Looks nice, and perhaps a trans clear blue baseplate?

I expect the baseplate will be covered in plates than trans blue tiles like Ninjago City. Anxious to get this and NC so I can start planning mocs to go with them better.

A little bit of a let down after Ninjago city, but I'd like to see them side by side first.

Yeah, as a standalone set, definitely not top of the heap, but as an add-on to NC, I think it might be really good.  Only disappointment for me that I'm willing to go on record for right now before we know more:  No Narwhal Soldier.  Sad :(

Love the piggy, even if it is basically the puffer fish from NC recoloured.

Looks good although I'm not sure it's worth the £200 as rumoured. No doubt I'll pick one up to go with my City anyway, have we got a release date?

Being a general release and not a D2C, I'm willing to bet their will be pretty good discounts on it in the future.

Look forward to more pictures hopefully soon.
At first glance no comparison to NC, which is perfectly fine, but it could be a nice amendment.
If the price is right will certainly pick it up.

Any pictures of the front side of the set?
  • AanchirAanchir Member Posts: 3,043
Zusammengebaut has back of box and minifigure pictures from LEGOLAND Billund: https://zusammengebaut.com/lego-ninjago-city-docks-70657-im-legoland-billund-erhaeltlich-48363/

However, the only pic of the other side is on the upper right corner of the back of the box (showing it next to Ninjago City) and none of their photos really have a close-up of that to show the fine details.

I'll be buying this no matter what the price. My Chinatown continues to grow muhahaha!

More pics and description (in German).  Looks to have great details still even if not quite as impressive as the City.

contains 3,553 parts and costs 229.99 euros (RRP).

Maybe I am just becoming jaded but I still can't help but feel underwhelmed by this somehow. I guess the fact that it will be able to be discounted makes it ok. I suppose a lot of the parts are in the water plates and tiles. I also really want to see a hi-res pic of the other side of it.

I still haven't got round to building Ninjago City, but this is going to be a definite purchase, to add to it. I'll probably clear some space and build them both at the same time.

It's a pity the globe is of this world, not Ninjago specific, and that the bigger maps are stickers rather than prints but I'm definitely sold on this.
  • flordflord Member Posts: 797
^ I was just going to post that I was glad they brought the globe back. Been pretty expensive on Bricklink.

For me, this set and the Ninjago City set feel like they are an opportunity for designers to show off what they can do with various pieces and techniques. In the Ninjago docks it looks like they are using black spades as a roof and the Snowplough piece as a roof piece. Everywhere I look I find something interesting - very similar to the Ninjago City build. I just loved that set.

Whilst this was never going to live up to many peoples expectations (Ninjago City was just out of this world), I think we`ve been spoilt and this is still a great set! Looking forward to adding it to my collection and building it! Its my birthday in June so the summer is always a good excuse to pick up some new sets (Rollercoaster and Ninjago docks, here i come!)

There have been a ton of pics across various European shopping sites, of varying quality. Nothing on Lego's cache yet.

O crap! Now i'm going to have to buy #70620 NINJAGO City and the docks. I had resisted getting the City set after I decided to stop collecting Ninjago theme! However, the docks looks great and appears to complement the city nicely.

The Bros Brick and Brickset reviews have relieved me of any skepticism I had for this set. It will be hard waiting for a good deal on this one.

Yep.  I'll be buying this for sure.  The ppp value is just as good as Ninjago City and the design is excellent.  Would love to see a Ninjago modular every June!

Thanks for doing that, lots of great references hidden too deep for me to notice. Glad they got Jack Stone in there, a great companion to the Galidor shirt in Ninjago City!

Slight corrections. 30 actually says Draglev, the name of Ninjago City’s maglev trains. 49 says “Mochi” and appears on a Mochi stand in the art book. I don’t think 40 is meant to be a pun, just a word not written in a straight line, same as how “GARM ADON” is written in one of the samples from the art book. I think the martial arts forms on the scroll in Dareth’s dojo reference his animal styles from his debut episode (The Green Ninja), but can’t confirm that right now.

It's clear to me I need to pick up the art book.

Now that the docks are out, does anyone have a photo of the docks, city, and Destiny’s Bounty all together?
I have two of the three, and will eventually get the docks, when I recover from HP expenditures.  I was thinking the scale of Destiny’s Bounty may not go with the other two in one display.

Does anyone know why, other than nostalgia, Lego decided to place the old Explorien logo on top of the building? No tie-in with the movie in any way?

^ There are several references to other, often older themes in Ninjago City and Docks. I think there's a thread around here somewhere where someone deciphered all of them...
  • ArpieArpie Member Posts: 28
There is even a reference to Galidor *does the Scottish play routine from Blackadder* in NC.  It's good to see Lego connecting back with their heritage and ties the sets in with the idea that they are all in someone's giant Lego basement full of stuff from all over.

Easy way to achieve both the widely diverse signage of the subject matter, and throw a nod to the AFOLs that will enjoy the callback.
