Do the normal set shipping boxes in the USA have that big pink banner with TOYS TOYS TOYS TOYS TOYS on it? It seems a strange box to put it on if not!

    Questions:
    • My order is still showing as "In Process" - should I be worried? In my experience, it's normally "In Warehouse" by now.
    • Will I get one of those shiny nice VIP Cards if I ordered online?
    • It said I would earn 0 VIP points once my amazing order had shipped. Anyone else get that? (I'm not all that worried on that front, though)
    • Lastly (and this is more just out of curiosity), was anyone at the Glasgow store this  morning? Was it busy? How many did they have?

I've ordered before with lots of troubles on launch or sale day. It could be 'processing' for a while. I've had " you get 'o' VIP points with this order" before in my confirmation email but it's always been corrected on the end invoice without me lifting a finger.

The issues with shipping and tax from other people, I do think that those usually get sorted automatically but definitely complain if they don't!

Oh and the VIP cards are for those online but ready read somewhere there's a limit of 20k.

Can't believe there's three signed sets online already. Shocking.

A long way back in this thread I remember someone saying there will be something that signifies the first run sets.  Maybe something on the seals?  Has anyone confirmed this?  I'm kind of hoping there isn't.  I don't want there to be anything that gives me pause on cracking the seals.

There's usually characters printed on the tape seals of all sets that denote where and when a set was produced

FYI: US LBR stores aren't accepting open box returns on the falcon and there's a 10% restocking fee

Forgive my stupidity but what is LBR? Why can't we return it, it's in their terms and conditions. Interesting.... wonder if that applies to online orders?

My shipping and tax were corrected on the confirmation email I received, and freebies were included. I looked at my credit card account, and they did a second charge for the difference between tax and shipping charges.

My status says "in warehouse." Hoping it's the warehouse that's 20 miles from my house!

It took me over an hour to successfully get an order through...
  • drakusdrakus Member Posts: 16
So I was able to get my order trough at 9:23AM EST with incorrect tax charge and shipping charge.  I got email confirmation at 11:26AM with all charges corrected but my credit card still shows a temporary charge with the incorrect amount.  I am assuming it will get corrected once it ships.
Current status: In Warehouse (I think I should be good)

I wonder if today's fiasco will repeat itself on October 1st or if they will attempt to fix things.  Based on what I've heard everyone on here say about past experiences on the Lego website I'm going to go out on a ledge and guess that nothing changes.  In the grand scheme of things Lego probably doesn't care much if it takes their website 2 hours due to crashes or 20 minutes if everything ran smoothly to move their inventory.  I'm guessing their customer service reps wished the website ran smoother.  Imagine all the grief they took from all the people that did manage to get through.

At least it looks like most of the people here that wanted it day 1 were able to get an order in or pick one up, unless those that missed out just don't feel like talking about it.

The amount of new people posting in this thread today says a lot about how popular this set is going to be despite the price.  I think we can put to bed any of that speculation about maybe it won't sell very well when the "rubber meets the road" and people have to shell out $800, at least in terms of initial demand.  Long term, who knows...

I looked online this morning, it was on back order. I had to log in to see that though, and ticked the 'remember me' button.

I just checked again. Had to log in again. Now it's just saying 'Available 1st Oct'. It's not even on back order.

    What an utter f*cking shambles.
In fairness, Brickset's Log In button works in much the same way!

The falcon is an interesting one- it's not just 10179 that commands a huge price, look at even the smaller 'microfighters' series falcon, now discontinued- that's going for silly money on eBay.

It's an iconic 'prop' from the iconic movie series know for iconic props!!

Reference @monstblitz comments, Lego fans wouldn't be the first group to be frustrated by the Star Wars effect. Just ask classic camera collectors and users what Star Wars did to the the price of graflex flash guns!

If lego has any commercial sense they will be watching with interest this re-release, no doubt it will lead to more expensive sets aimed at AFOLs.

I'm sure the original UCS falcon was something of a skunk-works project; you can bet there are lots of people working on these sorts of sets now.

How is the quality if Lepin?  Is it close?
Pretty much. There may be one or two missing pieces and some maybe slight color differences on a couple parts, maybe a working part or two does not work flawlessly. This is what I got from reviews from YouTube. Many people are very happy with them and you only pay 1/4 of the price...it's a win/win. They don't have a new Ucs falcon yet but they say it's coming for just over 200 bucks...
I bought the Lepin 10179 last year (and built it in the week before this one was to be announced!) It's close, but not 100%. The surfaces are slightly wavery, there were several missing pieces, some shorts - I need to post a picture of these in the Chinese Counterfeits thread, because the short axle and bar look pretty interesting! a couple of the 4x6 technics blocks wouldn't take a pin where it was required (I was able to swap these with blocks that could). Some of the 2780 pins had a little nubbin that I had to file off so they could fit. Ironically, one of Lnke Skywnlker's hands wouldn't fit into the arm hole, so he's somewhat movie-accurate. But really... it's too early to be thinking about Lepin. Seriously. It's not even been 24 hours yet! Personally, I only bought the Lepin one because there was no chance I could afford the aftermarket prices, and I hope that LEGO have learnt from the skyrocketing prices and Lepin's success enough to keep this one on the market for long enough that those who want it can save up for the legitimate version.

I have never had ANY Lego dispatch on the same day! lucky people. My order is currently waiting for new stock, IMO I am no better of than those left staring at 'temporarily out of stock' such a bummer the site crashed before I could get one of the first batch this morning.

Approx 1hr on sale and now back ordered! Any more reports from people queuing at the stores? Anyone else turned up at Milton Keynes for instance?
They had 40 in stock at MK. At opening time there were 36 people in the queue.
That's surprising, Leeds only had 16!
I'm told Mall of America had 24, Troy store 12, and most every other store in US has 8 or fewer (including Chicago (water-tower) who reportedly had 4? can anyone confirm that one?

OK. I ordered this morning, and I've just got back in now (to 266 new comments, if anyone's wondering), and I have some information (might be useful to someone) and some questions.
    Info:
    • I ordered at around 8:15 this morning on my phone, after trying several times on my laptop, then attempting to phone them. I was able to access the website from my phone and it was pretty smooth - I got in before backorders started.
    • It let me redeem VIP points and the like fine once I was in.
    • I received my order confirmation email at 13:23
    • This is my first time having trouble with orders - I'm usually either just lucky or go to the store.
    Questions:
    • My order is still showing as "In Process" - should I be worried? In my experience, it's normally "In Warehouse" by now.
    • Will I get one of those shiny nice VIP Cards if I ordered online?

Thanks for any answers (again, my first experience with he infamous [email protected] mess), and I apologise if any of this has already been covered in the (surely record-breaking, @Huw?) 260-odd posts I just scanned through!

You ordered at 8:15 and aren't backordered? Are you sure, I managed to get through at about 8:07, ordered straight away and was backordered. Website is working now - check your order status. I got the 0 VIP points message.

Well that's on the buyer not the seller. There are lots of foolish buyers on eBay just waiting to throw good money out the window. I remember when Twinkies were discontinued. Store shelves emptied the same day. A seller had 500 or more boxes at like a 50 dollars a box. He sold all of them. Lol A rational person knew they were gonna come back. But hype drives people to buy stuff they normally wouldn't or pay prices they normally wouldn't. eBay has actually made it worse and has made everything from discontinued Twinkies to Legos cash grabs for sellers....just the way it is now.

This guy knows. I can't believe that ebay is getting 10% of each 75192 listing.... sickening. And the way they treat sellers is not in concordance with the money they bring in. This is why I'm trying my best to move to BrickLink or local for my sales.... 6% total fees vs 13% (including PP).
