    My Playmobil. Mainly the knights and castle theme, although recently bought a few of the children playground and family van sets.

    Also collected the female anime figurines :)

    The Gundam toys at the back are from the Mobile Suit In Action series (MSIA) which I've got around 60+ of them.

    I remember having a plastic model kit (in the late 80s possibly) that my Dad put together for me. I no longer have it, and I can't remember what it was - does the following description sound familiar to anyone?
    • The main model was a 4-legged machine (I think it reminded me slightly of The Tripods which was on TV around that time).
    • It was armed with a main gun that was recessed in the hull and could be elevated slightly. Kind of like a tank with legs.
    • It also had a cylindrical pod on the top that housed several missiles.
    • Pretty sure there was a driver/commander figure with an opening hatch.
    • Possibly 1/72 scale or 1/100 or thereabouts.
    • Each leg was vaguely cylindrical, went out sideways from the body, and was hinged at the knees, with the bottom half going down vertically to a semi articulated round foot plate with 3 toes - probably no too dissimilar to those on an AT-AT walker. Its stance was a bit like a 4-legged spider.
    • It was moulded in olive green plastic.
    • I think there was also a smaller conventional-looking vehicle that came in the set. I can't remember if it was wheeled or tracked, but I believe it had a rectangular rocket launcher array on top.
    It was definitely not a ZOID. It came on several frames and required gluing together like an Airfix kit.

    ^ Spot on! The thing on the the left is definitely the right thing, although the vehicle on the right is not something I remember at all. I wonder if it had an optional rocket launcher instead of a turret? Hmm...

    ^ To answer my own thoughts, possibly!

    Here's a set that's been built and painted:


    And here's the same wheeled vehicle with a rocket launcher in place of the gun turret. I think this is how I remember it, so I guess the set must have contained both options:

    ^Pretty sure you're entirely correct.  I have a VERY vague memory of having a mech from that line (which was a copy of one of the original Battletech mechs or vice versa).  It was incredibly well articulated and was highly customisable as far as weapons options went.  
      Massive props to @MaffyD for finding it based on the description, not to mention introducing me to a site that brought back a LOT of memories!  I frickin LOVED my Blue Thunder model kit from back in the day.  I've also bookmarked that site for future reference purposes - there's some serious MOC inspiration contained in those pages!

    I have some LotR Royal Selangor that people bought me for birthdays/Christmas when the films came out and they had no other inspiration... I like them, but not THAT much.

    Some of the best look like that ^ dragon...

    ^ 1 of the few collections I still own is Sculptors Workshop Tolkien Pewter, Glass and LE casts. Most of it is from the 80's and was designed by the same sculptor who was commissioned to do the Royal Selangor lines when they were licensed for the films!  A lot of the same sculpts were in both lines but his early work from the 70's and 80's is much more inspired by the original artwork than any imagery associated with the films (obviously!).  I hate the Selangoe line with a passion because it's made the original casts a LOT harder to find.

    Following hot on the heels of recent exclusive LEGO minifigure acquisitions (Lester and Darth Revan), I've also just acquired some exclusive 6" Black Series figures - the GAME exclusive Inferno Squad Agent and HASCON exclusive Captain Rex :) 

     

    I wonder if LEGO will release an Inferno Squad minifigure in a Battlefront II set in 2018? #75134 was an awesome set for Battlefront minifigures...

    ^ That’s the same era of cards I have. Convinced I was sitting on a goldmine back then. I didn’t realize it was actually just a pile of paper essentially.

    I must admit, I sold and got out of the sports cards hobby right in time and got most of my investment back.  (That was in 1995.)

    I knew something was hincky when i sold a 'rare' John Olerud rookie card for $50.00.  

    And I had to raise money to dump into a different money pit.  (A 1972 Chevelle...)

    The RISKs you can trim to just the LOTR trilogy & the Star Wars variant (Black series or otherwise). Those actually attempt to fix the problems with RISK rather than just slapping a new label on it.
    Or pick up Small World for much the same gameplay without the endless dicefest

    Just got a Marvel Legends Miles Morales to start off my action figure collection. After hating action figures with a passion for the past 10 years, I'm really happy with him. Great poseability and nice molds and prints.

    I got a couple of the marvel legends for my boys because they were cheap.
    A year later, we have like 30 of them, half of the characters my sons don't even know.
    Plus... getting a complete Juggernaut was a must!

    Yes, action figures in general are a slippery slope, but the Legends series more than most, since they include the Build-A-Figure pieces.

    My Magic the Gathering and Pokemon TCG dark ages also recently ended, not good for my wallet or available time. As with Lego, seeing some on clearance got me interested in spending a lot more. MegaBloks currently has a Pokemon theme, and I'm open them if I like the license, but not right now.

    Big fan of coins myself, @jpcz - I have a few silver dollars, but I'm focused on newer stuff, silver or not, due to cost/availability

    I already have too many board games in the house, so I purposely avoid buying more. @Toc13 glad to hear LOTR or Star Wars RISK are actually different games. Star Wars LIFE is like that too. Sometimes even when I like both original game and license the same gameplay with a different aesthetic gets @Toc13

    @SumoLego @Yodalicious got loads of baseball cards from around 1990 myself. it was a kid hobby when I was more into baseball. Wasn't the problem massive overprinting? Now it feels like the card industry has gone the other way, overemphasizing ultra rare inserts. I might complete some old sets but not get into new cards. It's something separate to collect, rather than using new and old together as with lego.

    Unlike SumoLego and sports cards, a few years ago I bought some silver coins while the price was high and had to sell some as the price was going down. It's still a relatively cheap investing lesson, a better deal than some things I could have bought, and some of the collectible coins weren't as affected by the metal price.

    I would say I collect boardgames but I try to keep it to 100 games & have a cull once a year or so using Friendless stats site to see what's getting played or not. 
    There may be a 20 year old copy of Star Wars Monopoly hiding in there that was a well-meant present but that's it for mass-market games
    I played a lot of Magic from the mid 90s for about 6 or so years but I ended up judging a lot more than playing. It did mean my costs were kept down & I only collected the Elf cards. Didn't get around to picking up the Alpha Elvish Archer but did have a Playset of Alpha Llanowars which along with some other printing oddities, foreign foils & the like are in a binder stored safely (& a ridiculous Elf deck that I don't think is legal in any format)

    My Action Figure collection is now official started. I've got Marvel Legends Miles Morales and Bandai Model Kit Shoretrooper. The Shoretrooper was actually really fun to assemble, but the decals were a nightmare! The instructions weren't terribly clear on where to put them plus they were sooo tiny. The end result was pretty good though. I may post a pic of him sometime soon.

    My collecting habits went the other way as Lego took over from Star Wars action figures and Vehicles as finding variants and exclusives became a bit of an obsession.
    Unfortunately this had been a life long hobby and to recapture a bit of my youth, I also (and I know I'm going to get some flack for this) had the bright idea to collect AFA graded versions of all 77 figures from the Return of the Jedi card back but that turned out to be a bit too much for the wallet to stomach (even the original loose figures are bloomin expensive) which coincided with wifey buying me a Lego set and the rest is history. Of course the irony of how many figures I could have brought for the cost of the Falcon is not lost on me but at least I get to build it as opposed to just looking at it.

    I have many semi-collections worth of things, though I don't call them such to make myself feel better! I've nearly finished my collection of Ghibli films on Blu Ray, I have a number of collections of different game franchises, and the current active one is my goal to acquire all of the Classic Doctor Who DVD's in Region 1. Sadly many of these are out of print, so there's lots of hunting for deals.

    Yes, I find that they're different but complementary SW collections. Both share display space but I build the LEGO and display it on brick-built stands, whilst the action figures are displayed MIB/MOC in acrylic cases (they're not graded though).

    I've not made an active decision to stop buying LEGO, it's just that TLG's recent focus on non-iconic OT vehicles has meant I haven't bought as much. Like you, LEGO and action figure collecting is a throw-back to my childhood. Adult LEGO collecting was triggered by a 2015 trip to LEGOLAND with my daughter, and adult action figure collecting was triggered by the 40th anniversary of Star Wars and the vintage-styled cardbacks and 6" figures that were released for that (although I actually ended up buying retired 3.75" figures on vintage-style cardbacks and some of the latest 6" boxed figures).

    My collection of both LEGO and action figures is modest by most standards (currently 20 sets, 30 minifigures and 14 action figures), but a lack of display space and an attempt at minimalism has meant that I've focused only on those sets and figures that I really love (from 2017, going back as far as 2012 for LEGO and 2004 for action figures). Going forward I doubt I will buy a huge amount more of either. I'd like to keep my display to a single set of IKEA KALLAX shelves, and the total value of my collection to below £1,000. Time will tell...

    In the early 90s my childhood Star Wars obsession was replaced by WH40K (first edition). 20 years later I started reading Black Library WH40K novels again, and last year they re-released WH40K (8th edition). Today I picked up the First Strike box set and Dark Imperium novel...

    What have I done? I was just planning on picking up some Marvel Legends figures, but now I'm funneling all my Lego funds toward a 300+ diecast Mark 45. It'll be worth it though!

    In the early 2000's there was a line of Simpsons figures and playsets called World Of Springfield. I have the complete collection of roughly 200 figures and 40 playsets. Unfortunately mine are all boxed up at the moment so I stole this photo from Google to give a good representation of a part of the collection.

    I also have a complete collection of all regular Master Replicas .45 scaled lightsabers. These are all fully machined metal and very detailed. There are roughly 18 regular lighsabers in total if I remember correctly.  There are many more chase variants consisting of gold, chrome and dark chrome that are more expensive than I care for. These are also unfortunately packed away so I have included a google image of a few.

    My other obsession is original comic book art. I have about 400 pages not including convention sketches. I have some really nice pages......including,  several Infinity Gauntlet pages,  Turtle pages,  Walking Dead pages but this is the one that gets the most attention

    My son has about 1000 dvds, 1000 cds, 2500 different Pokemon cards, 200 Ultraman figures and 60 or so Japanese Power Ranger Megazords. His room is a wonderful and dangerous place to enter.

    I recently got the Hot Wheels bug. My sons have 400-500, which includes about 200 that we’re mine when I was little. I’ve now gone on an all-things-Chevy path. And, of course, one to open and one to keep sealed of each.

    I too collected these sets! They were great figures and luckily for the people who enjoyed posing the figures (and not using the interactive abilities), the interface at the bottom didn't pose a problem.

    I go through phases and cycles of collecting.

    I’m a collector of David Bowie’s music.  I have sold my 200 odd CD’s now in favour of fewer vinyls and a digital collection of all tracks, single edits, remixes, live versions etc.

    I started with the Batman Animated Series figures, and eagle moss Star Trek large scale starships, but have sold them on too in favour of Lego which I got into fairly recently (currently Lego Batman Movie and a few Creator sets)

    I used to collect physical Ultimate Marvel comics, but have since switched to DC Batman.  Not a collection as such, but own a lot of digital comics that I read on an iPad.

    Also in the process of selling off Blu-rays I own in favour of Apple TV downloads.

    As a result of my LEGO collection, I've become quite a collector of Really Useul Boxes, which started because of my need for storage but now I'm quite addicted to all their boxes for other things!

    Kind of a forbidden pleasure for a  AFOL, but I also collect COBI (WW2 Tanks and Planes) although they are kept separate from my LEGO, amongst my Really Useful Boxes collection!

    Other than that, my love of History & Poland means I'm always adding to my collection of books, films, music, badges, visits and anything related to those two areas.

    I have also used my children as excuses to collect things like Playmobil and Scalextrix, although those collections are for them to take with them if they ever start a family in later life.

    My biggest regret was that the collection of Star Wars and Action Man toys I grew up with in the 70s were played with and not stored away in mint condition until now otherwise I would have been a rich man!
