Or if Cloud City turns out to be another Insult on Hoth type set.
I still think it will be a winner. Part of the problem with Hoth was that most of the components had already been released in some form or another within the previous few years. WIth cloud city we haven’t seen anything anything other than the freezing chamber and a lobot figure in fifteen years.

^ So- a CC UCS set based around the Freezing Chamber & a bit of Slave 1 it is then :-D
  • SumoLegoSumoLego Member Posts: 15,229
I'd be happy with a scale landing pad for either the MF or Slave 1.

My guesstimation would be the duel hallway would be included - as it appeared in TFA.

Not being a real fan of playsets, I would expect a somewhat jumbled mess of vignettes.

Cloud City doesn't have a 'central' enough location to not be a jumbled mess. Freezing Chamber, Vader Fight, Dining Room, Jail Cell, Landing Pad Etc. but none of these are really connected. They're all connected by waves of hallways - far too much for any one lego set. This is going to be a vignette hell for sure
  • LobotLobot Member Posts: 1,029

I've been waiting for a new Cloud City ever since I left my dark ages (around 2008) so anything that's even the slightest upgrade on #10123 will do very nicely.

...Infact, at this point I'd happily settle for a 100% re-boot of the original version!

That’s what the Death Star is and it still works rather well. Hopefully the overall set has the “form” of Cloud City. I think it would work with just four rooms — apartment (or junk room), dining room, carbon freeze, and duel / gantry.  That’s my hope.
  • FizyxFizyx Member Posts: 1,358
To be honest, I'm still not entirely convinced it will actually BE Cloud City.  All of this is based off of the CC following the UCS listing, and everyone knows LEGO is pretty cagey when it comes to releasing details like that early.  It's easy to assume that means something like Cloud City, but it could also just be an internal code for something else.  And as much as I do want some more Cloud City sets... I just don't know how they would do a good UCS Cloud City, and I feel like they're probably a little wary of doing disconnected vignettes again so soon after Assault on Hoth.

Oooo... can we start speculating on what 'CC' could mean in a SW LEGO context?

    Calrissian Codpiece?
Chiss Cruiser?  (Thrawn, please come back!)

They did one a few years back, right?  I wouldn’t mind another one. Given the role of the Corvette in the Rebels / Rogue One era there is expanded interest. Though I would prefer a system-scale one (I stupidly passed on the last one).

My favorite one that I've seen prior to this thread is that it stands for Code Cylinder, which imperial officers must display at all times.  So CC implies Imperial Officers, and who are imperial officers?  Starship captains and admirals, of course.  And what do starship captains and admirals fly around in?  That's right... STAR DESTROYERS.

But now that I've seen Correllian Corvette, I like that a LOT more.  Will sell portion of soul for new and updated Tantive IV.

How about... Creature Cantina? IIRC, that's what the Kenner toy was called. True, we just got a Mos Eisley Cantina, but in 2016, we got #75138 Hoth Attack, then #75098 Assault on Hoth. I think a $200-250 Cantina with around 15 minifigures would be Awesome!

So how about this set!?!  #75204  Sandspeeder
I thought it would be a set from the latest SW instalment ep.8
I saw The Last Jedi last night (and BTW I really enjoyed it!), but I did not see this modified T-47 speeder in it either (just like #75177). This set isn't released in Europe yet (1/1/2018). It is in North America, so on brickset it is now labelled as a SW 2017 set. Anyway I have no idea if this set is even from the new film or perhaps that console game 'Battlefront I/II'?!
Given that it also includes a moisture vaporator I really am at a loss as to which scene on what planet from that galaxy far far away this set is supposed to be a rendition of? Tatooine or Jakku perhaps? Galen Erso had vaporators on his farm on Lah'mu too, indicating that vaporators are devices in the SW universe that are used not only in arid climates. Or is it from that +/- 40 minutes of footage Rian Johnson had to cut out in the editing room for ep.8?!
I was looking today to see if there was any discussion about the origin of this set.  Talking to the Lego store rep today he pointed out the box art was clearly Jakku as you can see the entrance to the market where Ray first sees/takes ownership of the Falcon.  There is also the crashed Star Destroyer in the background.  But more interestingly the Lego rep insists the white helmet in the set is Lego's depiction of the helmet Ray tries on in her downed AT-AT home.  I am sceptical but does anyone else think this is possible?

And is the red helmet in set #75204 the on that belongs to Red Four which I think was lost over Yavin?  Sorry I am getting a bit too excited by this set.

@LawrenceES - I also heard (probably from someone on this thread) that the female pilot in the sandspeeder set has the last name Raeh. Seeing as the set is obviously from around the time of the battle of Jakku, the female pilot could well be Rey's mother. Is this something that ended up on the cutting room floor of episode 7/8? Is this something that could be revealed in Episode 9? Was it an idea that was abandoned in favour of another (yet to be revealled) idea for Rey's lineage? Or are these simply little Easter eggs just created by Lego themselves? Whatever the answer, the two helmets do make this little over-priced set a lot more desirable.

This set is based on a cancelled toy by Kenner from their The Epic Continues line which was a line of toys to be based in the time after RotJ. Their own expanded universe before there was much of an expanded universe.

Does anyone have a comparison between the female pilot in the Sandspeeder set and Rey (specifically their faces)? Having the helmet from TFA is great and all, but unfortunately it wouldn't look accurate on Rey without the visor (which is printed on the face, not a part of the headgear). Still, the pictures above make it look like the female head piece from the Sandspeeder set might be close enough to substitute for Rey's head if she were to wear the helmet.
  • 560Heliport560Heliport Member Posts: 3,872
I'd say, close enough. The sandspeeder pilot's visor masks where Rey's freckles would be, so if you put that helmet on that head on a body wearing Rey's clothes... it's Rey. Especially if it's sitting in front of the foot of an AT-AT!

I was using a spare from what I think was an old Millennium Falcon set.  It's am sure this head is actually Luke while learning the ways of the force.  I thought it was good enough but probably the wrong colour.  I will put it in my UCS MF which will be a better home for this head given the unimpressive selection of minifigs that came with the MF in the first place.

I thought the neck/chin straps and the mic made the female pilot head look odd when used as Ray

Just wait for the new L'Oréal products that will inevitably tie-in with the film..... if not, they're wasting a massive sales opportunity.

& here I was thinking that the teasers looked good... Wow! This might be the first Disney SW film I can actually enjoy watching (haven't attempted RO yet after the bad taste TFA & TLJ left in my mouth trying to watch them). Seems like the writers read all the young Han Solo books & tried to faithfully condense it all down into a screenplay, if the final product is as good as the trailers make it look, Disney may finally have a SW film I might spend some money on.

^Rogue One was awesome, 2nd or 3rd favorite SW film, after Empire, very close to A new Hope. I'm really looking forward to Solo too.

Yes Rogue One was fantastic, definitely worth watching and I expect Solo to be just as good but in a different context. The new full length trailer provides a much better view of the "Double Monorail" (not an official name) and the 'Range Troopers' from the film and a lot more action than the initial teaser. The quotes they selected are on point too!

Still has a terrible actor playing Han, so I have a very bad feeling about this. Only bright spot is Donald Glover as Lando. Hopefully the movie doesn't tank too bad, and we get a Lando movie.

    @VorpalRyu
I don't like the sequel trilogy either, however, as the other Bricksetters here have just mentioned, Rogue One is definitely the polar opposite of TLJ & TFA. I really love that film! As they stated, indeed it is: fantastic, brilliant, and awesome!
    ---
If there is any hype surrounding this film, none of those vibes caught on with me. Still I am looking forward to seeing Solo in the theatre. The trailer looks good. Suppose the films sucks we will still have some nice looking Lego SW sets with some great looking minifigs in it thanks to this latest instalment. Anyway the cast looks good for the most part. The only exception being, and not all together unimportant, is the actor who plays Han Solo I am not sold on. This Alden Ehrenreich may yet exceed my expectations. Granted those aren't sky high, so if he manages to do a descent job, I might yet start liking him. He does have this Leonardo DiCaprio babyface, which does not work to his advantage given he has to live up to Harrison Ford (the original and 'real' Han Solo). If the movie has plenty of action, thrills, a good captivating story, and that OT SW feel it should all work out I hope. Last but not least I also hope they will have left out all those forced and failed attempts at geeky silly humor in Solo that where so cringeworthy in TLJ. Plus I have more faith in Ron Howard as a director than I do in J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson, who are both IMO primarily responsible for screwing up the sequel trilogy.

...This Alden Ehrenreich may yet exceed my expectations...
He looks so much like Karl Urban.  And nothing like Harrison Ford.  (It's all in the nose.)  But it really doesn't matter if they look alike - it matters that he embodies the character and is believable.

I don't think anyone would be praising Hayden Christensen because he's a young dead-ringer for Sebastian Shaw?  (Which he isn't.)
