Brickset Bendybadger Bonusball – 01Dec17 SeijiAmasawa Edition

Q: The rampant shopping season is upon us. Name one of the most memorable deals you scored this year or from years past during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. You may explain why if the mood strikes.

A: Maybe 6 years ago, I scored 8 Duplo buckets for $7.5/each from S@H. It was rather alarming at first to have to store so many. But it’s been so handy having them as I always had something to give whenever an occasion came up. I’m glad to say that I’m giving the last bucket to a 1.5 year old cutie pie this Christmas.

For anybody wondering how this works, well, it's simple. Answer the question and get a number based on your post in order between 1 and 59 for the UK national lottery bonus ball. If your number gets drawn on Saturday night, you win the prize. If you don't make the first 59 replies, well there's always next week to be a little quicker (copied from @stlux).

Up for grabs this week is the Target mini Millennium Falcon ‘polybag’ misspellings and all.

Good luck!

PS I had to post early as I start work very soon.

I would have to go with getting #8877 Vladeks Dark Fortress for $25 at Target. It was technically post BF when I got it but it was originally merch for that event. That pulled me out of the dark ages and I might be on a different website goofing off during work than this one if not for that fateful day.

This year Gap had various codes that could be stacked to get anything costing a tenner for essentially nothing if you used multiple accounts. I bought my kids two outfits each for Christmas presents for between 20p and 50p an item.

Why is this lego related? It means that some of the lego presents I already bought them can now be given to ... me !

I scored a few extra hours of sleep (to later work on Lego, of course!). I never go out on Black Friday!

Got the Friends Dolphin Cruiser for around £23 a couple of years back. It is still in the present cupboard waiting to make an appearance- which may be in January.

I'm now curious about the Gap codes- although I'm not sure they'd work in the outlet store near me

Nothing note able here either, I've had to work most of my adult holidays.

Best deal was a Dyson vacume priced at 400.00 that I got for 75.00 though not a black Friday deal.

The target Star Destroyer deal 10 years ago #6211....I can't remember how much it was, but I know it was good....my son built it when he was 5 and still has it on display proudly in his room and remembers it as his first big Lego set he built by himself (mostly).

I once scored #9516-1 -80% at a local toy shop who was selling out everything. It was the last box left so I was quite happy with my find.

Last year I was able to stack promos at Target to get (my second) First Order Special Forces Tie Fighter for around $25. Quite a steal since it's usually $70!

Six POTC Black Pearls for $75 each at Target right at the end of the run. Got cold feet at the amount I was spending so didn't get more but, boy, should I have ever!

I scored a special pressure mat to stand on (a bit lego related since I use it when I build Lego standing). Normal price 23, now got an extra one for 7 pounds!

Thanks for hosting after your win last week!

Don'r recall a great deal on Black Friday. 2 years ago I bought a new telly thinking it was a great deal with a £150 reduction. 10 days later it got another £90 off...I hate Currys/PC World! :p

I think this was from a end of year clearance instead of Black Friday, but I scored some of the sorting trays from LSAH, that I still really enjoy using today.

thank you for hosting @SeijiAmasawa !!!

Several years ago I got LEGO Rock Band for PlayStation 3 for free with a $20 purchase of other items at Old Navy. My girlfriend needed socks anyway, so we both got what we wanted.

I think that mine this year would be #75176-1 for £15.19 via the 20% off Amazon Warehouse Black Friday offer. The RRP is definitely not worth it but this price was pretty good and worth paying.

Not strictly Black-Friday related, but I managed to buy 3 x #75017s (Duel on Geonosis) @ 75% off at my local Tesco several years ago.  Those were the days....!

I forget the exact year, but I scored an $1100 laptop for $300 at BestBuy. Dollar wise, I'm sure that will forever be my biggest savings!

Best Black Friday deal I ever had was just after Amazon started up the Pantry side of the business, they were giving away £3 Pantry credit with every no rush delivery, so as opposed to ordering items all at once, placed separate no rush orders for all the items I was buying, (Cheap T-shirts, Yankee candles for the missus and various other small purchases as and when they came up).
To cut a long story short, ended up getting £60 worth of pantry purchases for nothing.

10+ years ago, when it was actually worth lining up before stores opened for Black Friday, I scored a desktop PC that the family really wanted and needed along with a slew of PS2 games that had a deep discount.

Nowadays, IMO, no deal out there is worth waiting in the cold for, especially with online shopping.  Even then, it just seems like year after year, the BF deals just get less and less enticing.  And when it comes to big ticket electronics, it just seems like only the 1+ year old models or made-for-BF stuff gets reduced.  Everything else, I'd rather wait the month or 2 where the sale repeats itself or pay slightly more instead of dealing with the lines, traffic, and crazies that are out there during BF weekend.

I'm such a loser, I've never scored a decent Black Friday deal. I did get a couple of Luke landspeeders for £5 each earlier in the year though, so it's not all bad!

I would have to say this year actually.

Following @Fireheart 's rather large purchase from @Huw last week, @Fireheart very generously passed on his stonking deal by selling me the mint and sealed #8169 and #8214 Lambos for near rrp.

    Very very happy.

Not much of a deal but I picked up iron man Detroit steel strikes at Smyths for 30% off. l wasn't gonna pick it up at rrp,  but at that price I'm now using it to make my own advent calender

    What about an accidental deal?

TRU had a BOGO50% deal a few years ago. I wanted the Sith Fury Class Interceptor (the set with Darth Malgus). It was $90, but I couldn’t find another set for $90 that I wanted to really maximize the deal. I ended up adding a $50 Star Wars set, but the system didn’t take the 50% off of the $50 set...it took it off the $90 Malgus set. So, of course, I had to try something. I removed the $50 set from my cart, added one of those $10 planet sets they used to have. Sure enough, the $90 again dropped to $45. Happy Black Friday to me.

Hardly ever bought any Black Friday deals! But one of possibly only two was the
#10197 Fire Brigade, 10% off to bring it down to £90, knowing it was going to be discontinued very shortly afterwards. A few months later it was already at £250!

(But it wasn't bought for the value... I simply wanted it. A couple of days after buying, it was already built and displayed, still my first and only modular)

The other deal was iZotope Trash 2, which is completely unrelated to this board but an excellent distortion audio effect. Recommended to anyone that makes any kind of noise.

I think it had to be last year, where I scored this blue Imaginext robotic-type T-Rex for half off.  Retail value was $100, and I got it for $50.  I was thrilled because I knew my three year old would love it.

I usually focus more on deals throughout the year, and in general try to avoid crowds. This Saturday however I completely unplanned walked into one of the local supermarkets because I had 5 minutes to kill. Picked up #42070 6x6 All Terrain Tow Truck for EUR 90.
Now debating whether to keep it for myself, or give it to my 5 year old niece who has it as the #1 item on her Christmas wish list...

Thanks for organising this week @SeijiAmasawa! And no need to credit me for how this works; pretty sure I copied that paragraph from somebody else ;)
