Sunday spent car booting - not a bad little haul at all! £125 spent altogether

^a lot better standard than my local car boot sale.  Every time I go there's the same guy selling little bags with a handful of random bricks for £5 and very little else.

    #75149 Resistance X-Wing 45 EUR (Suprabazar, RRP 99,99 EUR)
Oh no, that was on my "only if <50€" list. I'm ignoring your post, if only because Suprabazar is nowhere near me ;)

Interesting how many people count the points being used as discount to a set; I myself calculate 5% (or 10%) discount on the set I'm earning the points with :)

^Most people that I know will count points like that as a discount off the purchase when they earn the points AND as a discount when they use the points. I personally only count such points as a discount when I use them, since they have no value until they get spent. The reason retailers offer points is to get your buying habits into a database and hope you never get around to cashing the points. Rebates are offered because many people will scramble to buy the item with the rebate, but often forget to actually claim the rebate after the initial purchase, and a rebate unclaimed is profit made.

Sure, but buying a 300€ set nets me 15€ in points so it makes more sense to me to mentally to picture that set as 285€ spent, as opposed to buying a 300€ set then paying 5€ for a 20€ set. To each his own, I suppose!

(My Excel sheets don't condone using the same points twice :D)

Yea, I also bought way too many SW sets this weekend.. 12 Imperial Trooper BP (9.90 each), 2 Hovertanks (22 each), 3 FO TIE (35 each), Xwing (42), 3 Scout Speeder Buildable figure (18 each) and a lot of other buildable figures in which a had zero interest a week ago, but €8 each was too good of a deal. I already have multiples of all of these sets so don't know how I'm going to display all of this.

2 weeks ago I bought the entire Ninjago Movie line.. Ugh Lego.

All the points do is potentially offer a discount on another, future purchase. That is why I don't apply them as a saving against the original purchase.

If I choose to no longer buy from LEGO stores tomorrow, the points are useless. If the VIP program is ended, the points are useless. An additional purchase is effectively necessary to benefit from the points collected. In that respect, the VIP points system is more restrictive than a rebate. You jump through the hoops, you get your rebate - no further purchase necessary.

It's also all to easy to count the points twice. The psychology behind that happening as well as other characteristics of the VIP program such as giving a relatively large number of points ("You get 300 points" instead of "You get 15 points and each is worth a $/£/€) are quite interesting.

    From Amazon Warehouse.
#70627 Dragon's Forge for £44.55. that is over 40% off. it said "Condition: Used - Like New - All purchases eligible for Amazon customer service and a 30-day return policy." so i hoping it just a returned item. as it don't say about why it's in the warehouse.

also if anyone is interested Amazon have the #70627 Dragon's Forge for £46.89 on a Price match with John Lewis. that is 37% off.
    well it turned up today.
it was a returned set. why was it returned you ask.
it got the "it's a box let's slap a shipping label on it and send it as is. there is no need to place it in a real shipping box to ship it." treatment.
in return it was sent back to Amazon with a note on the shipping label i can Just about read with out pulling off a blank shipping label over the top of it. and a return label slapped on it to add to the mess. the note said "WHY STICK A LABEL ON BOX WHICH IS A GIFT???. PACKER SHOULD BE IN SHAME" this is on the shipping Label and can read the Post code of that Label to. as well as the town "Westcliff-on-sea, Essex" i also have a house number and a street name. the only thing missing is the name of the man or woman. it was sent to. there is a blank shipping label over the top of that label but it dont stop you from seeing under it. or pulling said label off again.
the set had been opened, at both end's there is Brown tape on one end. that is not holding anything closed. there is ripped off lego open lego tabs that lego use to close the box at the other end. and both ends have been taped closed with normal clear tape.
the shipping label shows that some one tried to remove it. but only peeled off the box art.  that is more writing on the Brown tape that is quite hard to make out, but i think it said "had to open to put in return paper" it is hard to read as most of it rubbed off. and only the mark of the pen can be seen. the only part still showing are "___ to op__ to ___ in r_____ _____" i can only make out what it said from the indent the pen left.  the box has had a bat-a-ring (?) (yep i can not find the right spelling for that word.) with dents and scuff mark on the corners and edges. but the contents (aka the lego set itself) are all there and it makes a find looking model. the box on the other hand? well it still a box but it look's a mess.

It's still an awesome Set. and looks grate on my table.
if i can work out a way to add the building to my Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu display it would fit in well.
Why'd you keep it? Did you not care about the box?

^Since the set was bought as Amazon Warehouse deal some damage to the box was to be expected.

Being able to reconstitute the original purchaser's less-than-stellar buying experience is interesting. It showcases two issues with the shipping process Amazon is not able to address: returns not being vetted properly and shipping items in boxes not designed for shipping. It's consistent with experiences I had with Amazon. Then there's the address info still on the box. Troubling to say the least.

Today. from Amazon Prime Now. (got to love Prime Now.)
#21019 Architecture The Eiffel Tower RRP £29.99 Payed £17.99
    #21033 Architecture Chicago RRP £44.99 Payed £28.99
had been looking at Chicago for days. and days. but could not quite go for it.
however Eiffel Tower at that price is a have to buy and as i picked to get it with by Prime Now for same day delivery, i had to brake that pain in the ass £20 minimum Prime Now Spend. and Chicago, was the only set in stock that i had real interest in and felt like a good buy at that price.

could have picked United States Capitol Building but. at 22% off the saving is not quite right for me. (and i have No ware to display it. with out putting away some of set's on display right now.) anyhow Chicago was the next best discounted set i had any form of interest in and i did not own at this point.

    blogzilly said:

@blogzilly as @Kerre said, i know going into it, when i placed the order that there was good odd's the Box was going to be Just this side of Scrap. as it turned out the box it self was still box shaped, shore no self respecting shop would sell it at full price. (even with out the shipping label's on it.) but a 5% to 10% off would have accounted for that in a shop. yes i keep the box's but i don't Display the Box's. if at some point i sell some set's, (heven forbid that evil idea) i well get a little more for a set if i have the Box to go with it. in this case i get a little less for the not 100% box. but then again, this set has a dragon in it. i more or less have to be selling all most all my lego set's for the set's with a dragon in it to be up for sale.

@kaelthas when I click the link there's no blog there. You probably shouldn't have used the word lego in the title either. I'm not fully in the know why but others can tell you that it's something along the lines of the lego brand name is the property of the lego group. That could have gotten your blog removed.

Was trying to figure out how to showcase my buys this summer without clogging the thread. Was gonna roll stuff out, but I keep forgetting and then I get a new clump in. I need to catch up. So I built an image in an app. Call it an OCD need to get this off my plate, though there are more things too.

i put together a trade for a bunch of cool stuff, but my trade partner is still sending me stuff. When I get it all I'll put that in a single post too, but one thing that was neat was the original Falcon. Very...quaint.

So, here are some of those summer buys.

The Angler Attack box got beat up from bad packaging by Seller. This Seller was so cool she agreed to compensate me on my quest to replace box. I've built the 2 Astromechs, Statue of Liberty...essentially all the poly bags except the Nexo Knights. Built the Piggy Bank but as a rat or something.

Really looking forward to building some of these sets, but only just got back into building after 3 months off. Still trying to find time. My son gets really upset when I'm doing it (an Autism...I dunno what I'd call it, a quirk...I think part of it is that he so badly wants to build with me and can't and it frustrates him to escalation...a theory growing on me since when I play with Duplo with him he rather enjoys it).

But since he reacts this way, I have to limit where I spread out.

Pardon me if any of these pics were previously shown. Looked back and didn't see them. Have a small trickle of pieces I have not shot yet though.

Oh and sorry about Muppet Action figure shot. I got those too and kinda liked the third DST series!

    Thanks for reading...!

What's been the one set you've bought in the last 3 months that you are most excited to build and haven't yet!

@blogzilly- I quite like the composite photos of all those sets - looks good without using up too much bandwidth. I'm jealous of your R2-D2 model: still trying to work out if £15 is worth it for me to buy it from bricklink...

My most favourite unbuilt set bought in the last three months is a toss up between the Saturn V #21309 and the Technic Porsche #42056 , although I've also lost my Ford GT set #75881 somewhere which I'm itching to build.

Big sets are really hard to get going on... as evidenced by my recent posts in "What are you building right now?"

#10253 Big Ben which I got yesterday. a bit afraid it may be repetitive though

Ooooo...Saturn rocket is still on my Wish List. So many...I am almost afraid to calculate what I spend on LEGO annually. Well, my car is 13 years old. So I have no car payment...that's a very nice thing.

    @Fauch
Are their any LEGO builds that aren't repetitive? :)

Stopped in at the LEGO Retail Store in Las Vegas.  Very weird mix of sets - including some non-discounted Scooby-Doo sets.

One of the employees informed me they had 2x2 light gray tiles earlier this year on the PAB wall... but that someone bought all of them.  Three cases worth!

So... I don't know which one of you vultures is to blame - but congrats for getting there before I could buy them all.

I think this is why they rarely put good afol stuff on the Pick a Brick wall. They couldn't keep up if they did. Like my university cafeteria rarely put out good flavors of ice cream because they would get devoured in 1-2 meals. If they put lame stuff like banana nut it would sit there for weeks.

I did buy three (or seven) large PaB cups of the 2x2 tan tiles at the Disney Springs LEGO Store.  It's not banana nut, but it ain't quite the super-tasty dark gray 2x2 tile, either...

2x2 LBG tiles are in the store PAB here regularly, they never look sold out when I visit. Now if they'd put out DBG 2x2 tiles...

The pick-a-model at the Lego House shop contains at trans-lightblue 1x1 round plate. You can guess what that means though... I've seen people filling multiple large cups with just those.

^ Can't take the credit for this.  I vaguely remember an interview with a builder where he mentioned his wife bought him a sheet music stand as a present for the same reason.  Can't for the life of me remember who it was or where I read it (possibly an early issue of Blocks? mag).  Must've triggered something in the back of my mind when I walked past a stack of them in Aldi!  Decent enough quality for what I'm using it for and it folds away quite small into the included carry case too.

There was a couple on one of those Channel 4 (UK) Lego documentaries who did that; I always figured other people would pick up on it and do likewise...

@dmcc0 How do you keep the pages from flapping closed when on the stand?  I'm quite interested in this technique as 1) the manual takes up so much space that could be used for sorting/building and 2) the glare from my build light makes it difficult at times to see clearly.

^music stands generally have small pieces of wire a couple of inches long that fold up from the front of the ledge to hold the pages open.

not lego. nor is it for me. nor am i paying for it.
but my dad just asked me to "help him." (read: do it all for him.) to buy a new pc. asked him for a budget, looked for desktop pc's sold by amazon made by the selected pc maker. under the max price point. then looked for the best Deal VS PC gaming Power.
then picked one out for him. and got next day before 1pm shipping. it will give me time to "work on the dam thing tomorrow afternoon." (read: install his games for him.)
and to think for what he payed for that pc. i could buy #75192 Millennium Falcon and
#75190 First Order Star Destroyer and still have money to spend left over..... ah well i get to "play with a new pc...." (read: spend hours setting the dam thing up.)
