Hopefully we get more fruit/veggie costumes. Tomato, carrot, eggplant, watermelon, turnip would be cool. Perfect for school plays or garden defense.

I feel like the tree stump suit could've been a part of series 18.

I've been learning FCPX and Motion 5 after being a long time user of Adobe After Effects and Premiere, for I'm just a small time graphic designer / Web Developer.

    Here's a link to my fooling around -> https://youtu.be/MLMTfu5BtpI

It's just a rough cut and far from being done.

I still have to finish rebuilding my Minecraft Micro World sets...
I recently did that. Try as I might, I couldn't find any spare 1x1 browns in my collection. Are they particularly rare?

Very very impressed @bandit778, may it long grace your coffee table.

^ was I the only one slightly dissapointed in not seeing a Lego didgeridoo in @Legopants' display?

I've done a bit more work on Big Ben, really want it all to line up perfectly but enjoying it a lot. It's amazing how long all those little pieces take you, whereas the footprint of the thing isn't that massive.

I've never noticed before, but that Hogwarts Express looks ridiculous without large driving wheels! Why on earth did the LEGO designers do that?

That's a very odd choice to make and such a shame. It would be a far nicer model, if they had not included the car, perhaps, and instead used the piece-count to make a proper engine and keep it within the same price-point.

Emerald Night, however, is a thing of beauty, even if the driving wheels are a bit too small! Of course, it's a completely different type of set. :-)

    "Bogie", by the way! :-)

I bought a mistery ring for $3, and was enthused to recherch it.
Started my dig with 2476 (Plate, Modified 2 x 2 W/ Pin on Bottom).
In no time at all I was depressed to find it was all that was left of 7661-1 Jedi Starfighter W/Hiperdrive booster ring.

This was actually an Episode 3 set! It came out before the CGI Clone Wars movie and series turned Clone Wars LEGO sets into a thing.

Note to self - do not attempt to "swoosh" the Falcon (FA version) the night before you are using it in a May the 4th display. Should have been in bed 45 minutes ago, but I had to have some fun while packing up....

So the wife and I are in the process of designing and building a new house. We've gotten the preliminary drawings and are having the construction plans drawn up now. After that we need to get bids on the build and start getting permits. Probably going to get started around the end of July with a planned (loosely) finish date of sometime next March.

What does this have to do with Lego you might ask? It means I'll have to start packing up my currently built collection. I'll leave as much as I can together and only take apart anything I absolutely have too. This also means that I'll have to wait to build my falcon as I dont want to put the behemoth together just to have to try to move it or disassemble it. The same goes for the Downtown Diner that is in my backlog, though technically I dont "have" it yet as its a father's day gift.

Once everything is said and done I'll hopefully have more space for new sets. The basement room that will be their new home will be about 20 feet x 20 feet though some of that will be used for a TV and couch.
It shows as unfinished at the moment but I'm planning on finishing it fairly quickly once the house is done, we just dont want to have to pay the contractor to do that part. The main living area is on the upper floor.

Anyway, it looks like it will be a while before I buy any big sets but I'll hopefully have a nice backlog once its finished.

Inspired by @winchymatt giant Technic builds, I dug out my old #8841 It was my first Technic set, bought as a Christmas present in about 1985. I use to build and rebuild it so many times, either as the Dune Buggy or the Tractor or one of the other alternate builds that were shown on the box and in the instructions. Last night I sorted through my bags of pieces and found 99% of them, its missing one black classic space gun and the rubber tube, I've subbed in grey versions I had kicking about for now.

The old style instructions are just great. A parts list in the box and then its a free for all with minimal direction given, some build views are obscured my the yellow/black border!

And within a few minutes it was finished. Eight year old me would "borrow" a couple of wheels from my brothers Technic box to fill the rear axle and give better traction. I also use to build a cool Morgan three wheeler version as well.

You're probably already aware of this issue, but if you do go looking for that tube part on Bricklink, try to make sure the seller has the right tube listed. iirc, it's the tube that comes in sets like #854, #920 and #6971 and it's thinner walled and made from a slightly different material from the more common pnuematic tubes.
I had a hard time a few years ago when I'd misplaced one. It took about five attempts to get the right one, there were a couple that were the pnuematic stuff from the later sets, one was a stud shorter and one seller sent some weird bluey-grey tube that was all glossy, I don't know where it came from but it wasn't LEGO in origin that's for sure! It wasn't even cut straight!

Cleaning the #7778 Millennium Falcon I picked up a couple of days ago, I've discovered it wasn't as great a steal as I first thought. Some subs + a few missing pieces I'll need to BrickLink, but still a good deal. Turns out, that the friend I grabbed it for (he's not on the FB Lego group I got it from) managed to score one too, so I'm guessing unless my other AFOL friends are wanting one, I now have a Midi Scale Falcon to add to my collection once the parts arrive.

Our school received a great sum of money in order to purchase EV3 sets for all the secondary classes. They need someone to build the robots and to teach the staff how to use the programming software. Someone with experience in Lego robotics and a general proficiency in Lego. Of course, they picked some weird kid from a lower class me.

I was actually in the office today, so was able to pick up 2 of my 3 outstanding BL orders, which have all of the parts for the Balrog Battle MOC and some of The Prancing Pony, so I'll be building the first of those tonight.
It also contains the last two gems, to complete that collection, so I'll post a couple of pics in the requisite thread tonight.

    Well, that is just great!
After reading your Cinco de Mayo post, I immediately had the Mexican hat song stuck in my head. And then Cartman crept in too with his taco flavoured kisses audio hooliganism. What a fiesta.

All winning LEGO morning. Trip to Smyths where we got several polybags, then on to a chap in a village near us who has a collection of Star Wars sets that he displays in his office for May 4th. Entered a competition to win some sets there and had a look at the UCS Falcon he had while eating free biscuits!

After only having a chance to build #75206 Jedi battle pack yesterday, I'm now enjoying aftermath of SW day and building #75103 First Order Transporter, watching Force Awakens tonight so seemed fitting :)

My son is having fun with #70656 Garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON while listening to Harry Potter again. We planned to sit outside and play some games but since the neighbour is doing some 'vertimowing' (I'd never heard of it before but grass is being blown everywhere) it seems to be safer inside at the moment!

Resisted buying any SW sets yesterday, keeping pennies for Harry Potter later in the year. Doubting about the Incredibles sets though, really hope I can find them on a sale somewhere.

Otherwise catching up a bit on the forum since I've not had that much chance of reading/posting lately.

Just picked up my package from bol.com at the post-office which contained:
    #75210     Moloch's speeder
    #40298     DJ polybag
Really like these minifigs with their stands, name tags, and backdrops.

Looking forward to building the speeder tonight!

I built Moloch's Speeder #75210 last night, and decided to take lots and lots of pictures while building it, thinking I might perhaps write a Lego set review for Brickset, and Lego. Something I have not done in years any more. Anyway with all the playing and fidgeting around with my phone trying to take some good photographs, as well as experimenting a bit with the functions on my smartphone-camera, it took forever to build the set. Nonetheless it was fun, and I really love this Lego set.

    @CaptainLego
Have you ever attempted to build all the various sports-cars you do as two seaters?
Similar to the convertible car that is included in the latest modular building set #10260 Downtown Diner. I wish TLG would make that the new standard for all city and speed champion sets: cars in which two minifigs can be seated next to each other.
Don't know if I by writing this just opened up a can of worms?
    ps.
Same goes for trains; I wish the locomotives and carriages would be wider, which means the tracks should also be wider. Six studs space between the tracks instead of four.

I think I have thought about it, but it’s easier to do it the standard way.

^ I've always personally applied stickers so that they're perfectly centred, even when they should be aligned to a certain side or corner such as above. I don't know why. My Palace Cinema sign looks neat but not good. I should stop.
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,269
I think it would have been better to use yellow bricks to make the stripe. It wouldn't be the exact shape, but it would be 100% LEGO, instead of LEGO plus stickers. Or give us the option- build the stripe, or use stickers... if they gave us white and yellow bricks for this, I bet the piece count could have reached 1977!

I like the challenge of stickers, but can never get them lined up like that, usually try to center them as well.

I'm still on Big Ben, no stickers to allign, but lots of 1x1 plates. It's a good thing to do to clear your head, but I'm really not getting them to line up perfectly. It's my FMA (that was the new abbreviaton right? ;) ).

Finally managed to find the DJ polybags in a Tesco Extra in Galashiels (Scottish Borders). They were £4 each, or free with a purchase of any other Lego Star Wars set. Picked up three of them.

(I checked, didn't work if the other set was a DJ. :p)
