[US] Is the Recycling Truck (4206) a Retailer Exclusive?

Has anyone found the Recycling Truck (4206) in a retail store (other than LEGO) in the US? It is listed as "Hard to Find", which usually means an exclusive, but I didn't expect it to be this hard to find.

I have not heard what other reatil store has the exclusive to it, but Im guessing it is usually one of the big three in reatil, Target, Walmart, or TRU...
Not sure though as I have not really be scanning stores lately.

Just saw it last night... I went to a few stores but I'm 99% sure it was Walmart that I'm thinking of.

I also saw it at Walmart though the box was not specially labeled. It is pretty great looking.

I've only seen it on walmart shelves. No 'special edition' stripe on the box.

I like it too, it just seems $5-$10 too high. Garbage Truck is just too good of a deal at $20.

Yep, I saw it yesterday at Walmart. I don't know if it store exclusive.

Thanks, everyone. I do not frequent Walmart—the last time I was there was about three weeks ago and I didn't see it. I'll have to stop by one.

Under it's Brickset description, it does say exclusive to Walmart....

^ that appears to be correct. I have not see the set at Target or TRU, only at WM.

I too have noticed that none of the Store Exclusives are marked as such, which is weird. 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor is listed as "hard to find" also. I believe it is a Target exclusive as it is the only place i've seen it, besides the Lego store of course.

Are you thinking of the green garbage truck (set 4432) perhaps?

^^ Anakin's Jedi Interceptor is a Target exclusive. And, is truly hard to find. I was fortunate and got one the week they came out. It was the last one on the shelf. Then, the next week I checked and once again there was only 1 on the shelf. One corner was cut and marked up, probably why it had not been bought. But, that worked out for me, because Target will give a standard 15% mark down if the box is messed up. So, I got it for 20% off with my Red Card. Haven't seen any on the shelf at either of my local Targets since. So, it is hard to find. :-) Wonder if it will stay that way? Personally I think it is the best SW 2012 set so far.

^ and why would anyone get the two mixed up with the recycling sign all over the garbage truck? Really not sure what they were thinking on that one.
  • lulwutlulwut Member Posts: 417
Hmmm, I think Lego might have put a few of the 2012 City sets as retailer exclusives in the US. I Just noticed that I have only seen set 4205 (Off road police command center) at Target and 4430 (Fire transporter) at TRU.

@Jenni, better a recycling symbol than a picture of a big pile of garbage with flies emanating from it I guess :-)

@madforlegos That is unarguable :). Possibly leaving it blank may have been less confusing though.

Come to think of it, I believe our garbage trucks are plastered with the recycling program artwork, it's more advertising than designation though.

not that it was still in question, but in our latest lego club magazine, there is a picture of the recycling truck with the text "only at Walmart" next to it.

I noticed the new "store exclusive sets" no longer say "special edition" or "ecxlusive" on them. I wonder if Lego is doing this because maybe eventually other retailers will carry them?!

I picked one up at Walmart today. Last time I remember Walmart having an exclusive, it was #3222, and it disappeared from shelves pretty quick in my area anyway.

^ I picked one up tonight as well because my 2 closest WM's actually didnt have any when I went in just to see if anything good was on sale so I made a trip to the next closest stores and got one.

^^^ That's a good question. While we rarely if ever see an exclusive jump retailers in one market, that doesn't mean it can't happen. If I recall correctly, the Dwarves Mine started out as an exclusive and then went widespread but I am a little fuzzy on that. I know mine says Limited but later ones did not. Perhaps dropping the label is simply to reduce worldwide box variants since a retailer exclusive in the U.S. doesnt mean it's also a retailer exclusive abroad...
