I haven't seen it mentioned much but the free Ninjago poster giveaway in Sept. looks amazing. I will order something just to get that.

Everyone loves a good poster giveaway!

Also, its looking like Ninjago City is NOT getting double VIP points.
Not surprising. I don't think I remember ever seeing Lego provide both an early release AND double points on a D2C set at the same time.

Well, then I guess there is no rush on picking one up today... which is what I was planning to do.

Any idea on whether Barnes & Noble will carry Ninjago City?
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
@Kerre Those duo packs seem to be time limited though, so I guess it'll depend when and if double VIPs arrive... :)
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 412
^Good point. Quite surprising to see sets discounted so quickly after their release though. If you're in the market for one of the combo's buying direct from LEGO is cheaper than buying from large retailers. That hasn't been the case very often in the past.

    It's exclusive to Lego Stores

And it will continue to be, as it is D2C exclusive.

It's like the modular buildings/Expert cars. You will only officially find them on the shelves at Lego Brand Retail stores.
  • dannyrwwdannyrww Member Posts: 1,394
The creator modulars can be purchased online from Target....not sure if Ninjago city will be.

And toys r us and walmart and amazon... Barnes and noble also has a web site and I just saw two copies of the silent mary at my local toys r us (not returns). However, I don't care about finding them on the shelves. That is so 20th century. =)

They carry plenty of the hard to find sets so I'm still hoping I can score one early with 10% off at least.

Forget Trump, forget North Korea, forget Brexit...

Is it Ninja-go! or is it Nin-jar-go?
  • nexandernexander Member Posts: 908
^ nin-ja-go, just like they say it in the show
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@Kerre Depends where you live whether those TLNM combo-packs from S@H are a good deal: e.g. buying the 2 mechs from Amazon DE is currently EUR 10 cheaper than what S@H is charging for the combo-pack in the Benelux. Similar story for the other packs.

Fairly certain we'll see 30% discounts soon enough, so I'm happy to wait a little longer :)

Where can I find links to the combos?  I remember seeing them at some point but didn't bother looking at the price because combos usually aren't a good deal.  Now I cant find them anywhere...  Lego site is just showing individual sets.

@stlux Agreed but those are quite specific cases. You really have to know the market like we do to check the Amazons. And in Germany the Mech pack is competitive again (99,98 EUR from S@H or if you can visit a German LEGO store).

I'm sure there can be other situations where S@H is not the cheapest.I also agree further discounts are inevitable. But my point was more about the level of discounts so early in the set cycle coupled with the Lego store seemingly going into competition with the distributors.

@Thoughtsonblocks seems to be a Europeans-only thing unfortunately. The SKU was removed from my cart after switching to US.

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the Quake Mech in this picture, which is disappointing because I really like Cole and his mech!!

I'm disappointed I bought my Ninjago City from S@H in the UK on Wednesday yet it still hasn't shipped. Should have gone to the actual shop. Anyone else having delays?
  • stluxstlux Member Posts: 2,450
@JRL That's fairly standard for S@H. My orders usually take 2-3 days to leave the warehouse (a different one from the UK one though). Standard S@H delivery times for the UK are listed as 3-7 business days.

Yeah, I was hoping it would be quicker. Should've gone with my gut. Cheers mate.

We ordered one Wednesday morning at 9 AM and received an email that the package shipped at 1 PM the same day from US S@H.  This the first time that has happened.  Maybe UK shipping will improve soon too.  Hope you get an email today :)

Same here.  Ordered early on Wednesday and that afternoon it shipped and is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow which is amazingly fast but I know US S@H recently switched warehouses so that could be the key.

I picked up #70611 Water Strider and #70609 Manta Ray Bomber from Walmart for $25 each and am blown away by the value in these sets.  They are both well built, attractive sets with nice play features and a very good minifigure selection for their price.  I cant remember the last time I saw Lego sets coming out new at such a good price, MRSP on both is still only $29.99 and WM just happened to put them on sale right away.  Looking at comparable sets, even unlicensed ones, shows the incredible value.  Just at a very quick, unscientific glance, #60139 Mobile Command Center, a 2017 City Police set, has a MSRP of $49.99 for 374pcs.  #70611 Water Strider is 494pcs for $25-$30.  And most of the sets from the Ninjago Movie line seem to be similar values combined with unusually high consistency in build quality.  Add in the 20% minimum discount you can usually find at some point during the next few months (and that already exists at WM on the above mentioned sets and the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon) and I dont think I will be able to stop myself....

You are fortunate :) We live on the opposite coast, so we have to wait until next Tuesday. :(

Just grabbed the water strider, I mean I'm not really into ninjago but at 24 bucks it's a solid price per part ratio. Hoping the movie hooks us in.

Has anyone else not found the Ninjago CMF anywhere? I've seen them nowhere around here, not even my local TRU. Yet, both TRU and Target have the movie sets in stock.

@CaptainLego and @CaptainRogers I found a box at two different Barnes and Noble stores today in Colorado.  Might be worth a check for you as well as I have never seen them at B and N here before.

I finally saw some CMF at TRU and Wal-mart this week.  Barnes & Noble has had them for a couple of weeks.

@Roobot I love this layout and idea I hope to do something similar with my city layout and have an oriental part of the city that's tranquil with gardens.

I saw the CMF at B&N, TRU, Target, and of course, the LEGO store.
  • Haven't seen those pop up either. There should be at least 4 Brickheadz coming next wave/year.

TLNM din't have a separate thread like most other CMF series so I made one - http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/27013/71019-tlnm-the-lego-ninjago-movie-cmfs#latest

not into ninjago and not inspired to make an exception. the regular ninjago sets have relatively high part value to cost ratio and I wonder if that will hold true for these.
as usual for CMFs, there are only a couple I want.

@Roobot my first thought about Ninjago City was that it's modular scale. cool to see that in action though modulars aren't my thing.

So does anyone have the Walmart UPC handy for #30379?

Can't seem to find anyone mentioning it.
