WIll it hold together on vertical display?
    Or
will you all need to Glue it, like the store displays?

Would it then no longer be a UCS lego set, or just a Hunk of Junk plastic? :)

Her: "How much was that beer?"
    Me: "$4."
Her: "The next 200 times you're gonna order a beer when we're out, get water instead. There's your Millennium Falcon."

I'm awarding myself the point for this round, but I still think I'm being tricked.

My question is where is TLJ old Luke and what set would he appear in?? As a matter of fact, where is General Leia?

They could be avoiding spoilers. Similar to how the first Kylo Ren minifig didn't have a face on his head. They didn't put out the one with a face until the line of sets that came out after the movie. There's probably a reason behind it not being in the pre-movie wave of sets.

I'd alike to know this too. From pics I've seen it looks to be about 56x48x37.5cm.

By that rationale, a 30-day hunger strike should cover the cost.  And walk to work for a week...

can't believe the euro price is the same as the US, it should be bang in the middle of the US and UK prices. euro customers getting ripped off with this.

I've had a thought, why not just have it on display like the LEGO Brand Store ones who have it on the side, maybe just get a custom stand built to hold it like that? Need too ask those stores for a closer look at theirs.
I saw one in a store today. I know people have said they're glued, but if this one is, someone built it wonky!

I suspect it really doesn't like being tilted at such an angle...

And yes, I'm also going to look at getting some kind of clear acrylic case or enclosed coffee table for this, before I build it. I do NOT want to have to dust the sodding thing...

Kind of expensive but for anyone in the uk:

I actually think £100 for that case is really good value. If you price up the perspex/acrylic and then bracketry its not going to be too far off. If you chemically bond the edges you do stand a good chance of making a pigs ear of it, so all in all £100 isn't bad to protect your pride and joy. I have no connections to the seller by the way, but I have made a lot of display cases.

In the Netherlands its even more. They did ad another 50 euro to the already high euro price,849 euro. No clue why almost all lego in the Netherlands is more expensive then it is in Germany but its pretty annoying.

Not 100% sold on the design either but the price is already to much for me so it will be relatively easy to skip this,no regrets.

Ok, haven't read about this, but when I was in the Lego shop today they informed me that there would be a special midnight release of the falcon at the Leicester sq store where the set designers would be signing their work etc. The event is meant to run 12 am - 6 am.

anyone else heard the same, and is anyone thinking of going?

I agree, I think it's pretty decent value too. £120 including VAT, and as far as I can tell, UK shipping is free.

I think it's a serious option. The only slight issue is that it's wider than every flat surface in my house... but then I suppose I'm going to have the same issue no matter what solution I go with.

I heard the same, it's the only reason I would consider getting one on opening day. Meeting Hans and other designers would be great! One issue I'm facing is how do I get home on the tube with the enormous and heavy box at that time? It's quite frustrating as I was looking forward to getting it during double points or another discount etc so have less impact from the £649.99 RRP. Now I have just over ten days to even get close to that amount...

I finally told my wife about my intentions of buying this and the price.  Surprisingly she said nothing, instead just proceeded to the closet and brought this out and said this is for you.

    ???

The chap in the Lego store today (Westfield) said they hadn't received their stock yet, but they had received the packaging to put each order in, complete with wheels... But even with the silly wheely-bin thing tubes, trains and the general crap of central London will make getting a very big and heavy purchase home in one peice tricky. But then again I wouldn't trust yodel to delivery safely if I order online.

I've never been to a Lego signing but given the offering here, I think it might be worth the effort.

Haha, I'm pretty sure I'd want those MSIB, depending on how they are given out / assembled :P

That company do a lot of cases for Lego models. I might have to consider a few - I have the Maersk Triple-E on display in my living room, for example. The case for that is only £34 before VAT.

Given that they do a case for this (£57 Exc. VAT):

I wonder how much they'd charge to do a case for this...

Their Saturn 5 case is pretty good too, its great that they do a vertical and horizontal case.

So you're going to try to carry a large heavy box AND a bag containing the wheels and handle, through central London in the early hours of the morning? ;)

I'm not actually that bothered about one for the Saturn V. I have mine stood up in a corner of the living room, so it doesn't have much surface for dust to collect on. Plus that surface is smooth and easy to dust :)

Wow, it's a great time to be a Leicesterite.

Has there been chatter of Hans and the design team visiting any other stores around the world, doing signings?

I wouldn't be able to afford this if the shipping-cost was any higher... I am so lucky!

P.S. This guy is great btw, he has some tremendous prices on other UCS sets. Buy quickly, he is known for his magnificent shipping fees!

I'll be honest, I'd feel a little concerned travelling through central London at that time with such a valuable set. An Uber to my flat from Leicester Square is only about £25 so given the value of the set it's worth considering.

As someone who has never purchased a set on day one, how is this going to work on September 14th? Will it be available for purchase online as soon as your respective country's first time zone rolls over to the 14th? Like midnight Eastern time in the US?

From my experience it takes some time after 00:01 to show in stock. I remember waiting for a set (can't remember which one) and it wasn't in stock online until the early morning. This was in the Netherlands btw (CEST).

I understand the desire for all the marketing pizzazz and that it's a capitalist marketplace, blah, blah, blah, but I wish they had done a preorder with a one per customer limit (initially at least).

I really want to pick this up on Day One, but at the same time getting Double VIP Points a month later is awesome. I don't use my VIP Points a lot so I might be fine with just getting $40.

Would love to go to Leicester Square at midnight and get a signed copy.. but risky wheeling a £649.99 box behind you. Any bodyguards free 00:00 to 01:00 on the 14th September. Would also be required to carry the MF box so I don't get my yellow wheels dirty on the London streets..

Tower Bridge is across the other side of London. I have a parts list available to view at any show I display at. There are no instructions though.

On another note, do we think lego has again changed UCS packaging given the new MF.  Note it has no badge/logo. It clearly states UCS. I'd be interested if they follow this design now. Disney has clearly had an influence.
  • Mr_CrossMr_Cross Member Posts: 1,672
I think the box looks really nice and I hope it's going to be a one off. I also hope they keep this set as a flagship and keep it in production for a good few years. To be honest, this set and the others I want from TLJ are going to bankrupt me, (there are more from other themes I want too but let's not get off topic) I'd be happier if there were more £15-£45 sets, not a criticism of Lego more just wanting to be able to sustain my hobby.
