Still - I'll only believe I've got them when they show up on our doorstep. I had TRU cancel quite a bit of orders in the past for non reason whatsoever.
What surprised me a bit is that this promotion didn't run in the store itself. I took my two boxes from a corner shelf designated for online orders only, and I paid €35. If I had taken the same two boxes from their main Ninjago display I would've had to pay €55.
It's not the first time I've run into this pricing strategy from the Colruyt group, sometimes the store is cheaper or vice versa. And on rare occasions there's other deals in the small offering of Lego they have in their Colruyt stores as well... no wonder I have to help colleagues every year to find the best Sinterklaas deals.
But I did get my pricematch (~1.5EUR), else I would have ordered online right there and returned the next day to pick that same box up :P
Obivously as with all Colruyt promos an Xtra card is required.
You do get to choose the set of your preference out of the two remaining sets for the free set with 40 euro LEGO purchase promotion now.
So maybe they used up their cardboard allotment for the month on my parcel, and had to cut corners on @sid3windr's?
Do you pay postage on the .de one? I thought last time I ordered from there it would be free but ended up paying over 4 euro's
I had 3 airbags in there but the cardboard itself is just really really flimsy. Everything except the Ninjago figs is dented - not as bad as the average Amazon parcel, but still.
BTW,
The deal is actually better in-store, because there it's "Buy Master Falls, get Ninjago City free" and MF is 32.95. On the website it's 32.95 for MF, 34.99 for the combo...
Then decided to do my therapeutical complaining here to see I'm not the only one to receive damaged sets. Box in question:
I got:
- An oversized box (depending on the way you look at it, see below)
- In flimsy cardboard
- with the sets on the bottom, biggest set just about the size of the box
- the rest of the shipping box filled with air bags, limiting the protection of its contents severely.
Set was lying flat on the bottom, then the fig, rest was airbags - guess they ran out of them by the time yours was prepared @sid3windr. Packaging consistent with @stlux, but not that the airbag were of much use. The #70625 box was 2 cm shorter than it should be.
Any success contacting TRU CS? About to do the same, not looking forward to it given the atrocious experience earlier this week.
I think there essentially were enough airbags in there to fill the box other than sets (I had 3 small sets + figs). But the boxes are just absolutely not suitable for anything but baby clothes...
I don't think GLS has anything to do with it - packaging needs to be able to survive a good kicking.
The other sets are a duplo train, Friends sunshine catamaran, a police station, the first order star destroyer and technic #42070
Here you can find the time tables of the busses
bus 410, Antwerpen - Turnhout: https://www.delijn.be/nl/lijnen/lijn/1/410/7#2
Careful then, Belgian law requires shops to be closed for at least one day per week. The LEGO store Wijnegem is typically closed on Sunday. There's a big blurb on the center's website (in Dutch/Flemish) about a Sunday opening on the 15th of October; quite likely meaning they're closed tomorrow.
Antwerp's recommended of course* - lived in Antwerp for four years myself - but the trip to Wijnegem Shopping centre isn't exactly scenic and it would be unfortunate to arrive at a closed LEGO store.
*though as I local I assure you Ghent (and too a lesser extent Bruges) are way more interesting ;)
Did you get a refund or a voucher for the next smashed box? (not sure which smiley I want to put behind this question)
It's definitely not worth the time, agreed. I gave TRU the benefit of the doubt up until this issue. There were a couple of seemingly random cancellations without explanation but most of the orders did arrive and were well packaged. This was the time to show how they deal with something going wrong.
The 5 € refund is just about what I considered the bare minimum to accept the damaged box in this particular case. The slow and cumbersome interaction with TRU CS did not help at all either. TRU is now a company I'd rather not deal with.
I had one item cancelled ('storniert') when I got my Batman figs, without explanation or message. Not that bad as I only got it to go over the threshold for the free figs. Ordered it again for the Ninjago figs - fully expecting it to be cancelled again - but this time I did get it. Which is fine too. Just a bit battered.
Not all promo's are matched for instance. Looking at my order history with them, TRU certainly was the cheapest vendor of the two. One reason is that sometimes Amazon doesn't bother to match or is too slow to catch up some the limited time discounts ("x% off LEGO this weekend only"). Don't think Amazon matches discounts for buying multiple items either, like the 15% off when buying three items across a large part of the range last summer.
There's also still the dreaded "This item does not ship to your destination" message that has a tendency to sometimes spoil one's excitement when there's a good offer on Amazon.de.
Fun.be has 20% off the entire range coming Wednesday 20th of October only (FunStunts excluded). Small print mentions the discount cannot be combined with any other offer but in the past these discounts did stack with ordinary Fun.be "Promo" prices. If so, some decent deals can be had that day.
Kruidvat.be is doing a buy one, get second half off (LEGO and Playmobil). Pretty standard fare for Kruidvat, except that they seem to have extended their LEGO range and now also carry a fair number of medium and larger sets. There might be a good deal to be had if you can pair two sets of a similar price.
It's a Wednesday alright but it's next week i.e. Wednesday 25th.
And you'll need a funcard.

I was planning to get my #75190 from Fun® anyway on the 25th but this would be the cherry on top.
The Fun Inc. small print does mention #5004916 is free when purchasing a bouwdoos, so you likely won't get away with just buying a CMF.
Available for preorder, available from the 23rd. Also they're not mentioning what minifig is in the pack but I'm assuming #40176.
Anyone seen these in the wild?
What I find peculiar is that Brickshop does not mention what minifig is in the box anywhere on their site, just that it's an "exclusive minifigure". They do have the box in their webshop as a SKU though and can be added for free with a qualifying purchase.
Then we've got other retailers that are supposed to carry the pack being mentioned in different places. I'm looking for confirmation of claimed availability of the pack at these retailers, both in-store and online. Sophie's blog post mentions Dreamland but I could not yet find anything on it on the Dreamland site. Nothing to be found on the Intertoys site either but Promobricks.de has pictures sent in by a reader. Promobricks also mentions availability at Bol.com in another post - yet another retailer - but again nothing to be found on their site.
My local Friendly Fun did not yet have the pack in when their promotion started last Wednesday. Fun left me a voicemail 6pm Friday night telling me they had arrived though. No idea if you get one as well when ordering online from Fun, nothing extra was added to my basket with a qualifying purchase in it.
The box is 30cm wide, 20cm depth and 2cm high.
Inside you can find the following stuff:
- #40176 Scarif Stormtrooper
- A leaflet to participate in a concours to win some Lego Star Wars prices (you have to say which side you want to be and how many people will participate
- Three Star Wars cards to hand out to friends to invite them to see the movie (not entrance tickets but really just a card invitation)
- A Stormtrooper origami cardboard (you have to punch out the Stormtrooper and glue it together, when finished it looks like a brickhead.
Ps: They dont get any warning at the counter, so when paying I had to ask for it, otherwise I wouldn't got it.
Got mine earlier today:
Clearly conceived as a Last Jedi promo so it's a bit strange weird to see a Rogue One minifig included. Then again, it's a desirable fig so no reason to complain. No doubt this promo will have an effect on #42176 prices in this region.
Also, one of the prizes to be won is a Star Wars bedroom make-over!
My point was that you and I know what's in the box - we've read the blog post and this thread - but as an "ordinary" Brickshop.nl customer there is no way to know it's #40176 unless you have info from another source.
I find that strange. I'd expect the brickset.nl target customers to be especially interested in a #40176 so why not put in in your newsletter/web store item description?
