    Added another CMF and a few polybags, but other than filling orders, been taking it easy with my store as I just got back into an old non-LEGO hobby

    Placed a few hundred dollar BL orders this evening for a massive MOC I'm planning...  pretty certain I at least hit @danstraindepot store, but I could be wrong... hopefully, I hit more! Always fun buying from Bricksetters!

    I have listed a bunch of items recently, and now now past 40k total. Orders have been flying in lately, so far I’ve had over 50 in may. The past two months have been by far the strongest for my store.

    Haha small world! Getting quite a lot of small orders at the moment - possibly something to do with the amount I'm adding with me trying to finally get through the "to part out" pile - the problem is with the recent Tesco and Sainsbury's offers that pile is growing, not getting smaller!

    Yeah I find deals faster than I find time to list them. new inventory selling fast and drawing attention to the rest of the store is part of the idea.

    Parted out a #10836 last night and that's more than I've done in awhile. Also reorganized my DUPLO storage to make it easier to get to.

    This worked - a couple days ago I was able to fill a DUPLO part order quickly before leaving for my regular job.

    Today I stayed home to sort stuff and that was also successful. Parted out 4 #72001, opened boxes weeks ago but hadn't gone through the bags til now. Two minifigures were built out of several pieces and that was annoying to sort.

    It's about time to put in the window air conditioner, which first requires moving the BrickLink inventory stored near that window. Needed to organize it anyway. Sorted polybags. Parted out 5 #10742 (they'd been lying around half sorted)

    Finally back to sorting the rest of my 48 #10704 - it's been too long, I need the space (sorted parts take up less volume than unopened bags), and it seemed like a good weekend project.

    Busy weekend. 10 orders ready to be mailed today, about the most I've had at once. I had an event for a non-LEGO hobby, which made it even more hectic; otherwise, some of this would've been done Saturday.
    Many of the orders were bulk purchases of parts in 10704, so listing those worked.

    Finally finished sorting and listing 10704; did the green bags over the past week or so.
    Part out ratio 2.65 even after price cuts - very good especially for a large quantity and already being sorted by color.

    Next up is 7 #40161 or 7 #10404, the highest quantity/value not yet listed I have left, or maybe something I did list but haven't quite finished sorting

    Orders have been steady, a few most days, and most simple and/or high value.

    Have any of you that sell sets, or even the parts, noticed a huge increase in demand for Bionicle of late? I've had a load sat around not doing a lot for a while now, but over the summer I've sold a tremendous amount.

    Mine to! Previously getting 1 or 2 orders a day. Now seems to be 1 order every 3 or 4 days. 

    also not had a single brickowl order in at least a week possibly 2.

    Funny that @SumoLego liked that post - a lot of the one-ofs in my inventory, lower on my to-do list than the higher-quantity items mentioned, are from him.

    I've been sorting some already listed stuff. I haven't finished any particular set, so I can't condense my part storage much. Yet the parts I have done will be easier to find once ordered.

    @DB361 I haven't noticed anything different about Bionicle sales. As with @TheFew and @alexwil comments about orders going down, there doesn't seem to be a trend.

    I had a just about average June and quite a slow July. Just back from holidays, re-opened the store yesterday and got an order this morning on BrickOwl, so can't say much about August yet.

    I had my largest order to date this weekend; 4,500+ parts in 285 lots!

    They'll be heading off to a lovely buyer tomorrow!

    Oh, and I also had my 713th order - which ironically wasn't at all Harry Potter related!

    ^ Congrats! But in a way I don't envy you the task of picking all those lots...

    I'm getting closer and closer to the 250k parts. Another month or so and I'll reach that milestone. Unless big orders come through, which I'd totally be okay with :D

    Speaking of orders, the numbers seem to be going back to normal after the June-July slump.

    Did the 285 lot order take a few days and did the buyer understand this?
    My highest-lot order ever was 210. Usually they're one or a few lots, maybe a couple dozen. I worry that one missing lot will throw off the rest of the order, but that rarely happens except slight delays in finding it or waiting for a buyer answer on what to do. If postage is fairly economical to send as multiple packages I sometimes do that so I don't have to wait to sort everything before mailing something.

    As for your 713th order not being Harry Potter related - had to look that up. Gringotts Vault 713 is where Dumbledore kept the Philosopher's Stone before moving it to Hogwarts. I'm reminded of when BrickLink order numbers started with 66 and involved Star Wars pieces. (Order 66 was Palpatine's plan to exterminate the Jedi)

    @KingAlanI - I pulled all of the parts on Monday.  Fortunately it was a Bank Holiday, so I didn't have much else to do, and it was almost entirely three colours which made it easier to handle.  I've invested quite a bit of time sorting all of my inventory by colour and part type, and that's really helped my processing efficiency.

    And, yes, I was referring to the Gringott's vault.  I've been re-reading all of the books in the last few months whilst I was eagerly awaiting the release of the new sets, and I'd almost forgotten how good they are :-)

    Made a classic mistake yesterday. I had a handful of orders and wanted to get them all in the post at the same time to save hassle. So I did!

    Problem is one of the orders is unpaid and is from a new bricklink member with zero feedback. So now thinking I will be lucky to get paid before the parts arrive. A bit annoying, but only £7 so not too much of an expensive lesson to learn.

    @Lobot sometimes the sorting does go quickly especially if you have time and energy for long sessions rather than a bit at a time. If the different lots are related (such as your 3 colors) it does make them easier to find. Related color and type of parts, like black bricks, is even better.

    Almost done listing 3 #41600 - simple, got most of it done right after I started but took a couple days to get around to finishing.

    Thats a pretty simple part out :) I'm in the middle of 3 x #31084 - It's the putting away the parts that drains the time. I can see why some people don't consolidate lots. 

    I have a pretty bug shame pile right now and I've promised myself I'll get that down and listed before buying too much more.

    Last night I left the remaining parts on my desk to make sure I finished after I got up

    I feel consolidating lots helps with physical inventory. If they're in the same place they're easier to find later. Pouring more pieces in the same bag is easier than getting out and labeling another bag. Even if I need a bigger bag I can often just peel off and re-stick the label. And it makes the online listings simpler.

    I parted out 5 earlier, so I could use the same bag unless the part sold in the meantime. I could've kept the same prices but did double check them.

    Now on to some #70324, one of the messy parts of *my* big shame pile. I have avoided buying more but that hasn't helped me cut down on the current pile.

    I Definitely prefer consolidating. As you say, it's more work to put away but much easier to pick. 

    I must admit, I'm much better at buying sets for part out than I am at actually parting them out :)

Those 70324's I bought months ago and there was another I listed before that and hadn't quite finished sorting. I sorted and listed lot by lot to make sure I didn't get anything mixed up.

    Parted out 7 #40161, which were easier to sort. The set has high items per lot, and the bags are minifigures/accessories/focused on a particular color, similar to #10704. Also, I didn't have partially sorted bags to the extent I did with 70324, so less disorganization to plow through.

    Still I did most of it quickly but took a few days to get around to finishing it.

    With those boxes out of the way, I could move a pile of bins that had been in an awkward spot in my room. Those sets combined were much of my backlog - I'm hoping to clear the deck by late November so I can focus on what I get from Thanksgiving sales.

    Last time at WalMart, passed on a 1-of with mediocre part out value - I feel virtuous for not adding to the pile. In general I've avoided more storage bins, and found ways to use more, as the unused ones are themselves annoying to store.

    I use Sharpie on sticky labels to label parts bags - compared to writing on the bag it's easier to read (especially with dark pieces) and can be transferred to a different size bag. I ran low and am happy with what I got from OnlineLabels.com

    Listed a bag of used dark bley parts I found lying around. That took me over 5000 lots (though nearly 1500 are stockroom). Also while checking the numbers I noticed that the 40161's took me past 100K parts and $13,000.

    Listing more stuff always works for me.

    Also, moving to a different country with a blue, white, and red striped flag with stars would probably help, but that seems a tad extreme. ;)

    @TheFew - It's a very good question!

    As mentioned by @SprinkleOtter, adding new inventory usually helps but I don't think that there's any definite 'rules' to making a success of selling on Bricklink (or if they exist, I haven't found them!).  However, my best advice would be to accept that they'll be peaks and lulls in sales, even if you account for seasonal fluctuations, and just keep working at it.

    You seem to have a good range of stock, but here's a couple of thoughts:

    • Update your Splash page - add a few bullet points with key details at the top
    • Include a link to the Post Office website and mention typical starting costs (e.g. UK, Europe, USA & Canada)
    • 'Consolidate' any new inventory into existing lots - this may help to attract buyers when searching for larger quantities.  For example, you have 12 x 3709bs in DBG - but in 4 lots so if someone does a search with a minimum of 10 set, you don't appear.  This may also discourage any potential buyers when browsing in your store as there's a lot more to click through!  The only downside is that if you do this, they aren't considered as 'New' lots so Bricklink won't generate a Notification email.

    Yes stock expansion is bound to tempt  more people, but I am a bit space limited and hoping to convert some bricks to cash. I thought my stock level was OK...

    Thanks for the pointers I will enact them when newborn allows. @bandit778 pointed bullet no three out to me as well. It seems I have messed up my parting out to a degree :-)

    It may also be time to increase the discount to 15%!
