My Saturn V order has only one tracking number.
Lately S@H packing hasn't been as bad, so I'm not worried.
I don't build right away anyway so I'm not in a rush.
I usually recycle boxes, so I'm not picky about condition for stuff I build. Yet for Saturn V, I may keep the big box as I did for Brick Bank. I trade most promos so I do care about the box condition on those.

The Joker's manor box is HUGE (well as big as the GBHQ set anyway) Despite the size all my promos were put on the side of the box and look no worse for wear, nor does the Manor box.

Got my order with Saturn V - that was in its own box, the promos look okay, lots of airbags.

Seems like it's slow holiday shipping.  I placed an order on Fri the 8th and one says backordered until the 18th and the other still says 'in process'.
  • MooreFXMooreFX Member Posts: 84
Our Dec. 8th order was the same.  Yesterday the promos arrived, and this morning I received an email that the back order sets had shipped.  Happy times.  :)

I put an order in when the snow globes first popped up. Got it and the nutcracker, but my holiday train keeps getting pushed back. Started at Dec 16 shipping date and is now all the way out to Jan 1.

Noticed the front page advertised a crazy good deal for Star Wars sets.  Wish they still had some of the good microfighters in stock.

^Buy pretty much any Star Wars LEGO set and get 100 VIP points added for each set in addition to the normal 1 VIP point per $1 spent.  Plus the London Bus promo and ebates is triple today at 7.5%

Bought 5 battle packs, and brickheadz figure to get me over the 75 dollar mark. got 582 points plus the London bus and I got an extra 7.5% back from ebates.

Unfortunately I think I am done with buying LEGO for the year after getting the Joker's Manor.

Can someone remind me again how much 100 VIP points is worth. Is it $5?
  • PapaBearPapaBear Member Posts: 665
    ^Yes, $5

Would be worth it on smaller sets though

Not really. Most of the smaller sets were available at 20-30% discounts through at least Amazon. In most cases, that translates to an upfront savings on the smallest sets that's equal to or greater than $5. Sole exception may be battle packs, but those alone don't qualify for free shipping.
  • datsunrobbiedatsunrobbie Member Posts: 1,828
VIP points are basically 5% off accumulated purchases. Target RedCard is 5% off purchase at time of sale, TRU credit card is good for 10% off on Thursdays. I prefer the Target and TRU methods because I'm less likely to buy stuff I did not really want just to get a promo. Most retailers have some sort of customer datamining  loyalty program, and they all shuffle the deals around during the year. Even the thrift store I go to every week has one, giving 20% off after $100 in purchases.

As my dad explained it to me, whatever I buy today is going to be for sale somewhere tomorrow for less, so I compare all the deals I can find and buy when I think the price is acceptable. That makes for some odd ACM entries, like my #31037 - paid $14.95 each for 2, $7.49 for 1, and $2.49 each for 4.

Don't forget. The likelihood Target (and sometimes TRU) has Lego sets on discount larger than that at Lego SH/Store is very high.

    It's 100 extra points per Star Wars set. So, buy six battle packs for $89.94 and get 689.94 points ($34.50 equivalent). ($89.94 - $34.50) / $89.94 = 0.6164 = 38.36% off.

That's pretty decent for Star Wars. Ignoring sales tax (if applicable) of course.

^ As of a couple minutes ago, it was working on the Star Wars Brickheadz.
  • scotty12scotty12 Member Posts: 850
^^So you only paid $55.44 total?? (plus tax).  Or are those reward dollars to spend next time?
  • carnage717carnage717 Member Posts: 166
It still works on the 2 star wars brickheadz. If you bought 5 of each at 7.99,  you would get 1079 points ($50) and you hit the $75 limit for the London bus as well,  plus free shipping. since they are already 20%off,  plus the $50 I  points,  your basically getting them for 70% off

@RTO - didn't realize it stacks. If that's the case, then yes...good deal on stuff like battle packs.

    Stopping at two orders.
    I hope I don't get flagged... lol

Has anybody seen the VIP points show up in their account yet?  I'm a little worried that the points on my order screen don't match what was in the email.  Nothing in my account yet.
  • prevereprevere Member Posts: 2,923
^I think points normally take a couple days to show up.
  • elspankdogelspankdog Member Posts: 403
Cool, I actually went and looked at the shipment email, and it has the correct VIP point total vs the order email which had some total that made zero sense.

I think once the shipment goes out (and usually payment is deducted) then it shows up...

Can confirm, points are added when payment is made (which is generally just prior to shipment, if shipment is delayed.)

Heh, now the Classic Batcave is on 'sale' for 215.99. If they could not sell them out for 199.99, Im not sure what possesses them to move it back up, other than to maybe try to show people that 199.99 is a good deal?

They may have been trying to take advantage of the holiday purchasing rush, especially since the 199.99 price point is going to move a LOT more sets than the 215.99 price point just because of the psychology of buying.  Also, they may have been trying to clear out space as well, but didn't need ALL the space that the Classic Batcave was taking up, removing some of the pressure to get it sold NOW.  I would bet a combination of those two things is likely behind the decision to increase the price against slightly.

This just sent me into an internet rathole.  Now that I've learned about "charm pricing" and "left digit effect", I'm dismayed at the general stupidity of the world.  $2.99 = $3, not $2.  My god.

Except the Classic Batcave has the retiring soon tag on it, which would make one think they want to get rid of all their stock, not just some of it.

The "Retiring Soon" tag definitely warrants the $16 increase. ;p

Yeah, but retiring soon doesn't mean retired NOW.  And if they think they can increase the price and still move the sets that they need to by their internal deadline, then it might still make sense to raise the price.

February 2018 store calendar is out (Lego.com). Looks like #40235 will be free with an $88 purchase for the second half of the month.

I think the Batcave increase is Lego saying act & buy it not cuz it isn't going lower if that is what you were waiting for

In case pod collectors are interested, 853759: Cole Pod & 853758: Jay Pod are both available from s@h now for $8.99 each.

Sorry if this is not news, but the BS listings have them at Legoland to start with.

    #40262 Christmas Train Ride

    #40263 Christmas Town Square

are both listed as "Call to check product availability".  So I called and ordered 2 of each to get free shipping. Both are $9.99 and were OOS for weeks.

that's what I mean, small sets are worth it for promos not limited by value. sometimes multiple promos or sale items combine to make going to the free shipping level worthwhile.

classic batcave now $188.99, that makes sense as 30% off

Even as a dog lover, I'm not particularly interested in #40235, the February 16th-28th promo
I don't want #40290 personally and I might not get one just to trade unless the deals that get me to $125 are great.
Tuesday the 6th is a rare weekday non-holiday off work, and the weather report is ordinary, so a trip to the LEGO Store might happen.
