Porsche 911 gt3 technic Lego - engine/drive problems

Just in the middle of building our Porsche and are having problems with the drive train/gearing. When you turn the shaft towards the rear of the car it turns all the gearing and the front wheels for on revolution and then jams up and is reluctant to turn even with a bit of force. You can then turn it the opposite way a full revolution before the same thing happens. Really struggling to identify the issue, any suggestions?? And advise would be greatly appreciated!

I've not built the Porsche (yet), but I've had a couple of problems with Technic sets over the years, and it's often down to either a missing piece / something placed incorrectly, or a bit too much play in something.  I remember a problem with the steering mechanism on a Technic set, and it turned out that I'd left a connecting pin loose, and it had jammed between two other parts, meaning that the steering was severely restricted - once I'd fished it out, everything was fine.

So I'd suggest (and you're unlikely to relish it) working back through the relevant steps, with the pieces in situ if you can - taking them apart where you can't - and checking your work.  I've read several reviews of this set, and if there was a problem with the instructions it would have come to light by now, so I think it will be a rogue piece / incorrectly fitted part I'm afraid.

Just look on it as being able to build a cool set all over again!

    Good luck!

I recall a friend telling me that there is an error in the instructions with regards to the gears. A quick Google search should help.

There is an error in the instructions, but that doesn't jam everything up. It's likely one of the gears is too tight, or mounted wrongly.

Thanks for your feedback, very much appreciated.

When we take the engine off the back everything turns freely on both the main body of the car and on the engine.

When we connect the engine back on it does one revolution and jams up again.

Do do we really have to start again? Don't know if I can bring myself to do it!

So the Porsche is finally finished, after taking it apart in sections and finding one piece the wrong size, piecing it all back together again it still didn't work! Gurr, turns out it was the gearing at the sides.  The rods need to be placed 90 degree off from each other, all works perfect now! :-)

Just one last question, does the motor (set 8293) work with this set? Can you get a remote for it too?  Thank you
