Well, so far you're just in Ford territory right? Just avoid the other car marques and you'll be fine. So far there are only 5 Ford sets, so you are nearly halfway complete already don't need the others. Also, I'm sure they won't release any more. You wouldn't like those gorgeous Porsches and Ferraris anyway... but you ought to keep looking at them to remind yourself that you don't want to buy them.

Have fun on that ski slope! :-)

    Yeah, cheers guys!

I did look at the Raptor/Hot Rod combo but couldn’t get on with the looks of the pickup. And not keen on the Fiesta either so safe for now...  I do like the look of the green 911 though.

I wouldn't say doomed.  It's a classic Mustang.  They fall under a different kind of classification.

But what would be less than doomed?

I just got #75883 today to round out wave 3. Lego is my drug... But Speed Champions is the good good stuff.

I really want that set as I'm a Lewis Hamilton fan, but I just can't pull the trigger on the $100 price point. If it was $75 I probably wouldn't hesitate to get it, calculating each build at about $10 x 5 being $50 plus the cars at $15 each x 2 being $30 and then add $5 for the accessories (fueling rig/computer, hot dog stand, tv camera).

#75889 has the same problem. I really want that set, but I have a hard time seeing how the extra builds are worth $55 more than just getting each car individually at $15 a piece.

I'm also having trouble deciding if I want #75879 as I love Formula-1 but have never been a Ferrari fan (especially now that they've geared up their quit threats again). I do like Raikkonen due to his interest in other forms of racing, but the mini-figure included seems modeled after Vettel whom I haven't been a real fan of recently either.

    I will be building #75878 , #75880 , #75886 , and #75887 this weekend during the 12 Hours of Sebring though.

Oh yeah, the original price is bad - so I got one on eBay that was $82 with free shipping when eBay was running a 20% coupon. All in all, just under $66. That price I can deal with.
At least the Ferrari Ultimate Garage has 3 cars and not just 2. That'll make the price tag slightly more tolerable... Though I will still watch for a sale.

I ended up buying #75879 after all. My Toys R Us was starting to get cleaned out without the liquidation sale even starting.

I'm watching the 12 Hours of Sebring (sadly the #6 Penske Acura DPi has encountered issues, I'm a Juan Pablo Montoya fan) and they featured #75886 during the broadcast. They also built a larger version of it that was being displayed  and spoke with Alessandro Balzan whom is one of the drivers of that car. I thought it was cool for the broadcast to feature this and it gives me hope we may see some of the DPi's in this theme in the future.

I'm building #75878 now and love the rubber band as the rear light.

^ It's surprising how studless it looks. And all those angles look great at the front there. Can't wait to get it myself, but it will have to wait. Some unexpected bills have cropped up... :(

I really wish we’d get two waves per year, but, I wasn’t getting my hopes high anyway.

I do find it rather interesting that the $50-$70 set we’ve seen in previous waves was omitted for this wave.

doesn't the 911 twin set fall into that category?

It’s the $30 set. The first wave had the $50 Porsche Finish line set. The second had the $50 Ford set, and the $70 Porsche set. The third wave had the $50 FXX set. However, this wave jumps from the $30 set to the $100 set.

I prefer the cheaper ones, I really want the Ferrari from the new set but I don't need $50 of garage and trackside fluff.

If you’re talking about the FXX K, you could always buy the parts off of BL and bulid it that way.

I was thinking of the new set with three cars. The main issue is needing the sticker sheet and those aren't often cheap on BL.

The other problem you’ll have is that the new red fenders used on the 250 GTO are not up on BL right now. However, I’d built that one at least, since it uses the least amount of stickers.

It would be cool if they gave us a Mercedes set like the Ferrari Ultimate Garage set. They could have the 300SL, W196 and the new Project One. I’d prefer a 300SL as one the $15 sets, though.

Actually, it would also be cool if they gave us a second wave. I swear, it seems like the only theme that doesn’t get a second wave in the year. That’s my only complaint of the theme. Even if it’s just like two more sets, I’d still love a second wave.

^At least it survived past the typical 3 year max cycle. Cars will always have an audience so hopefully they will make it an evergreen theme like they did with Ninjago.

maybe it's time for Lego to do a Twin Towers architecture set and donate the profits to charity.

You might get your wish. There’s a FIAT logo on one of the stickers for the 312 T4, which may indicate licensing from FCA.

I’d be super happy with a Charger and a Viper ACR.

The reception has been positive overall, with automotive sites reporting on it as well. They may not be perfect, but minifigure scale replicas of real cars was a brilliant idea. Still, the theme has endless possibilities, so a second wave would be great.

Sorry to dig an old thread up, but I noticed that some Speed Champions sets have appeared on Amazon with a release date of June 1st, 2018 and as being sold by Amazon.

I know there was some discussion in this thread about where the theme would end up getting sold from due to the TRU liquidation, and it looks like Amazon is at least part of the answer.

I am still hoping that Lego decide to make Speed Champions general release, available to all retailors.  I'm happy there will be some on Amazon, so I'll take what I can get.

Your wish is apparently Lego's command.

Just out of curiosity, I went to Target's website this morning and did a quick search for 'Speed Champions' and found the sets there too. I would guess that Walmart is probably next on the list to add them if they're available from Amazon and Target.

I’m still hoping that at some point, the theme gets a second wave in the year like just about every other theme.

For now, I’m just hoping we see another Ultimate Garage type set for the 2019 Wave, because the Ferrari Ultimate Garage was well executed for what it is. I’d image doing one for McLaren or Mercedes-Benz wouldn’t be that far fetched. Also hoping to see at least one classic car in the small set range as well, like the Mustang from this year, and I’m really hoping to see the Mercedes-Benz Project One and/or Aston Martin Valkyrie.

(I’m also hoping for a recolor of the new fenders in black.)

I did not see a thread on this. https://www.brothers-brick.com/2018/11/28/lego-speed-champions-2019-sets-revealed-includes-mini-coopers-and-more-new/

2018 Speed Champions weren’t revealed until January 2018, yet 2019 Speed Champions were revealed at the end of this month, and they were revealed alongside all the other December/January stuff. If you want any(or all) of these, keep an eye out for them. I suspect they’re coming soon.

Two other things to note with this wave:

    1. There may only be five sets, but this is a good sign for the theme’s future. The F40 is the first late 80s-early 90s supercar we’ve seen in the theme, and this was alongside the introduction of Mini, Dodge, and NASCAR to the theme. Mini is also owned by BMW, so perhaps a BMW set or two is in the theme’s future. I don’t think LEGO would be seeking new things for a theme they plan to discontinue.

    2. The fact that Speed Champions are being released alongside all the usual 2019 first wave stuff makes me wonder if a second wave is going to happen this year. All the main LEGO themes, like City, Creator, etc, usually see their first wave at the end of December/beginning of January, with the second wave coming in the sunmer. Speed Champions are likely being released with that first wave if the sets were revealed with them. There’s also a noticeable absence of the big $100 set.

As for the sets themselves, I will try to pick all of them up.

There is a more generic Speed Champions thread that I'll link to in case the mods think this thread should get merged into there: https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/25592/speed-champions

I'm happy with the addition of NASCAR, although I don't necessarily like the hood on the set.

The F40 is a must get to have aside of #10248

I'm still holding out hope for an IndyCar, but with Formula-1 already present in the line I'm not sure that's an option.

I for one can't wait for the Dodge set. I would of preferred a 69 Charger without a blower. But thanks to LEGO it may be the only way for me to get some of my dream cars.

I'm glad to see the Dodge set, but I could have done without the blower and I'm not sure they do justice for the modern day Challenger.

Although the problem could be the choice of yellow, which I always tend to associate with a Corvette instead. I think red or purple would have been a much better choice.

^Plum Crazy Purple or B5 Blue would of been awesome for the Challenger, but it would probably take to many recolors of parts. For the scale and it being LEGO I'm happy to get them.

No image and it’s unavailable, but if they are on Wal-Mart’s website, keep an eye out for them at your local stores. These can’t be a March release.
