    I'm beginning to have regrets about some of my larger Technic sets: Unimog, Porsche 911, Mercedes Arocs, etc. I can see utility in their pieces but I cannot be bothered to part them all out.

    This thread is the reason I keep my collection small. I have a complete cross-section of sets from exclusive minifigure polybags all the way up to UCS, but limited display room and I don't really want to be storing anything. Having said that I can see myself needing another KALLAX unit before too long...

    I hate the TRU exclusive Mini-Modulars. 

    I have half of an extra set of them, but they're not the same scale as the regular Mini-Modulars.

    I'm with rdflego on this. The Mk II Mobile Crane is already gone. It was meant to be better than 8421 but all it is is bigger.
    I enjoyed building the Porsche but now it's sitting there and I feel a bit like the last line of finding Nemo:
    Now what?

    Thanks for the warning, I have the original 8421 and was thinking about one day getting the new one. Guess I won't if you say it's lame. I would get the Arocs though, given that it has powered pneumatics. You could even take the arm off and run it to a seperate pneumatics controller to make a robot arm.

    I don't have it, but that looks pretty nice. I would still pick the Arocs above it though.

    about sets I regret, well, I would say none really. there is the alien mothership, it's hard to display and doesn't look very impressive for something that big, but I bought it for 17€ so that's ok... I prefer alien abduction, looks about as good and it doesn't take a whole shelf.

    I regret buying the Ghostbusters Firehouse, Assembly Square, and Porsche during the last Double VIP promo because I am very short on cash and big in debt.  I will probably try to return them.

    I usually try to pick stuff on sale like the birthday or wedding sets at 50% off. If you like macaroni bricks, the birthday sets are great.

    I regret getting some of the small POTC sets. They're not terrible, but looking back I should have skipped all the small ones in favor of the Black Pearl.

    Sumo, I agree! The TRU exclusives should have been the same scale as the Mini-Modulars so you could build a little city with all of them. And not go through the torture of trying to rebuild the TRU ones to the larger M-M scale. Ugh! A town of Mini-Modulars would be lovely because it could easily fit on a small shelf unlike the full-sized modulars that are monsters when it comes to building a town. And one could still say that he/she owned all the modulars!

    I honestly can't think of a single set I regret buying.

    I mean, in theory you could say my wallet regrets buying #4436. It cost me £5 on its own, but it was the first set I bought when coming out of my dark ages. When I think what that set led to, and how much I've since spent...

    #4436 was one of my first sets post Dark Age too! Wonder what it was about that little set that tempted us, can't just be the price? I think one of the sets I regret buying is #70904. I was going for all the Lego Batman Movie sets, and really wish I'd been more selective. On the other hand, the list of sets I regret not buying is way longer!

    ^ Agreed on the Clayface set. I wanted it because I wanted to add the Clayface “minifigure” to my collection. I know, I know...it’s very obviously not a minifigure, but still. Any now I don’t even really want to keep it assembled.

    I really like the Clayface set. Maybe I am just a sucker for nougat bricks though. I plan on using the extra hand parts and 1x1 rounds to make a gloppy small representation of the villain encased in a glass containment cell in my Arkham moc.

    I regret as KFOL getting a bunch of little sets instead of the big ones.

    There are a few sets I've regretted buying in and of themselves. #60150 Pizza Van was underwhelming even being a LEGO pizza junkie. There are a lot of sets I regretted buying on sale when later they're on a bigger sale.

    The clearance that brought me out of my dark age didn't save money. First purchase was #10679, #41092, #60066, #60072

    All of them... they eat up dispensible income, collect dust, take up space, and make my wife crazy... yet I keep buying good job Lego I dont know how you do it

    Having just come back to LEGO from my Dark Ages, people's stories about Tower Bridge are what has kept me completely away from investing in LEGO in any way beyond getting sets I like and want for myself.

    I still wonder what will happen with tower bridge. I have one and maybe I should just open it and build.  Can’t really see selling it.

    Not sure I have a regret-buy. Possibly the Lego Star Wars Magazine Sandcrawler issue, because now I have all the issues. And I don't know what to do with my duplicates!

    Nothing significant immediately comes to mind, although I do wish I was a bit more patient with some sets so that I could get them on sale. I'm looking at you, #21313.

    I've bought a couple of small City vehicle and Creator sets here and there that I didn't really want just so I can walk out of the shop with LEGO but they were cheap, so it's wasn't the end of the world.

    The one and only time I really screwed up was picking up #10182 second hand on BL. Paid about 20-30% too much because the seller was based in Australia, which I thought would be less risky, and they had the original box and instructions and it was listed as 100% complete. For most of my life I've stuck to my two golden rules: Don't trust anyone, and don't buy second hand stuff 'cos people suck and don't look after things. It's worked pretty well so far.

    Unfortunately this time I ignored my rules (and all the regular warning signs: first time seller, only two listings in their BL shop... *sigh*). I don't what came over me, rush of blood to the head I suppose...

    The condition of the set wasn't too bad in the end, and all the rare and and hard to find bits were there, but there was a few pieces missing, some broken pieces, two different moulding types for the one part (so, obviously bricklinked replacements at some point) and even one or two non-LEGO pieces. All of this was undisclosed of course. She even screwed me on shipping. I requested registered and insured shipping which was duly charged ($54) and she sent it regular parcel post ($15). I was fuming.

    Lesson learned.

    I regret buying #75192 UCS Falcon. I was super hyped about getting it when I moved into my new house. I spend a week building it. And now it just sits on my shelf and I think about all the other stuff I could have bought. As I have really lost interest in Star Wars.

    It all started with Alien Conquest back in 2011. Was able to buy 12 of the $10 boxed set for half price when they discounted them out. I had a helluva time convincing the Lego store that I wasn't a reseller. I just wanted to build an army.

    It's not right now (I just checked), but a short while ago there were a few eBay stores that had it for around A$100. Coupled with a 10% off site-wide code, I could have gotten a bit better value for money.

    Also worth adding that here in Australia, where we have a grand total of ZERO LEGO brand stores, we get to purchase Ideas sets from a few different sources.  Before anyone gets excited - in nearly every instance we pay more than anywhere else in the world.

    Parisian Restaurant #10243. I really didn’t enjoy building it and it doesn’t fit my city. I only buy about one big set a year so I feel like I got the wrong one that time. I let other people influence my purchase and was afraid it would be gone

    Got it in a lot, didnt buy it outright, but Geonosian Fighter looks like a chunky piece of human excrement.

    Simpsons House. Thought it would look good in my Lego city, but it's a little out of place since I don't have a single other Lego house. Every other building is a modular.

    It also looks really dull and plain on the outside, since there are pretty much zero designs whatsoever in the facade.

    I feel the same way about the Kwik-E Mart.  It's out-of-scale for modulars.  I've moved both sets off of my modular city.

    I regret buying the #75095 UCS Tie fighter #75059 Sandcrawler.  I only bought them because it was during the time UCS set really didn't get discounted.  I could have used that money on other sets that are more of interests to me.

    My vote goes to the new wave of Creator 3-in-1 houses: the Modular Family Villa, Modular Poolside home, and the rest of the new style houses that are the smaller subsections built around a standard frame. Their ease of changing layouts makes them prone to falling apart, and they don't hold a candle to the older 3-in-1s like #6754 and especially #31012's main build when it comes to aesthetics. But, I needed houses to flesh out the 'burbs in Brickadelphia so I got a few of them and have been disappointed with nearly all. 

    Agreed about the Simpsons sets not fitting a city - I got the Kwik-E-Mart for the sole purpose of reimagining it into a Wawa. It's a great parts source for any convenience store, especially if you have the pieces to make the exterior not yellow.

    In all seriousness, there aren't any I regret buying, but wish I'd be less influenced by immediate purchases that I don't build right away, pay RRP for, then find for less. Yes, Im talking to you Mack Truck, new UCS Snowspeeder and YWing.
