Brickset Bonusball Bonanza - Billund edition v2 - UK draw 19 May 2018

stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
It's Friday, so time for a Bonus Ball! And yes, it's another Billund edition!

I'll be in Billund for most of next week, so it's only proper to share some of the joy with fellow Bricksetters. The prize this week is again some LEGO House swag for the winner. If you already have those, or you simply don't fancy them, I'm sure I can dig out something else!

For anybody new to this: it's simple. Answer the question below, and get a number based on your post in order between 1 and 59. If your number gets drawn on Saturday night for the UK national lottery bonus ball you win the prize. If you don't make the first 59 replies, well there's always next week to be a little quicker.

So, on to this week's question:

Of the sets you have built so far this year, what is your favourite? Mine is #40235 Year of the Dog. It's just so cute!

Don't forget, we are always looking for draw hosts. So if you'd like to volunteer please drop @snowhitie a PM.

This question made me realize how depressingly few sets I've been able to build this year. A few tiny things aside all I have built is the new Diner and watched my son build the new Technic Rally Car which were both excellent.

Without a doubt #41597 - such a fun set to spend a day playing with, tempted to get more to make more people!

I'm going for one I didn't even build myself (but I partially helped my daughter).

#41193 Elves - Song of the Wind Dragon.

You really see different things in a set when you watch a child build then play with it. Some of these Elves sets are so well designed and stuffed full of play features.

My set building has been fairly limited this year, but I'll go with #70615 Fire Mech.

Along the lines of CCC above, I more partially helped my son as it was his birthday present. But I found it to be an enjoyable build!

It'd have to be #41015 - Dolphin Cruiser.
Did a double build with my eldest daughter. She building the new one she got for her birthday, me building one I'd found in a charity shop, adding the half dozen missing parts.
It's probably also been the most played with so far this year

I’d have to say #21310 Old Fishing Store. It was a fantastic build, my favorite in quite a while.

I haven't had much time to build at all this year, so I'll have to say #30526 Mini Ultimate Batmobile. I have 3 copies so I built all three models (Batmobile, Batwing, and Battank) and combined them.

Crap.  What have I built recently?  I built #75169 for my 4 year old.  Really liked the nostalga of the scene (I had seen the Episode One in theaters with my parents and siblings), and was fascinated by the play feature once it was all assembled (the opening/closing of the "laser gate").

Probably the Friends amusement park sets I built to use in a club amusement park collaborative layout.

    Shit, I haven’t built anything!

What do I have but not yet built?  A really tough question.

    Maybe #10018 Darth Maul?

My favorite build this year (not really a set) was the Arvo Brothers Chestburster. Its ace. Now I want to build an Aliens APC to minifigure scale.

Good question, probably #75209 Solo's speeder. Its a compact model, but so many pieces and features.

My favourite set built this year has been #75178 the Jakku Quadjumper.

To be fair this is only about the third 'set' I've built this year due to most of my Lego related year being taken up with either sorting and counting bricks for my Rebrickable stash or building other creations.

Which brings me nicely to my all time favourite build of the year (and so far) which has to be Mortesv's stunning Tantive build.
This took a long time to come to fruition but in the end was such a fun and worthwhile project that turned out so much better than I was originally anticipating (to the point where it's the only thing I've built that I don't plan on taking apart).

The full set of series 18 CMFs that I left my grandson alone with for a few minutes. Came back to find 22 opened bags and one big pile of parts, and we had fun sorting everything out and putting them together.

A close second would be #493 Classic Space Command Center that had been in my cousin's attic since since the early 1990s.

The only things I've managed to build this year have been for set reviews. Probably my favourite, and surprising even myself is #21140 Minecraft Chicken Coop. It's just a bonkers thing and I like that.

I’ve got a bit of a back lot of sets. But I loved the brickheadz brick yourself. I’m not much for mocking but this gave me a taste.

Finally managed to build many of the sets stashed away the last few weeks, Ninjago City was fun.

Um.  I built... the minifigures for S18?  And I helped correct some errors on the #21137 Minecraft Mountain Cave.

Maybe in 2019 I'll get to the backlog...

Built #21130 with my nephew and really loved how the railway and car work together.

Captain Phasma BrickHeadz was pretty good, too.

As I’ve only built one set  #75187 BB-8 it has to be that!

Set #60181 Forest Tractor - not really my thing usually but it caught my eye on the shelf and I built it as soon as I got home. It's a simple enough build but it looks fantastic, exactly like the 2 used by the nearby farmer, same colour scheme too except for the wheel rims.

Has to be Ninjago city for me, although the forest tractor and go brick me are close joint seconds. Thanks again to @stlux for hosting.

It might be quite an old set but I picked it up in a sale and found the Ninjago #70738 Destiny's Bounty set a great detailed build. The dragon looks brilliant guarding the books on my bookshelf. :)

The only sets I've built (nearly on my own) this year were #76107 and #76102, got them for parts but without minifigures on ebay. Nice builds and I love the joining of the two ships.
Otherwise all my "building" has been more "finding parts" for my son whilst he builds. Still fun and in many ways nicer than building on my own, but rewarding in a different way.

    Thanks for hosting!

Ooh, that's a difficult but good question, good thing I got my photo diary to check what I built this year ;) Ninjago City was great and very divers. Big Ben felt like a big achievement since it was over a long period and lots of fiddling and I love the finished look of the model. It was also strangely calming. Go Brick Me has given me lost of fun and the Green Creator dinosaurs are so versatile with a little amount of pieces. The Old fishing store was only finished yesterday so is freshest in my mind and definitly one of the top ones. There's been so much Lego building fun already.

But I think the best one is the Diner. It looks amazing and it was great fun to build. Lots of interesting techniques and it just looks A-MA-Zing finished too.

Thanks for hosting another Billund edition @stlux and have a great amount of fun over there!

Been a light year for me, so I'd have to say the new speed champs Ferrari garage. The cars though sticker heavy are fantastic (and thanks to a 50% off deal I lucked into a fair price)

I’ve bought quite a few sets, but really haven’t built many yet, unfortunately. I did build #21310 Old Fishing Store which I love and still stands in the dining room. Most sets get relegated to the Lego room after a few days, while this has been standing for 2 months now. Quite the honor!
