Decided to spend my Sunday building one of my favourite sets! About time I had this little guy on display again.
Enjoyed it, but the whites are really not all equal. But I guess I just have to not be too OCD about things about that.

#30398 - was looking for something to do for a few minutes and grabbed a polybag. even that is more than I've done with my backlog in months.
This set's aesthetic fits nicely with the bigger Adventure Camp sets, particularly 41121 Rafting and the water aspect of 41122 Tree House.
The frog on a rock is a nice change of pace from those on lilypads. Either way, it's appropriate for the water setting; Friends sets often have animals that don't fit the set's topic, like the hedgehog in 41120 Adventure Camp Archery. I also liked the new backpack piece.
It would be easy to combine multiple copies if you got them cheap, which I didn't. I missed it as a promo, and later saw some at the LEGO Store for $5. Usually polybags start out around $4 and can be found discounted. I was still glad to get a few towards the then-current promo and to complete my collection of the theme.
#40235 Year of the Dog
I got this not as a Chinese New Year set, but as a dog set. It's similar to the brick built canines in #40201 Valentine's Cupid Dog and #31044 Park Animals.
I like the circular stand and the symmetry thereof; that's the main thing that helps this stand out from the others.
Like those, this has movable joints, which really adds to the playability, realism, and cuteness factor. The head being able to rotate all the way (The Exorcist puppy!) is funny. The conical piece with a round tile on top was a new way to do the snout, and this has 2x2 eyes next to each other rather than spaced 1x1's.
During the build, the dog doesn't start to take shape until the tail step and not really until you assemble the head.
This has a box with a flip open top. Usually those are larger, but this is still nice for storing the instructions and gift envelope.
It's hard to judge the value of a promo set, but I did get a good deal on the stuff I bought to get it. I am glad I kept rather than traded this one.
Picked the WRC Fiesta up from Milton Keynes. Nice to see something other than supercars being released. Hopefully it'll pave the way for more rally cars. Stickers, stickers and more stickers though, but it looks awesome. Shame all the snow has melted before I got the chance to photograph it!
Built another of my birthday presents. Its just brilliant, nice and chunky like a tractor should be.
What makes me the most jealous about this is that the last set of classic style Castle stuff was super awesome, with great Dragons and awesome buildings... and it was before I got back into collecting. And it's so popular that the prices are high enough that I can't justify buying the sets! That was definitely a great find, even having to replace a brick or figure piece here or there!
Also protective cases are a double edge sword. Great for keeping the set dust free, but the reflection makes taking photographs quite tricky. :)
And with his big brother:
It's a shame it can't move the wheels around like the big model though:
Still, it's a nicely built model. All photos have been compressed to save on bandwidth.
Might end up being cheaper to get some key chains and wipe the tile than buy the part. Especially as it's double points at the moment.
Edit. I think I would leave the Lego logo in place! Of to the market place!
It's a neat little car, and despite not being very faithful to the movie, or to the minifig version, it's instantly recognisable IMO. Here it is next to the bigger version:
Also, I can finally say that I've built one of my Secret Santa presents from 2016! Took a while but I've managed. Spoiler alert: another one will be making an appearance at some point soon!
^ Also, I'm trying a new image resizer app for android and it's really intuitive and quick - it can't crop, so you have to do that when you take the photo. But it squashes them a lot. If people think there's too much pixilation let me know. And if you'd like to try it out, it's this one:

That's a pretty good idea. I tend to upload my camera photos to dropbox, then resize them in mspaint on the computer, which is... just a pain. Not hard, and honestly not really time consuming, but I would be lying if I said it hasn't kept me from posting pictures in the past. Having it all right there on the phone would be great if it can still turn out decent pictures after resizing.

Also, I should probably stop slacking and get to work on that Magnus Walker 911 i wanna build. The remaining parts came today.
