[email protected] orders to Australia are shipped from a warehouse somewhere in Europe. Usual delivery time is about 2 weeks. Was informed my order left on Jan 5. Turned up today. Happy days! Now to figure out what excuse I can use to bail on a social catchup with some mates tonight...

Today’s status is a somber one. This poor minifigure who is the proud owner of a Lykan Hypersport is coming to terms with the fact he no longer has the most expensive road car in Imaginary Lego City.

Oldschool programmers like Margaret Hamilton must've been wizards to get men to the moon with computers less powerful than the ones in our phones.

    Absolutely!

I'm a low level software engineer. I know a few old school programmers. They really were trailblazers. Whilst most of the code they wrote is "trivial" compared to the complex systems we deal with these days, they didn't have the knowledge and resources available to them that we do now. Most modern software engineering problems can be solved with a Google search and Stack Exchange ;)

The biggest problem a modern software engineer would have these days is working out how to fit a complex algorithm into a few bytes of memory. Oh, and how to write it without bugs. We don't write solid, reliable code any more...
Disks are large and file sizes are bloated - a chicken and egg problem? I still try making files smaller or not making them as big in the first place.
My photo editing style is aggressive about cropping out background; that's related to a smaller image file

Looked at some 2018 sets while in Target. I may have liked some of the Friends sets if it wasn't for the garish color scheme. That's especially a problem with the Mia camping theme since that needs a natural look. 2016's Adventure Camp was better. I do like the 'hinge plate and fence' ladder build in #41333
#10862 My First Celebration goes with #10850 My First Cakes from last year
I might eventually get #41188 and maybe some of the smaller Elves sets for my castle collection like I did with #41180.
I still like the idea and price point of building bigger thinking. #10404 also fits with classic castle. Nexo still doesn't
#10714 is just a blue 32x32 baseplate, a simple but good idea.

Status: happy that I've built all but two of the new Lego Star Wars sets. Just missing the Cantina (can't wait to build/explore the "bubble ship" parked outside) and the two-pack Microfighter ox with the A-Wing and Kylo's TIE. Then I can go back to retro-collecting no-longer-produced Star Wars sets. :)

my lego collection is always tidy. actually lego forces me to keep my room tidy so that I can find space for new sets and display them correctly.

I have the same issue. Lego everywhere and always being forced to defrag my shelf-space...lol.

Not my design, instructions bought from below link. :-)

    https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-11989/InyongBricks/10214-tower-bridge-alternative-build/#bi

One set doesn't do it justice, thinking of getting another Tower Bridge to make a mirror of it, will be more grand with 2 sets side-by-side.

Thats a tight fit @snowhitie ! We took the two boxes of train stuff over to my parents this morning, so Lily could build a huge layout in their lounge. Was all looking good until my dad didn't hear the small controllers cry of STOP THE TRAIN! Winter and cargo head on collision.

Also finished off the Creator Beetle as well, nice fun build and despite it looking like a Renault 4CV in all the adverts, it actually looks nice and Beetle like in the finished bricks. We built ours with a German number plate and its now parked on the top shelf with the Splitscreen camper.

Partway through Merlok's Library 2.0... rather a nice build. Wish the Fortrex was still assembled to connect it too, but I had to break down my Nexo Knights stuff to do some urgent storage last year. Glad I kept it all together, though - I still really want to build a huge mech in the signature wave 1 colours...

Built an F1 car from the #10242 Creator Mini Cooper (instructions from NKubate on Rebrickable) while watching the last parts of Games Done Quick ... Looks cool, nice details, definitely wouldn't pass Lego standards but it's really nice. And I have quite a bit of parts left over for other builds, which is always welcome.

Built #41307 Olivia's creative lab and #3315 Olivia's House with my daughter (almost done) ... Clearly an older-school Friends set compared to, say, #41095 Emma's House, still a fun build. Also no bedroom for the parents. :P Now as I'd upgraded Emma's House to Emma's Mansion, she clearly assumes I will be doing the same for Olivia.... :O

Lamborghini Miura has now joined my vroom collection. Credit for this build goes to: https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/sets/72157685626654256

He posted a couple of breakdown shots of the build, which helped immensely. I did do a few things differently, though.

That's pretty good considering how unfriendly the Miura's curves are to small scale LEGO builds.

He uses hinges frequently in his builds. It definitely helped here.

Playing around with the parts from #10403 - not seen the 3 x 1 double slope piece before.
There's definitely one in one of the '89 Forestmen sets - so it's been around for a while, if not commonly used! (At least I think that's where I've seen it before!)

6358 Snorkel Squad https://brickset.com/sets/6358-1/Snorkel-Squad from 1987 used them and the ideas book from the same year had an airport crash truck design that used them.

I got a letter from the estate agents for a refund on my water/heating. Total is 950 CHF (Swiss francs). My immediate thought was that this is the exact price of the millennum falcon so effectively that would be free Yeah? (Thays how my brain works - the money was already gone!). When I said this out loud to the wife she wasn't pleased! Apparently, all I think about is Lego! She said it could go towards a holiday or pay car bill, blah blah blah blah blah!
Just tell her you can't get that hot new MilF out of your head.  I'm sure she'll understand!
