Double points + a raffle + the world's smallest poster + a figure I could have got in the supermarket = toilet.
If they can do it for the comic conventions, why not for the black VIP?
Is there some trades description they've breached with this?
Really disappointing.
I bought the Falcon because I wanted it. The black VIP card bonuses are just that, bonuses. The bonuses so far are very poor though and I'm glad I didn't expect much from it.
You're making their internet sales marketing people blush...
Star Wars Episode XI: Timmy's Revenge
Anyone have any ideas what we can expect next? I'm discarding the DJ polybag as 'not a Black VIP exclusive'. But we've also essentially gone through all the promos on the the original leaflet sent out with the Black VIP cards. Still holding out hope for that mega-early access to the UCS Cloud City ;)
I don't think they have breached any contract terms that you would be able to claim that. This was the phrase they used ... Special offers will include points promotions, special events, gifts with purchase and more! The offers will be shared directly with applicable VIPs throughout 2018.
They have done a points promotion, a couple of gifts with purchase, the raffle/contest.
This image even showed DJ as an exclusive reward, so they would be in more trouble if they did not give that one away.
I can understand people are disappointed but I think that is more down to their expectation rather than LEGO not doing what they said. Plus we are only half way through the year so far.
I don't think LEGO have given away DJ before, so in that sense, it is an exclusive LEGO reward - he is only available to black card holders. The downside of course is that Tesco got to give him away / sell him first. Would it have been any different if LEGO did the DJ giveaway before that?
Having it available in Tesco earlier in the year just means I see this promotion as somewhat redundant, at least in the UK. Should be fairly cheap on Bricklink too because there were quite a few going around. Bryan's R2 D2 is probably the only truly exclusive benefit so far in some senses - at least he doesn't appear to be a reseller - many of which will have Black VIP cards in their name (or auctioned off). That could've been awkward...
The only other time I saw them was a little pile of them about a week ago in Tesco Extra in Weighbridge, Surrey.
Presented here for reference and information.
I have changed the names to protect the guilty. Sent about 9am.
They replied pretty swiftly today by about 12pm.
Feel free to shoot me down for the spoilt brat that I am. However, it's interesting that there are "several" promotions left... I won't hold my breath, but I'm inclined to think that paragraph is encouraging. It is isn't it?
We can all be spoilt brats occasionally, but it's still intriguing to 'poke the bear' as it were occasionally and see if any juicy information slips out. Alas, "there will be more promotions" is not quite what we wanted" but on the positive side, at least they don't stop after doing all the promos on the original Black VIP card letter. And now they're all mysteries! We'll almost certainly get something with the August release Star Wars sets.
"No. There is another"
#30602 - They've still got a pallet of those left over from May 4th 2016!
"fanastic" :-)
FWIW, I think your message was well written, not whingeing, helpful in letting them understand your expectations and polite. I'm not sure you could've written it better.
One thing I've just thought of (and I'm sorry if it's been covered already) is that any other promotion is 'while stocks last' but presumably they would need to make sure there was an offer available for every black card holder (even if ultimately some wouldn't claim it). That might cause logistics issues if the number of black cards out there is significant.
Alongside the Han & Mine Worker polys, I also would be open to the idea of:
It is a victory for everyone.
Is Lando's nickname for Han's card-playing ability?
Is Chewbacca's favorite meal in a can?
Is how to describe Maul being shoehorned into this movie?
Is why Greedo shoots first?
I looked back at the black VIP postal card again (because that's what you do when you're clutching at straws) and wondered what TLG were meaning by 'exclusive access' in the third panel? Assuming 'contests' means the white gold R2-D2 (interestingly this was plural so maybe we'll have another?) and 'rewards' means the rather mundane polybags & poster - is 'access' meant to mean the x2 points promo? It doesn't really make much sense and it alluded to an actual product or release being exclusive. Still trying to be as optimistic as I can, but it's getting very much more difficult going into the ninth month of the year.
