Anyone had any luck getting a police man from a random S&H order?

Just thanking you guys for the tips. In one try. Might go back and check for a Dragon, as its the only other one that catches my eye. Thanks again.

Finally was able to finish my series collection today after stopping at a couple places. This includes the classic police man.

Two separate orders of about 12 packages each...and no policeman

No luck finding any more S18 the last few days. I moved Target's older series bags onto fewer pegs in the hopes that they put out S18's on the freed up pegs

As for Policeman being to the left near the back, I've often noticed figures being in particular spots in a case.
59 S18's in stock seems like a technically accurate but disingenuous statement.

@Mr_Cross I've never encountered CMFs behind the counter, but I'm reminded of how I generally get no trouble for going through bags, as long as I'm not blocking an aisle or something. Sometimes security wonders what I'm doing if it's taking awhile, but once I explain it's no big deal.

Found a fresh case at a Walmart that has already had one case out. I suspect it is from the initial shipment they received a couple of weeks ago. So it's worth checking still. I'm curious what other figures in this series will be popular long term. I personally love the dragon, but they all are charming in their own way.

I have a feeling the unicorn guy will also be up there, especially in combination with the unicorn girl from series 13.

I too found a Walmart that restocked with another case since their initial one case on release.  Other Walmarts in the area are still completely wiped out.  Still haven't seen anything at Barnes & Noble.

I am struggling to see the unicorn as an army builder, but maybe bronies around the world will want a bunch to sniff. Perhaps @Pitfall69 can weigh in.

I happen to be a brony and don’t find the unicorn suit characters all that interesting-Dragon Suit seems better to me.

I think a lot of people are considering them to be army builders because they have a sword and shield more than anything.  Personally, I would love an army of them just for kicks, but I'm also not sold on their wider appeal as an army builder either.

The dragon is epic. The potted plant is interesting. The cactus just to actually have a molded cactus in Western scenes. I'm really not seeing an army builder though.

For me, the unicorn doesn't work as an army builder. The bright colours and unicorn details means it doesn't fit in with historical type settings and it is too camp for fantasy. The colours make the inidividual parts just as useless as the figures. If the parts had been grey or silver or gold, then maybe I could have lived with the unicorn emblem.

I have armies of many diverse figures, from the regular Spartans and Romans and other soldiers, Warrior Women and Goddesses,  Indians / Natives, Elves, Gorillas, Divers, Businessmen, Carpenters and Plumbers. But I just cannot think where I would use an army of knights dressed in bright blue pretending to be unicorns. One, as a kid in fancy dress playing unicorns with his friend in the white unicorn suit, is enough for me.

I found a box in Target at Medallion Center in Dallas that looked to have been rifled through with several bags laying on top.  I almost didn't check to see if CP was there, but thankfully I did.  He was there, four from the back left corner.

Thank you Asda Yeovil. Just passing on my way west and found a new unmolested box. Policemen was present and correct and only £2.87!

Today was my wife's shopping day and one of the stores she goes to is a large Walmart in our area. I decided to try an experiment. My wife is definitely not a Lego expert, most certainly doesn't know a thing about identifying CMFs, and has no clue about the coveted Police Officer. I asked her if she would 1) go by the Lego aisle to see if they had any Series 18 CMFs. If they did, 2) see if there were any "skinny packets" and 3) see if she could feel the small 1x2 brick in the skinny packets. I showed her a 1x2 tile and 1x2 plate so she would know what she was trying to find. I told her this wasn't a priority and she didn't need to do it if she felt weird or didn't have time...that I was just curious how difficult it would be for a novice to find certain CMF (if one was even there). She came home, we unloaded the car, and she tossed a CMF on the table. She said it was the only one she found may have met the criteria. When I checked the CMF, low and behold it was the Police Officer. She said there appeared to be only about 30-40 sets available, but that most were thicker so she didn't even check those.

They're certainly out there as this Walmart in particular has very high traffic. Also, this experiment proved to me that even a novice should be able to identify them with limited effort (if one is there).

Went in to Water stones in Newton Abbot. A new box on the counter but the cop had been removed and was by the checkout mans hands.. Draft. Over to Asda and the box only had around 10 cmfs left in it. But wait a new box behind and the cop! For £2.87. Yay!

My local Sainsburys has now put their CMFs in security boxes like Asda near us has. There were only two boxes on the shelf, took them to the till to get opened which they did with no hassle. Neither of them we needed so I asked if there was the rest of the box out the back. Staff brought out a near full box that looked undisturbed. Second pack we squeezed was the policeman! I can't help thinking that these shops are losing sales on CMFs by only have a couple out on the shelf each time.

The Tesco near my work was happy to sell me 8 unopened boxes of their stock of series 18 - they said they don't sell any as impulse buys as they are in the plastic security cases in a dead area at the back end of the store.  Left them 59 bags in the last box that they opened as they brought it out! ;P

I really need to spend more time feeling the packets. Now on my second unicorn and third cat... on the bright side I got the dragon, cactus, brick boy and elephant. So just 4 left to find!
  • omniumomnium Member Posts: 831
@caterham7, *8* boxes? Good lord! That's a big investment! I've often wondered where people get their sealed boxes from. Never considered Tesco!

I'd considered buying a full box just to get PC Scalper, but I think I'm going to leave it.

Are you planning on selling most of them right away or keeping as a long term investment?

Found Birthday Party Boy today - I love those little S1 CMF packets! I'd buy 10s of those if they were available separately...

That completes my 16... just that darn policeman left to find and I'll have got my first ever complete set of CMFs!

I've got a long way to go to complete my set. Still looking to complete Series 6, 7 and 8, with 2 figures to replace, due to sun damage, and one having the wrong head.

When I do complete S18, it will be my second set of 17. Alas, my #17 for S10, is a clown with spot-less hat, and not HIM.

I can assure you it wasn't me. Already got mine and I'm not interested in building an army of them.

Tend to buy lots of Lego and hoard it away since 2009!  My two boys and two nephews get given birthday and Christmas presents from the vast range.  When they're older, I'll either build or sell the remaining sets.  If I break up duplicate sets for parts, I'll sell on any minifigs that I'm not interested in.

Like to keep a sealed box of minifigs for myself tucked away, another box to open between me and the boys and then some others for presents or army building.  Collected the police sets from the late 70s to late 80s as a child, so plan to keep all the series 18 police ones for myself!

Was thinking of offering a few sets without policeman at cost on here, but major works to the complete downstairs of house is getting in the way of normal life at the moment and have to have everything cleared out today so the builders can take over tomorrow!

I have just picked up a full box from my toy store. I have yet to see how many full sets I have (exc Policeman), so if anyone is looking for a set of 16 (exc Policeman) let me know. Id rather sell as a set than individual. I will post in For Sale, any individuals left over.

I was slightly hoping a mistake was made and I got 2 policemen, but alas, no luck.

Thanks for the tips. I had a quick look through one of the tubs there but didn't come across him in the short time I had. When I mentioned him the lady helping us made out he was really hard to find for some reason.

Went to a Target today and saw a bunch of minifigs hanging at the check out aisle. Thankfully they had more and I got a fresh case pulled from the back. Got some duplicates along with the box(whoop whoop) and I don't usually care for it but this one was nice and orange and had the extra forty years bit on the front. Spent about five minutes putting the rest of the case on the pegs.
