me tell you a tale of what happens when you're led by your heart rather than your head.

    It all started with DinosaurDracula.com. While I was sick I went through all the "5 random action figures" posts and got really nostalgic for my childhood action figures, which were lost last year when my mum, in a fit of house-moving stress, uncharacteristically donated most of my childhood toys in the belief that I had wanted her to do so. Thundercats, Transformers, StarCom, Sylvanian Families, Tyco/Toy Biz X-Men... gone. I was rather shocked by how much it upset me, but we've had a rough couple of years as a family and I suppose it doesn't take a pyschologist, etc. etc. At least it wasn't the Lego, right? 

    So! It started innocently enough. I picked up a couple of the Transformers Generations  Titans Return figures (Kup and Scattershot), and two of the DC Multiverse Wonder Woman figures, because I loved the movie and was getting obsessed with Greek mythology again. But then we went to B&M and found that they had a handful of Marvel Universe figures for maybe £2.99. We got Morbius (this is a vampire household), and when I went on Ebay I found out that this toy line, which I'd been unaware of during my years of trying not to buy toys new, had covered almost every Marvel character I could think of.

    Its glory days of three waves a year are behind it, sure, and the cost of figures seemed to go up during the first month or so I was interested, but hey, there were a few cheap ones, and the Avengers were affordable, and if I had a £5 - 6 ceiling per figure... 

    ...so anyway, now I'm chasing Doctor Doom in auctions, and my X-Men nostalgia has come full circle and I'm waiting for Rogue to arrive, because someone's got to hang out with the White Queen, and I've finally tracked down Black Widow....

    I opened up a few of the Marvel action figure comic packs, but soon realized I was too old to be doing battle with the loose figures and just kept them mint in box.

    The fun of collecting for me is the hunt and watching eBay.

    But do you collect Lego games? I frequently see them at the local thrift shop and buy them for parts, but never actually played any of the games.

    Afraid not, I own one and read through the rules, I fear these are two hobbies that mostly won’t mix (for me).

    I loved Heroica. The idea of each set functioning as both an expansion and a standalone should have really worked, and the straightforwardness of creating your own additions should have made it popular. Unfortunately, we only got five sets...

    Mine too! I got into board-gaming 3 years ago and now I'm finding myself constantly torn between buying new Lego and buying new board games, partly due to the fact that they are both expensive, and also because I'm running out of space at home!

    Nice, I've been into board games for many years. I don't have to crazy a collection though as I'm at about 30 games and have held steady around that number for some time.

    I may or may not have about 200. Although, I would say that games is my primary hobby over Lego, but I probably shouldn't say that because of where I am. Oops, too late. *send*

    Latest chogokin (diecast) version of Doraemon with auto switching of the gadgets and spinning rotor when placed at the top of the head.

    And yes, it is meant to be a futuristic robot cat. Some info if you're interested:

    I'm from Asia so yes it is very well known here. Back in the 70s, I used to save up my pocket money to buy this manga.

    Apparently it just barely missed the top 10 spot (came in at 11th) of best selling manga of all time!

    My brother lived in Japan for a year, and when he came back he brought a few of those toys back as gifts for our kids. When we said we didn't know what they were he was surprised, presumably because he was exposed to the character a lot over there, and in West Yorkshire... not so much! :-)

    I guess there's a still lot of cultural differences the media. Have most people in Japan heard the tragedy of Macbeth? Conversely, have any of you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?

    Something about not even being able to save Sand Red I think I read last week? Not sure why he would want to. A lot of people hate sand.

    I think Shakespeare is universal... or atleast transmutated into most cultures.  'Throne of Blood' is 'Macbeth'.

    I just recently got a pair of figures from Four Horsemen's Mythic Legions line. Another very slippery slope there.

    Oh god, those Mythic Legions things are AMAZING. I'm almost grateful that they're way too expensive for me, because otherwise they could be a problem. There are so many of them!
