Could be the subcontractors printing for them forgot to include?
I've experienced such incidents in my workplace back then, whereby the sample product box printing came back with errors or missing info etc, usually we will ask them to make corrections. Maybe TLG felt the errors are minor (i.e. Non-legal binding) and hence let them through.
The sand green tower is another 15 or so bricks tall!
Quick look around my desk:
- Saturn V has the name and piece count (obviously)
- Temple of Airjitzu has the name, no piece count
- Haunted house has piece count, no name
- RC Tracked racer has name, no piece count
- Horizon express has neither
- Friends bumper cars has neither
So it is indeed a bit hit and miss (and I do concede only 2 of them are actually recent ones...).
When I saw the pics at least I didn't consider them out of the ordinary.
I personally like to see piece counts and set names on the box although not necessarily on the front on the box.
Funny that after the video ended, there is a big Lepin thumbnail right at the center among other video thumbnails.
Here's a screenshot, in case it is region dependent.
Managed to replicate the crab restaurant's grilling function in the upcoming Ninjago City set. Also did my own take of the brick build COMIC letters within the 10-stud width.
I had to say there are lots of interesting functions on this level. Still thinking should I do the cash dispensing function for the ATM machine.
eww. I'm never eating there
Walmart still had the temple discounted at $80 but I guess they're going with $100?
As far as I can tell, at least from the photos, play features missing in my version include the ATM money dispensing function (I had a door just behind the ATM from the crab restaurant leading to a corridor balcony) and the sliding elevator. Also, yet to create the furnitures in the level 3 bedroom and the fishing boat.
The bonsai is now an overgrown sakura tree, probably need to trim it a bit. I've added some gumball machines.
The sushi conveyor belt works if I turn it very slowly, I'm using the tire friction method similar to the ferris wheel, else it will get stuck 3/4 of a full turn. Not sure what mechanism the actual set will be using to make it move smoothly.
Fantastic recreation, by the way! :-)
For me, the enjoyment is in building it, especially trying to figure out the techniques used or how to replicate the design etc. So after fixing the whole thing, it kinda dampened the excitement of wanting the official set. However, the other major attraction for the set is obviously the list of minifigures.
The same goes for the Assembly Square which I've recreated way before the product launch, till now I've yet to get the official set, and the minifigures didn't help much in convincing me either since they're all generic City minifigures. :)
"Buy me, sid3windr.. buy me!"
Great work btw. I wonder how much you're off designwise to the original. Will you compare when it comes out?
I think mine will be heavier as I use standard bricks for internal structures, maybe I will download the instructions when available to check out the sushi conveyor belt, the room where the bonsai resides (it's supposed to be under construction according to the descriptions), and internal of the level 3 room and attic. :)
Those of you interested in Oriental buildings might want to check out some of the older Ninjago sets. :)
