What if it's not Cloud City.  Or Corellian Corvette?  And instead we get Cloud Car UCS?  Or a UCS bust of Chief Chirpa?  Maybe even a new SOLO related UCS bust of Lando's little brother Craig Calrissian?

That doesn't really narrow down the subject matter though. We already know it's Star Wars. :P

well, afols have been clamouring so much for a cloud city set that it could well be the cash cow. at 500€ they are now pretty sure people will fight to buy it.

Add in a coloured VIP card and they can add another 50 GBP/USD/EUR and sell out on day 1.

That’s a pretty good point. I’m guessing either it will be a while before there’s another set as expensive as the MilF, or if they come out with another comparable set, then those buyers would be admitted to the Black Card Club.

OR purchase of these expensive SW sets could be a requirement to keep Black Card status :-0

I believe the black card is really only valid (for extra offers) for 2018... So if that's the case, I would expect them to potentially try this again either late in 2018 or 2019...?

"Card holders will still receive all standard VIP benefits, in addition, they'll be eligible for a full year of special Star Wars-themed offers throughout 2018."

I am sure s@H will be smart enough to stop benefits if there are some in 2019 for purchases made in 2018.

Pretty sure if a Cloud City UCS set is a thing that it would be a 'playset replacement' for Insult on Hoth. To be fair one of the biggest problems with the latter was that most of the components already existed in other previous sets. The only Cloud City-specific sets we've ever had before are the original Cloud City, a couple of Twin Pod Cloud Cars and the Carbon Freezing Chamber, so I would be fine with having the same format in a new UCS set. Although having bought a £525 UCS Falcon (thanks to VIP points) I'd rather not have a massive £400 Cloud City. Ewok Village size is fine for me.

Maybe we'll all be surprised with a RotJ-related set to replace the Ewok Village.

I get the sense that Hoth will still be around after whatever this new set is gets released.

(How much would we all love a UCS scale Cantina?)

This to me is actually one of the biggest arguments AGAINST the release being a Cloud City UCS.  Because of the size, it would almost certainly have to be an AoH/DS vignette style build intended to be a playset, like you said.  But AoH almost certainly retired earlier than LEGO was expecting to retire it.  It's the first UCS set since the B-Wing to not last a full two years.  And the development and pipeline planning for these large sets is quite long, meaning that it's very possible and even likely that preliminary plans for this set were in place when AoH was first released... and since AoH likely retired earlier than planned, I think it would be UNLIKELY that they would be planning on a 'playset replacement' before NEXT year, which would be just about in line with the average retirement age of the last few UCS sets to retired other than AoH (about ~2.77 years, going back to R2-D2).

The theory is based off of the assumption that the retirement of AoH occurred earlier than planned, but I don't think that assumption is THAT far fetched looking at the recent history of other UCS sets, including other playsets like Ewok Village.

AoH must've taken 5 minutss to cobble together.

I'm a big believer in the box silhouette theory - first MF (and it happened), then ISD - i'm convinced we'll see an ISD this year.

The silhouettes leave no room for doubt. This shouldn’t even be a question.

Maybe we'll be surprised with an Endor playset.

Regurgitated confabulation of #8038 Battle of Endor; #9489 Endor Battle Pack; #7139 Ewok Attack and the uninspired parts of #10236 Ewok Village.

    Yay!  (Not really.)

This morning I read (on rebelscum.com) that there is a rumor discussed on Eurobricks that the next UCS set will definitely be a new Y-WING, numbered 75181, announced soon to be in time for May the 4th....I am curious what folks think about that versus the "CC" we have been discussing here (which I really want more than a new Y-Wing) ??
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 4,269
The Y-Wing is my favorite SW ship, but I didn't get the first UCS one, so I'd love this to be true... but I'd really like a Cloud City too. So I guess I'll be happy either way!

It still fits fine, as the $200 UCS is expected to be the May the 4th UCS release, and the $500 CC release is expected to be the August/Fall UCS release.

However, before people get their hopes up, I know that rumors of the May the 4th release being a new Y-wing have been going around, and unless new information has come out in the last week or so that I haven't seen yet, those rumors have been pretty baseless speculation of the 'I really want a new Y-Wing UCS' variety.  This isn't to say that it WON'T be a Y-wing, as I don't know of any other information that would point to it being anything else right now, just that, as far as I know, we just don't really know anything about it at all.  (Again, this could be out of date if new information has surfaced somewhere over the last couple of days. :) )

I'd be up for a UCS Y-Wing and (what I expect to be the Autumn release) UCS ISD. Just got to find a place to put them (ISD might be a challenge to find a place for).

Probably true.  After Assault on Hoth,  the design team is probably eager as F to take another crack at this type of set. They read the comments...

I support the idea of creating modular sections of Cloud City.

this way collectors can purchase sections at a time instead of one big purchase.

So with 6weeks to go until the May 4th promotions are we expecting a new UCS?

if it is like the deathstar 2, a doll house then no. If its like the deathstar 1,an awesome model then yes.

My money would be on it being a doll house but I am not convinced yet that it will be cloud city.

This thread is all over the place. What was even the logic behind the first post? What made that source trustworthy enough to even start a topic on it? And now it could be any one of five different options. "Hey guys, someone on FBTB.net said a UCS TIE Bomber is in the works! Finally something new!" Should I go on and post a topic for that? Are we banking on Lego being so predictable that eventually, anything we throw out will get produced in about 2 years' time, just so we can later say, "CALLED IT!"?

The logic is that I thought it was an interesting rumour. No, he isn't any more reliable than anyone else who posts rumours about what it could be. However, I enjoy speculating about what might or might not be next. Even if it does not come true. And while I haven't been super active I have enjoyed reading the responses. Besides, if people only ever talked about about confirmed sets this would be a really dull place as it would just be threads of people saying they really like something or hate something, or have items to sell. If you want a forum like that I would suggest heading over to Eurobricks where no one is allowed to have any fun.

I don't mind if it's a remake - if it is then I either save money as I already have one, or I buy it because I missed it first time round or the newer one is much better looking. A Y Wing would do nicely, as would a B Wing or Imperial Shuttle. An A Wing would be even better though!

I agree with B & C but without the anger management issues, D is a bit subjective, I don't have the imagination for E and try not to care about :-P

They'll never make another UCS model of non-OT stuff will they? I'm discounting the MF as it's a dual purpose build.

Next UCS set? My money's on UCS black crate for nearly-UCS BB8 to hide under - as seen on Ep8 infiltration of Snoke's ship.

Whatever it ends up being I will either
    A) Be angry it is a remake of a UCS they already made 10+ years ago

They could always remake the B-wing. That isn't 10+ years old.
