Funny, I browsed their eBay store and they are listing the series 18 figures individually for $9.99 each! The lone exception is the Classic Cop which they have at $49.99. Do people really pay that much for something they could get for less than half the price in a store?
Probably not, but even if one person is foolish and purchases, it is totally worth their time to putting up the free listing. Hate this about eBay.
Aside from that, I really do wish that we will get a regular CMF series in the future. That being said, this one’s a pretty good release. It’s just that.......LEGO, we all love you, but did you forget about the Mr. Gold fiasco? It happened right around the end of my dark ages, but I did read up on it eventually.
Bottom line, the figure, like anything else on eBay, is worth what someone is willing to pay. Would I pay 49.99? No. I have a hard time paying more than 5 dollars for a figure, let alone 3.99 for a CMF figure, but if someone wants to pay it no one is holding a gun to their head, nor is this eBay's fault, or the sellers for that matter.
That said, I despise this figure being one per box. To me, it stops you from getting a set of Series 18. Mr Gold is annoying, but he was only a chase figure, he was not on the checklist for his series and therefore, at least to me, he is not part of that set. If this figure appears on the checklist, and it sounds like he does, then this sucks for anyone wanting a truly complete set. It also means you get one complete set per box. poor move by LEGO and I hope this is not a re-occurring thing in future CMF sets as to me it is as bad as a price increase on each pack.
Now, they've remembered having a very rare figure pissed (some) people off, so they've done something similar but made him much less rare. In fact, 1 per box is not rare at all, it is just uncommon. It is also a figure that many people will not care about. Remember, while there are collectors, the biggest market for these is kids. They'll probably want the fancy colourful figures rather than the boring old fashioned policeman. One per box will mean kids won't get pissed off getting loads of a boring figure, and if fact if their parents realise it could probably be sold on to pay for a few extra figures. While he is less common, I cannot see him going for much more than $15-20, at least not while they are available in stores.
You only need to see how may people are saying they are just going to buy the box. Lego knows that. Their plan works.
Just remember, if you're part of the conspiracy and you admit, then the conspiracy was true, and if you deny that you're part of the conspiracy... well, that's exactly what someone who was part of the conspiracy would say, so obviously you are part of the conspiracy, and the conspiracy was true.
-Dramatic Pause-
Mind blown!
It should actually be fairly easy to find the Classic Police Officer as most of the packets bulge a great deal as they contain large pieces. The Police Officer really stands out in that regard.
It's a shame they had to do five of each of the brick suits, but I guess it is their thing.
If you are interested in pre-ordering this minifigure, please send us your PayPal email address in a direct message with the quantity requested (max 2 per person).
Here's a good question: in the past, are all boxes of CMF identical in their internal make-up? If there are 3, 4, and 5 of some figures in a box that we've seen, does it mean it will be that way for ALL boxes, that you may run into anywhere?
