Are you sure you want to do that?  It's possible that they sent you some really expensive rocks
  • pharmjodpharmjod Member Posts: 2,916
It was from a reputable site with a legit return policy. No real risk to me. I examined the open box and found the instructions missing and inner boxes opwn. I assume other stuff was missing too. I'm sending it back to the seller with an rma.

The instructions seem to be worth ~$75 USD anyway, so missing them is a pretty big deal if they were meant to be included.

Just read on FBTB that an email was sent out about a promo for the DJ figure. Anyone get the email? Check mine including spam, and it's not there. Talk about another disappointing promo.

If it coincides with the 2x points that might be interesting

I did receive the email, but yeah, pretty disappointing.
  • Mr_CrossMr_Cross Member Posts: 1,713
This isn't complaining, but that DJ figure is NOT exclusive. Honestly, LEGO needs to step up. If I'd put this promotion together I'd be ashamed of myself.
Double points + a raffle + the world's smallest poster + a figure I could have got in the supermarket = toilet.
If they can do it for the comic conventions, why not for the black VIP?
Is there some trades description they've breached with this?
    Really disappointing.

No strings attached though as far as minimum purchase or only Star Wars. Free polybag is not a bad deal. I'm just mad some guy name Bryan won the precious metal R2 and not me.

l got the email. The email talks about the winner of the R2D2 and at the bottom has the code. l don't have DJ yet so l guess l will use it. But not really something to brag about.

All orders, providing you enter the code....

I have my code. Will need to check if i'm going to use mine, if not i'll offer it up to someone here, not a minifig i'm particularly interested in.

I was waiting till June 30th for the double VIP points to make a purchase, so hopefully they have some extra DJ figs left by then. I love how LEGO included the “while supplies last” disclaimer in the email. Which makes me think they don’t even have enough of the stupid DJ figs for all of the Black card members.  Yet another hella lame black card promo:(
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged Member Posts: 2,276
Plus the fact that this DJ offer is online only, it basically means you either have to spend whatever the threshold is to get free shipping to get him (£55/$75?), or you have to pay £4 (shipping) to get him.

You only get until June 30th from now (or while stock lasts) to claim DJ which is even worse. Remember Double VIP overlaps on the last day of this promo (at least in the UK).

I bought the Falcon because I wanted it. The black VIP card bonuses are just that, bonuses. The bonuses so far are very poor though and I'm glad I didn't expect much from it.

A free exclusive DJ figure. That's fantastic news! Finally I'll be able get another of the most generic minifigs ever based on one of the lamest characters ever from by far the worst Star Wars movie ever to go with the five I got free from Tesco over two months ago. I feel positively giddy with anticipation.
I thought the DJ fig was good and I loved the character in the movie...

Star Wars Episode X: The Search for Bryan
Star Wars Episode XI: Timmy's Revenge

Anyone have any ideas what we can expect next? I'm discarding the DJ polybag as 'not a Black VIP exclusive'. But we've also essentially gone through all the promos on the the original leaflet sent out with the Black VIP cards. Still holding out hope for that mega-early access to the UCS Cloud City ;)

there was just a 50% off offer on the 2nd set here at maxitoys, and it included the MF. all sold out. better than a black card for those that took advantage of it.

VIPs get double VIP this month on JW 75928 and 75929.  75928 puts you over the free shipping threshold and you can use your DJ code.

    Really disappointing.

I don't think they have breached any contract terms that you would be able to claim that. This was the phrase they used ... Special offers will include points promotions, special events, gifts with purchase and more! The offers will be shared directly with applicable VIPs throughout 2018.

They have done a points promotion, a couple of gifts with purchase, the raffle/contest.

This image even showed DJ as an exclusive reward, so they would be in more trouble if they did not give that one away.

I can understand people are disappointed but I think that is more down to their expectation rather than LEGO not doing what they said. Plus we are only half way through the year so far.

I don't think LEGO have given away DJ before, so in that sense, it is an exclusive LEGO reward - he is only available to black card holders. The downside of course is that Tesco got to give him away / sell him first. Would it have been any different if LEGO did the DJ giveaway before that?

It would have been different for me - if I felt I'd gone through much of the year with no chance to get the DJ polybag at all and then TLG pulled it out as a Black VIP reward then I would've made a purchase immediately, doubting whether it would be available elsewhere. If it popped up in Tesco a couple of months later it would be slightly disappointing but I'd have felt satisfied that the promo was at least truly exclusive for that time and they were just getting rid of excess stock.

Having it available in Tesco earlier in the year just means I see this promotion as somewhat redundant, at least in the UK. Should be fairly cheap on Bricklink too because there were quite a few going around. Bryan's R2 D2 is probably the only truly exclusive benefit so far in some senses - at least he doesn't appear to be a reseller - many of which will have Black VIP cards in their name (or auctioned off). That could've been awkward...

Didn't the poster remain (a pretty crummy) exclusive, except for mistakes in giving them out.

@Redbullgivesuwind - Yes, although I traded one recently for a Pyjamas Emmet. I got them from a Tesco (in Galeshead) before the promo was originally meant to run so it was a real headache at the till. But then right around the time the promo should have started, all the displays and minifigs were removed.

The only other time I saw them was a little pile of them about a week ago in Tesco Extra in Weighbridge, Surrey.

The comment about "how come you can produce pretty nice US Comic Con exclusive sets and not provide anything like that to your BVIP card owners?" cuts deep - if they had to explain it (which they won't) they'd probably have to say something like "it's to advertise a sales event". At least we (worldwide) stood a chance of winning the white gold R2-D2 - I stand zero chance of winning a comic con exclusive in San Diego because I'm unlikely to go there specifically to have a chance of winning an exclusive set.

We can all be spoilt brats occasionally, but it's still intriguing to 'poke the bear' as it were occasionally and see if any juicy information slips out. Alas, "there will be more promotions" is not quite what we wanted" but on the positive side, at least they don't stop after doing all the promos on the original Black VIP card letter. And now they're all mysteries! We'll almost certainly get something with the August release Star Wars sets.

    "No.  There is another"

#30602 - They've still got a pallet of those left over from May 4th 2016!

    "fanastic" :-)

FWIW, I think your message was well written, not whingeing, helpful in letting them understand your expectations and polite. I'm not sure you could've written it better.

One thing I've just thought of (and I'm sorry if it's been covered already) is that any other promotion is 'while stocks last' but presumably they would need to make sure there was an offer available for every black card holder (even if ultimately some wouldn't claim it). That might cause logistics issues if the number of black cards out there is significant.

Thanks @monkeyhanger & @Rainstorm26. Email sent to CS. Not too upset about missing this offer as I have a DJ. But more concerned that I have stopped getting the VIP emails! Still getting the marketing emails (e.g. got one telling me the falcon is now available after this offer)

Personally, I think the Comic-Con 75512 Solo Falcon cockpit set (https://images.brickset.com/sets/large/75512-1.jpg?201806200253) would make a wonderful benefit for the cardholders. They could drop the Comic-Con packaging to avoid a conflict. Perhaps unlikely, but anyone from TLG reading this out there...

Huh. I wrote them, too, since I had Addicted2Oxygen's problem of suddenly not getting the VIP emails. They fixed that, but didn't hook me up with a code. Now I'm a little chagrined.

That response Mr Cross got from Customer Service is nice, but in light of how I was dealt with, I'm not so sure. "Several" can mean, like, three. I'm trying not to think about it too much, since in the great scheme of things, I have a UCS Falcon, and that's all I wanted in the first place. The rest, as they say, is gravy.
  • NicksBricksNicksBricks Member Posts: 314
Customer Service didn't give me a code, because it wouldn't work since the promotion ended. :( Instead they just sent me a DJ minifig. :)

There will probably one or two more. I expect they have saved the best for last even if it isn't much. I would be pleased with the Kessel Miner or Sloppy Han or whatever it is called polys.

Filthy Han or the Kessel Mine Worker would indeed be decent GWPs, particularly if exclusive to black VIP card holders (which I doubt). There's also a strong chance of another fairly redundant double VIP points promo. A couple of years ago there was a big (triple?) points promo when I was at the Lego Store in the Great Western Brick Show (early Oct) so I'd expect more of the same, even if not just for black card VIPs.

Alongside the Han & Mine Worker polys, I also would be open to the idea of:
    • The Solo vehicle polys such as AT-Hauler & TIE Fighter that seem rare so far
    • A larger format Solo film or 2018 collection poster, with custom artwork
    • A CC blueprint similar to the Y-Wing (though, still a little meh)
    • Triple or quadruple VIP points for Star Wars transactions (but TLG never offer x4)
    • Free Star Wars non-System merch, like a Black VIP t-shirt or something
    • Early 'official' previews of 2019 January Star Wars sets
    • A slightly larger boxed set we haven't seen yet like the San Diego or Space Slug ones
    • An invite to continue or transfer to another program for the next year (with hopefully better promos)
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,236
Han shot first! No other possibility exists. 9-year-old me understood that Greedo was about to shoot Han, therefore it was self-defense. In the revised version where Greedo shoots first... he's such a bad shot, Han was in no danger. He was apparently in the safest place to be: on the other side of a small table from Greedo! Greedo made stormtroopers look like good shots.

^ this is exactly why one specific scene of Solo is quite pleasing as a nod to fans. Trying to be a little generic here as someone will still scream 'spoiler' probably for the next year or so if I go into any more detail.

I looked back at the black VIP postal card again (because that's what you do when you're clutching at straws) and wondered what TLG were meaning by 'exclusive access' in the third panel? Assuming 'contests' means the white gold R2-D2 (interestingly this was plural so maybe we'll have another?) and 'rewards' means the rather mundane polybags & poster - is 'access' meant to mean the x2 points promo? It doesn't really make much sense and it alluded to an actual product or release being exclusive. Still trying to be as optimistic as I can, but it's getting very much more difficult going into the ninth month of the year.
