^Do stores generally run out of calendars?  I probably won't be able to get to a store until after Christmas.

Any idea what the time limit/frame is for in-store visits to get the calendar?

The 'exclusive' stamp in the 2017 calendar has a calendar icon with '2017' below it, I can make an educated guess what the new exclusive stamp will look like...
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Last year you could get the calendar well into January. Might be different this year, but haven't seen any dates in the articles posted on Hothbricks/Promobricks/Bouwsteentjes.
Might be worthwhile giving a store a call?

They’re handing out calendars and excess Black Friday stock right now.

I left the store in Wijnegem about an hour ago with a calendar, which I didn’t expect.
No sticker needed this time, just spend €20. I also got a nutcracker and 24-in-1 calendar
because I purchased for an amount of €65.

    @Humdrum

No 2018 sets available in-store yet? Probably not as there was nothing in yet when I passed by Monday last week but you never know...
  • HumdrumHumdrum Member Posts: 71
@Kerre I didn't spot anything new. The opposite, a few sets on my wanted list (like the winter vignettes) weren't in stock. They did have the two most recent Winter Village sets (Toy Shop went the way of the dodo) and Women of Nasa ideas set. I don't recall seeing the Saturn V set either.

^Looks like a US/Canada memo to me. SW pod dates for Europe are different. Went to the Wijnegem store today and was handed a "countdown to Christmas" leaflet with promotions mostly in line with what @stlux wrote on the previous page.

1-5 Dec Free Iconic Christmas set with min 55€ purchase
6-11 Dec 20 % off on all Duplo, Juniors, City and Friends sets
    12-14 Dec Surprise offer
    15-17 Dec Double VIP
18-24 Dec Free Star Wars anniversary pod with min 55€ SW purchase

What I got on top of my purchases was in line with what @Humdrum got, with the "Iconic Christmas set" on top:

Bought: Garmadon's lair + Lloyd spinner + City accessory set
Got as extras: 2018 Calendar + Christmas buildup + Nutcracker + Iconic Chrismas set. Not much to say about that last one that hasn't been said already but it's impressing how much disappointment come out of such a small Lego box. Then again chuffed to bits with all the other extras.

BTW, Wijnegem had #40262 Christmas Train Ride #40262 and #40263 Christmas Town Square #40263 in stock if I recall correctly.

Be interesting to see as the promotion was in the Christmas 2017 leaflet as well and is supposed to start on the 18th of this month. I hope it does come out as I was quite looking forward to this one.

Thanks, now I need to justify spending £15 on something

Christmas countdown mailing went out to mailinglist-subscribing VIP members.

No mention of the Star Wars pod. Just “Get great savings on selected sets! 18th to 24th Dec”.

The good news is that the surprise is going to be a super surprise though!

I got the 2018 calendar today in Watford. But been so busy I've not really looked at properly!

They had them in Cardiff last thursday.

SW pod has been cancelled in UK(maybe EU) as well. Same reason as in US/CA.

Did Glasgow store give any idea what the surprise is dec 12th - 14th @spicypig?
  • spicypigspicypig Member Posts: 287
HQ is still discussing. Not decided yet. @Lego_Star

one of the options is a free pick a brick box with some purchase... You get a paper box and take bricks from pab wall.
  • brickedinbrickedin Member Posts: 574
^ that was done a few years back, you can get a lot more in a box as opposed to a cup so would be glad to see it back

After the free #5004934 Christmas Ornament atrocity, the 20% off all Duplo, Juniors, City and Friends sets is now active. (Until 11 Dec) That's not a discount that will entice me, apart from store exclusives #41325 Heartlake City Playground and #60162 Jungle Air Drop Helicopter. (But already have those)

So we still have this to look forward to:
    • 12 Dec - 14 Dec: 20% off a mystery set
    • 15 Dec - 17 Dec: Double VIP
    • 18 Dec - 24 Dec: Offers on Star Wars sets
Hopefully we'll get #5005376 Star Wars Anniversary Pod sometime next year after they have fixed whatever was wrong with it.

I asked this in another thread to no answer but how do people know that a set will be 20% off from 12-14 December? I'm just seeing "surprise offer" on the website. Couldn't it be a gift with purchase? Just wondering if I've missed an announcement or email.

@LostInTransation It was on a parking disk style promo leaflet I got visiting the Wijnegem store 1st December.

Unfortunately I can't post a pic since I'm traveling at the moment.

Edit: might confuse this with the 18th-24th promo.
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
    ^Scratch that.

it's probably not yet clear (or even decided as @spicypig posted) what the 12th-14th Super Surprise offer will be.

Same thing for the 18th-24th offer. The mail sent out on the 2nd no longer mentions SW. We know the SW pod is off the table at least temporarily, maybe the replacement offer is not limited to SW or is something else altogether.

@LostInTranslation @Kerre The Christmas countdown page on S@H was updated today and reflects what I posted.
It's also in line with what Promobricks and Hothbricks have reported as changes to this month's offers.

Those sources are usually more reliable than a store employee ;)

Thank you for your replies. I have been looking on the UK stores page where the newsletter and upcoming promos are posted but that has  not been updated.
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@LostInTranslation Don't rely on TLG's sites to keep you up to date of promotions/anything much related to Lego ;) Think of the poor lonely hamster trying to keep it all running!

At the end of the day though, until TLG actually announce or run a promo isn't everything else just speculation or rumour?

I think they must know what set is going to be the Super Suprise offer. Considering the SW sales are going to happen after it, I would say it wouldn't be any of the SW sets, plus probably none of the sets that received Black Friday reductions. I'd also say it would have to be a fairly large set to be singled out as a 'super' suprise. So going on that line of thinking maybe Ninjago City or Assembly Square? Or perhaps the Disney Castle? Too optimistic? Not that I want any of those sets as I have AS already and am not looking to buy the other two.

  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
I would very much support the Disney Castle being 20% off. My wallet may hate me for it, though. I'm curious if we'll be disappointed once again, or not...

Wijnegem (BE) is out of Calendar btw. I got a stamp on my receipt on thursday with the word "Kalender" written over it, so I can come back when they get some new ones... 500 gone in a few days. Not sure how they didn't expect that, but OK ;)

Has anyone got next years calendar from any U.K. Shops last couple of days? I forgot when I went to London this week so now I'll have to make a special trip to Cardiff or back to London... is it free with a £25 spend?? Is it worth it, I've never had one!
  • Toc13Toc13 Member Posts: 1,150
Free with £15 spend iirc. There's some nice freebies to be had next year. Worth it if you can get to your nearest store every month or so
  • AdeelZubairAdeelZubair Member Posts: 2,710
So I spent £15+ by purchasing three copies of #40308 - Lester however the Leicester Square store didn't have any calenders in stock. On the way home I decided to visit my local store to try my luck; they refused to give me a copy after showing the receipt as proof of purchase, stating they'll have less copies in their store if they give them out...

    ...Really? (Sigh...)

    Worth a phone call, @Adzbadboy

Customer services might be able to send one out.

    @LuLego

I did that, and got a pretty much copy-paste response. I did reply (in case they got the wrong end of the stick) but obviously that was before Christmas...

Must admit, I’ve been in and out of the UK Milton Keynes store and not seen the calendar at all :-(
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
Apart from #40290 60 Years of the LEGO Brick when spending GBP100/EUR125, there is now an additional promotion as well: #30541 Build a Duck is free, no purchase required. Seems to be in store only.

#30356 Hot Dog Stand is sold out online, so free when buying any City set in store only while stocks last there.

Any word on the EU Store calendar for May? I've only been able to find the US version.
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@Bumblepants Unlike the US Store Calendar, the EU one is usually only released at the start of the period it covers. Haven't found it myself anywhere yet either.

Finally confirmation of the May the 4th offers for Europe:
    • Free #40288 BB-8 when spending EUR65/GBP65 or more on Star Wars sets
    • Double VIP on all Star Wars sets (excl the new UCS Y-Wing #75181)
    • 20% of selected SW sets - no details yet though
The offers are valid 04-07 May; nothing yet about anything for Black VIP card holders.

^ Nothing that BB8 is in store only? That will be a relief to some.

Actually is BB8 definitely on all weekend (subject to stock)? Sure I saw it was to be one day only (4th). I mentioned to brand store staff a week or so ago and they didn't correct me.

Looking forward to 20% off the First Order AT-ST :/ Or will they only give us 10% off as it was only half a set to begin with?

@Lego_StarFree exclusive LEGO® Star Wars™ BB-8™ (40288) offer is valid for orders online at shop.LEGO.com, in LEGO Stores and LEGO Catalogue telephone orders from 4th to 7th May 2018, or while stocks last.

As usual, the Lego Store employees are super nice, but they don't always get their info much earlier than we AFOL's do...
