hello to all.

i would be greatfull for any help or views

i have just joined this site & its my first time ever listing a message about my toy collection.

not sure where to start as it would end up being 10 pages long. so il try to be brief & get to the point best i can for my 1st help mesage lol

iv been colleting toys for nearly 26 yesrs now & im 37 now. my collecting got abit out of hand & now i have 2 rooms in my house that are FULL with boxs & boxs of toys, used, new sealed mint etc allsorts! LEGO / TRANSFORMERS / HE MAN / STAR WARS / NINJA TURTLES / HARRY POTTER / DISNEY ETC ETC.

MY FRIENDS ARE TOTALY SHOCKED WHEN THEY SEE MY COLLECTION & ASK WHY EVER DO YOU HAVE SO MUCH???

I DONT KNOW, ITS JUST A BUG THAT GREW ON ME & IV NOW HAD TO "TRY" AND STOP! BUYING LOL, BUT YOU ALL KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO STOP

I STARTED TO SELL SOME OF IF OFF AS I OPENED AN EBAY ACCOUNT & SO FAR PEOPLE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH MY TOYS & SERVICE & I HAVE A PERFECT 400 SALES POSSITIVE FEEDBACK.

IM SCARED TO OPEN UP NEW MINT SEALED BOXS TO TRY & MAKE MORE MONEY FROM THE SETS? BUT I KNOW PEOPLE SAY YOU DO MAKE MORE?

IV OPENED AFEW STAR WARS BATTLE PACKS & SOME PHAROH MUMMY BATTLES PACKS & SOLD THE MINIFIGURES / PARTS ETC & MUST SAY THAT MOST OF THE MINIFIGURES ONLY SELL FOR THE 0.99P START PRICES & I ALWAYS DO A GREAT PICTURE ETC WITH NICE POSE.

ID LIKE TO DO THIS FOR A LIVING BUT SEEMS ABIT SLOW & I HAVE SO MUCH STUFF THAT ITS LIKE A 2 ROOM TOYS R US LOL DO GET ME WRONG IV SPENT ALOT!! OF MONEY ON MY MASSIVE TOY COLLECTION & DONT KNOW ANY1 IN MY SORT OR CERCLE WITH ANY TOY COLLECTING OR SELLING ADVICE, IF YOU GET MY MEANING. IM SORT OF SELF TOUGHT WITH HUNDREDS+++ HOURS LOOKS ON THE NET ETC & AT PROMOTIONS ETC ETC.

WHEN DEALS CAME UP GRABED THEM UP WHEN I HAD THE MONEY.

I KNOW PEOPLE SAY THEY HAVE ALOT BUT I REALY DO HAVE LOADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANYWAY I COULD GO ON FOR AGES, SO IL SEE WHAT ADVISE COMES BACK ABOUT HOW TO MAKE THE MOST IN THE FASTEST WAY. & WHO KNOWS MAYBE IL FIND ANOTHER HUGE COLLECTOR NEAR BY?

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME READING MY MESSAGE & I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING YOUR VIEWS & HELP.

1.WHY IS EVERYTHING YOU SAY IN CAPITAL LETTERS IT IS REALLY ANNOYING.

If it is mint still the box it will likley to go for alot more. Braking down the lots in to single sets will help you make more rather than selling as one big bulk lot as well how complete they are to. Although without knowing what is there people with more experience cant really value your stuff

    hi

caps never though any different but ok

i have so much that i will have to list some numbers when i get more time as im on the move. thanks for your message redbullgivesuwind. at a close geuss tho i must have over 100 boxed new sealed lego items from star wars 10195 down to small battle packs + batman dc heroes etc
+i have aprox 500 new sealed minifigures from series 1 to 5. thats but a fraction of my collection

i also have alot of technic sets all new sealed but & lots of the lego games that i thought of breaking down? into spares with their micro figures & plates bricks etc? but not sure if its worth it.

il try to list more of what i can see, as like i said i have 2 rooms full of boxs & i have no chance of remembering or getting to the boxs at the back of the roon unless i have a crazy sort thru 1 day

    see you all soon
    thanks again

If you have a MASSIVE list, try just putting together a big document, splitting everything into theme, and then uploading it onto a file sharing site that you can link to on various toy forums. If you're lucky people might take things off your hands in bulk!

Just for reference, CAPITAL LETTERS WHEN TYPED ON THE INTERNET ARE SEEN AS SHOUTING. It gets quite uncomfortable to read and you will find that you lose readers' interest quicker.

    @Legotastick.
If you are keen on selling your collection, you should dedicate some time to it.

Posting on sites in all CAPS, with bad spelling and bad grammar (probably because you are on the move), with no information on what you have, how you wish to sell, singular or bulk, where you are (UK I am guessing as you quoted 99p, but where), is not going to help you acheive your goal.

My advice, take it or leave it, is to sit down one evening when you have some time and get a list together of what you are interested in selling (phase it if you like, if you can't get to the back of the room, just list what you know and can see and phase 2 can be the other stuff once you offload the first batch). Then make yourself a guestimate on what price you would be happy to get for each item. Then post on here (or other places), your list of items (and condition if possible) and what you are after, where they can be collected from, etc..

But I honestly would recommend you refrain from posting on the move off the cuff for this type of thing.

    Hi there Legotastick,

I look forward to reading about your collection, we are all here because we love toys, after all.

I don't think Redbull was suggesting you do not use capitals at all, just don't write entirely in upper case as it makes it harder to read. Likewise writing without any capitals is also not ideal. ;)

I must say I'm rather jealous of your situation as I would love to spend a few days sorting through rooms of toys, however I'm sure in your situation it probably doesn't seem like a fun thing to do. I had to spend many days sorting through and selling my slot car collection that had got seriously out of hand a few years ago. I kept putting the job at hand off again and again, but once I finally threw myself into it I really enjoyed the sorting and listing.

    Good luck,

    Julian

    @ Legotastick,

If you are looking to specifically sell Lego sets on here, given you are brand new, it might help if you posted a link to your ebay account so people can see your feedback.

Break down the games, they have much more potential as pieces than as sets, however, don't do the same for the technic sets as they are quite valuable new and complete, there are many adult fans willing to pay for out of production technic sets.

If the game sets are the older minifig varieties like the Giant Castle Chess set or the Pirates Tic-Tac-Toe keep them complete as they are worth plenty of money that way.

    thank you fyrmedhatt

i dont have the chess set, not thru the want of trying tho! i missed the boat on that one. but i tryed :-)

    thanks again for your help

to the OP, you have some older sets there... something to keep in mind is that "asking prices" are not always "selling prices".

8002 is asking over $200 online, but that doesn't mean it sells at that price, or sells at that price very often.

How much work do you want to put into this? Getting the most amount of money from all of it, takes time and effort. Someone here would take it all, for the "right price", but you'd be leaving about half the money on the table. Then again, you would sell it all in one day, without any long work on your part.

    Many options... :)

what are you looking for for all of your lego? And where are you shipping from
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
I would be interested in any HP, Kingdoms/Castle or SW sets, when you get everything sorted/priced.

Sorry i didnt mean never use caps just not all the time it makes you seem way to excited about everything.

Lego Fan Texas has said it well with a collection that size to sell all at once would get you next to nothing for what it was really worth also posting or collecting would be a nightmare. Although I truck turning up at my house full of lego would be awesome.

By selling seperatly you will get alot more money for it but takes more time. And is ruled by how you list it as well as photos and condition esp if you put it on here no one like a battered box that was sold as MSIB. Id list on ebay start with a low bidding price and if its worth it it will sell at that price.

Sadly no transformers talk on here just lego. But im sure someone knows a site or google will tell you.

There is at least one Transformers fan on here: check out @mr_benn's picture in this discussion:

But no, you're right really, discussions of non-Lego products are verboten.

@Legotastick, looks like you've got a mammoth task ahead of you to sort everything out. Good luck with it!

    @legotastick,
Sounds like you have quite the collection. Still, as many have already suggested, i would say get a large list together and go over everything you have. If you want top $ for your items, you are going to have to put some time into this. Once you have the large list, "set, set#, quantity, MISB or out of box, completeness (stuff like that), post in these forums. Most likely you get a lot of large collectors snapping up many of your sets or figures. Whatever you have left you can list in an auction site like eBay. The more information, the better.
    Best of luck.
    Cheers,
    Sam

    hello to all

OP? Im only 37 lol ok im not super young anymore.

thank you all very much for your help so far, at a min iv spent 14,000 gbp in the uk on my collection over the years. & out of all the items i bought i only got ripped off once! i was gutted tho, as they say to good to be true lol i paid for two 10188 death stars :-) but they never turned up & i was given a false tracking number etc, but lucky for me i paid with paypal & got all my money back! but no death star :-(
all the lego iv got & belive me i honestly do have ALOT, well earned tho! iv never got a death star. but iv just got to own one

its been a long day so sorry if iv made any spelling errors etc im just tired. up late wraping my ebays sales, just sold about 50 minifigures i listed from series 1 2. but it is fun to watch the bids etc people do love the super wrestler lol 10gbp he went for, i though that was quite good?

trying to cover all post content, i would never sell my collection in one go, for many reasons 1 the low amount id get for it & 2 to see it all gone in one go would feel so odd? sad maybe but true. alot of time etc & money to collect. in this bit is a no no but il slip it in lol, in 2008 i took a very large van & alot of money, & cleared someones liftime collection of G1 TF that took me & a friend 7 hours to pack & load & filled 3/4 of the van! that was a long but great day :-)

then in 2009 i was lucky to find a family who lived next to legoland in the uk before it was even built & she told me that they went their every week & so they had alot of nice lego. she had to sell for £ reasons & i took it all. id just sold my motorbike so i treated myself bigtime. the lego bug just grew more & more. only plastick bricks! was that all about.. lol

like someone else said before about sorting etc, as i dont just have lego as you know
iv started to sell my TF now & im going to sell the vintage star wars / he man / ninja turtles & E.T /harry potter bits & bobs.
then i can sort all the lego? well thats my sort of plan. but i work & it does take time & effort that i will put in to get a good return, i hope.

sorry such a long message, & might seem abit scrambled. its great to meet you other lego fans. iv never talked much about my collections as my friends are not into it much, just our motorbike track days..no lego talk...
so it good to talk lol

thanks again to you all for putting up with me & my tales etc
    best wishes

    ALL CAPS SUCK

no caps at all suck just as much

When actually speaking in complete sentences, generally you should use punctuation and capitalization where appropriate.
