First off, I think you are a contrarian.

Second, I think this exposes a rather chilling design flaw in the figure - Does the Cowboy part of the figure have no legs?  Or is he wearing brown chaps?

Or it is just a hat-wearing head placed on the back of s horse!?!?!?!

The hooves are printed on both the front legs and the rear, so they are all horse legs.

So yes, the cowboy has no legs.

In related news, I want a Bernie Clifton ...

This is what I think the "Cowboy" fig is supposed to be,

    https://www.amazon.com/Forum-Novelties-Mens-Horse-Costume/dp/B00WLW535M

So its a Cowboy riding a horse, which I guess could be argued as both a cowboy costume and an animal costume.

Went to the local garden centre for a few bits, turns out in among the candles, mugs with your name on and other non green fingered tat they sell LEGO! Not much choice but there was a near empty box of CMFs. Found the balloon boy and the cat and a second dragon for our friend in Wales. Still yet to find the elephant man yet

” Still yet to find the elephant man yet”

you will be having great difficulty because it is an Elephant Girl, well according to LEGO.

I have a question: Is the Birthday Cake Guy a COSTUME figure? Or is he simply a guy popping out of the cake. I ask because I'm trying to collect all Costume figs. Thanks for any insights.

Probably the latter. I think his clothes won't have the stains if he was simply cosplaying a cake(unless he's just paying attention to details.) If he was, I think it'd be similar design to the brick guy/gal, with the cake part covering the upper torso imho.

Mini-centaur?  It has a beast head, minifigure head, minifigure legs.

    It's an El Caminotaur.

I saw a case at WalMart that looked rummaged through, but Policeman was still in the back left. Found some Dragon, Unicorn, Clown and Cactus as well - though since those are just above breakeven, I might pass in the future

Be on the safe side and get it anyway. If you later change your mind you'll probably have to pay more to get hold of one.

we have lame stores here that hardly get any of the new sets until it's close enough to christmas (you are more likely to find 2015 sets than 2018 ones). I guess they are skipping this series, like last year.

Finally completed the set yesterday (Cactus Girl, Cat Girl, Birthday Boy and Clown). Never got a swap either - the figures are quite easy to locate by feel.

On another note, decided to call brick boy "Bricky" (Ricky), and brick girl "Bricktoria". Terrible, I know.

The Classic Policeman isn't feeling very rare in the UK to me any more, I keep finding boxes languishing in supermarkets that still have the Policeman in them. Wondering how big a police force my little town needs!
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,459
I've been surprised to find a Policeman figure in a box that only had about half a dozen packs left in it - bag was still towards the back of the left section, looked untouched.

I think it's a case of the initial hype wearing off, those that can't wait and refuse to risk missing out have already payed the premium, those later to acquiring some for sale are having to compete more on price with a bigger supply and there are probably still some people chancing finding them in the wild rather than paying a premium.

^ Agree wholeheartedly.  I've gone looking maybe four or five times maximum. First popo was from a freshly opened case while the second was from a case that had a grand total of THREE bags left in it - two brick boy/girl (didn't bother checking) and a skinny bag that was immediately obvious that it was the policeman...
Outside of its exclusivity, it's just not that desirable a fig!!!

Which to me is why it's a great choice for a "chase figure" - easy one to ignore if you don't get it, but has nice significance for those really interested in collecting. Unlikely to be many kids disappointed in not getting one.

^ I like that school of thought!  Little Timmy isn't disappointed while the man upstairs is acting like a whiny little bitch...
Theres something almost poetic to it...

Yep, entirely. In fact, back on page 1 (Jan 26) I wrote ...

Given that there are 17, I wonder what the distribution will be like. It'll be interesting if one is rarer (maybe one per box). And if one is rare, it makes sense that it is the odd one out, the policeman. The classic figure that is there all by himself in a series that he doesn't seem to belong. So people could end up paying $20-30 or something crazy for a figure that would probably be $1 on BL.

Interestingly enough, there was the one police officer and the rest were either brick suit guys or brick suit girls...all thoroughly "felt up." The one I've struggled the most to find has been the cat costume girl. Initially I could find the cat costume girl, but when I finally wanted to pick one up she went AWOL. I finally gave up and purchased a sealed copy last night on eBay. I think I'm officially done with this series now...

But I once shot a man in Reno... just to watch him die.

Anyway... Little Timmy is just fine with his Mr. Gold and Policeman.  And his stack of Tower Bridges and VW Camper Vans.

I still haven't found a policeman, but maybe it's just my luck as never seem to go by any stores that have them... and my Tesco is one of the types to put individual packs into clear boxes you have to get the till to open, so that's out!

That was pretty much the price of a used original one before S18 came along.

I've been watching for S18 boxes closely.  Over past 3-4 weeks I've seen several full to near full boxes show up on shelves in various Walmarts, Targets, and a couple other stores.  In all cases Policeman was gone.  Guess my timing was just that much better when they first came out.  But around here Policeman is still hard to find.  And in general there are not a lot of S18 packs that remain on the shelf for long.
  • LegolisLegolis Member Posts: 248
I'm seeing the boxes disappearing near me now. Our local W H Smiths seems to be sold out, and there were only 6 packets left in Hobbycraft yesterday. I'm glad I went hunting for mine on day 1, although I agree with the suggestion he's a bit boring. The most popular figures in our house were the balloon kids.

Out of curiosity, I know there is only one policeman per box but do we know how many boxes are produced?
  • TheFewTheFew Member Posts: 1,779
Not seen a box of S18 in my local stores for months. In my area it seems that each supermarket just got one box in and once they sold... No more!
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
All my local Sainsburys have been getting at least one new box in every week or so. Even the small Sainsburys Locals.
  • teal93mr2teal93mr2 Member Posts: 1,009
In my area, I have not seen many S18 except at Lego stores in the last month or so.  The targets, WMs, and B&Ns all seemed to get one case and that was it.
  • BrickByBrickBrickByBrick Member Posts: 744
My Walmart and B&N stil have some, target hasn't had any in ages. Five bekob is a great place to look, my local store had 3 boxes still (but no more policemen, I took the last one
  • chrisalddinchrisalddin Member Posts: 3,040
so there i was in sainsburys looking at the £2 each S18 box. with 6 packs left in it.
so i get to feeling them up (yes yes i said it) and low and behold. there is what i think is #71021-8 Classic Police Officer. with only 6 left in the box. (2x Birthday Cake Guy, 1x Brick Suit Guy, 1x Cactus Girl and what turned out to be 1x Firework Guy) did not know it was Firework Guy till i got home as i have him and did not need him a 2nd time "oh well" feeling up feil..... but i was right with Classic Police Officer it was him.... and remeber there was only 6 left in the box.. what a find!

    @chrisalddin - I have a similar story. Found a Classic policeman in Sainsburys yesterday for £2 :-)
Along with a few other S18 doubles I wanted.
