I went to Ridge Goodman yesterday and am going back today. Here's what I saw and what I think of resale potential.
6 #70225 $23 - definitely
3 #10539 $16 - barely
opened #10604 $12, #10570 $16 - no
The toy section is smaller (one shelf now has pillows) and there was no more actual LEGO, just some Chima lunchboxes.
(side note, I liked Chima fine, good parts packs and my son dug the characters but I don't see any aftermarket potential for sets)
I ended up returning it because it wasn't selling and I needed the cash. I wasn't parting out back in February, but that's what I'd do with it now.
MSRP discount often isn't correlated with profitability, so I check each particular set.
Modern sealed sets can be hard to sell because of shipping costs and a crowded market.
Constraction and perhaps some other sets are heavy on specialized parts hard to sell separately
Anyway, I rarely check the store near me since it usually just has MegaBlocks and worse. However, I was in there for something else and found a bunch of clearance DUPLO. I checked prices and went back, got 5 #10605 @ $10.99 and 9 #10819 at $9.99. Also 4 #70330 for $5.99, maybe. Some #70743 for $6.99, nope.
saw a bunch of clearance duplo at mine, #10824 #10605 #10603 #10819 been occupied with other deals and waiting for this to come down more
#70316 spotted at TJ Maxx which is owned by the same company as Marshalls. The price marked on it was $38.
I haven't noticed any pattern to when they mark down stuff or mark it down further.
Their regular price is white sticker, intermediate clearance red sticker, final clearance yellow sticker.
(by $38 I meant $37.99 exactly like you guys have seen)
#71221 Wizard of Oz Dimensions Fun pack at $2, that can't be bad.
If anyone is in Pittsburgh they had a whole box of these at the waterfront TJ Maxx for $1 a piece
I loaded up on these (about 10) for $1 each as well two months ago at TJ Maxx.
Finally in my price range
Some disney princess stuff in with other stereotypically girly toys, similarly some superhero brickheadz in with other superhero stuff (rather than a lego section)
$7.99 too much for 1 brickhead, #41618 for $11.99 is a maybe. #41151 for $8.99 is too much but #10762 at $9.99 is a surprisingly good deal because of all the figures, printed pieces and rare colors
I got these today at Southtown T.J. Maxx.
1x #41618 Anna & Olaf $7
4x #41617 Elsa $4
#70699 $31.99
#70662 $7.99
#75183 #41288 $19.99
#41453 $11.99
#41287 #40274 $14.99
#41456 $31.99
#41454 and #41350 $23.99
#41157 $24.99
#41354 $4.99
Lots of #41451 #41452 $5.99
Nothing great for resale/parts packs but good if you want those sets personally
At the Southtown store I got
4x #40270 Valentines Bee BH - $3
2x #70837 Sparkle Spa $22
There were a few other sets at similar discounts; a couple Unikitty and Powerpuff Girls.
@Huw or @drdavewatford, would you mind changing the thread title to “[US] Marshalls/T.J. Maxx” ?
