As a closet collector of parts for MOCs I was wondering what people's favorite MOCs are?

My top three favorites to date have to be:

1) The Alien Chest Burster:

2) The Nebulon B Frigate:

3) The Colonial Viper:

Over to you!

Cavegod's AT-AT  for me - waiting patiently for TLG to do a UCS AT-AT, but unsure if it'll ever happen as I doubt Cavegod's would pass their stability standards - so many stories here that if you so much as look at it funny, something drops off, but it does look superb.

Mortesvs Nebulon B is definitely up there as one of my favourites but his version of the Tantive has got to be my favourite (to the point I've spent money to get the parts to build it).

I also really like the Arvo Brothers Alien and Chestburster but being late to the party with both of them I haven't even tried sourcing the parts due to the cost of some of the rarer parts.

Saying that there have been numerous MOC's that are really well done that if money was no object  would love to have a go at building (Anio's Venator, Raskolnikov's Star Destroyer to name a couple).

@bandit778 any idea how much you have spent building Tantive?

I have collected a large proportion of the part for the Nebulon, but still loads of expensive parts to go.

@TheFew ,  I would probably say roughly £200-275(inc shipping) from approx 25 differnent Bricklink/Brickowl/BNP orders.
Can't tell you the exact cost as I always fill up orders with other bricks for future planned builds to keep the price per brick down and I already had a bunch of general parts available in my parts collection.
I will get round to doing a spread sheet to work out the exact cost at some point just for my own satisfaction but that won't be for a while yet.

@bandit778 my behaviour is the same. I run a number of concurrent builds and also buy extra not immediately required parts when placing BL orders. So it makes working out the exact cost horrendous  (which may be a blessing in disguise).

Speaking as a classic space fan, Brian Darrow's Blacktron Intelligence Agency will always be near the top of the list for me.  I'd love to recreate it myself, but it's not going to happen...

Adrian Drake's Serenity was pretty cool, too!

That Serentity is fabulous! There was another one that I got the instructions for. I bricklinked the parts and built it for myself, but it wasn't a patch on this one :-O

There are so many fabulous MOCs on TBB I would find it hard to put in a top three, or a top ten. Elspeth @DeMontes does a load of great ones, including the recent Bosco Verticale which I loved:

My go to 'see it and smile' builds are the microscale LotR models I see - perhaps because I can dream of actually building these, or some approximation thereof:

And then you have the SHIPtember and Vic Viper models (because I'm a sci-fi fan too):

Sorry for spamming a lot of TBB content - it's just that they have a decent tag system for models.

Alice Finch's Hogwarts for me. My wife is a huge HP fan, but not much of a LEGO one (although it's growing on her), but she loves looking at pics of it. Although I'll never build a 400,000+ piece anything, it has inspired me with my own (much smaller) Hogwarts which is currently in progress.

@MaffyD aw thanks for the mention. Bosco Verticale is going into the Masterpiece Gallery at LEGO House next week so your comments made my day. Lots of clingfilm is being deployed!!

@DeMontes - no problem! Credit where it's due imo :-) Also reminds me of the first time I mentioned one of your builds and said something like "You ought to display these somewhere" and I didn't know how prolific and well regarded you were already!

My wife would love that Serenity MOC. Anything know if the directions are available for that one and where to get them?

For her birthday, I bought her custom figs of characters and found a good pic of the cast and put it all in a frame. She has it at work.

Sign of the Times by Mike Doyle (

    - Matches by Carl Merriam (

Legendary Outlaw by Chris McVeigh (

    - Greeble De Mayo by Legohaulic (

    - Chestburster by Arvo Brothers (

You'll find all the the fantastic MOCs and LEGO related content that I've favourited on Flickr. It was quite tricky picking my shortlist as there are some incredible MOCs and talented builders in our community. (
