My status is LEGO disappointed. Not feeling at all well, I didn't check my emails this morning. I have been frequently visiting the LEGO House website every day since May 31st, hoping to buy a ticket for day one. This, after following progress since the beginning, and attending the topping out ceremony in October 2015. Signing up to the newsletter a second time after they rebranded/changed the website and didn't carry my original sign up over. My accomodation in Billund booked months ago for it.

And so, I missed the email. And there isn't a single spot for Thursday, September 28th, the day of opening. :o(

I've bought a non refundable ticket for the Friday (day2) but I wanted to experience the opening day aswell as any preview I can attend. I booked my trip especially for it. 2017 sucks.

(Oh and btw, the ticket process contains a flaw, don't have a change ticket link that doesn't allow you to change your ticket, ie day, time slot, instead only allows you to add on LEGOLAND, which I don't need since I have an annual pass for Billund already, yep you guessed it, because of the LEGO House opening this year!)

I've written this in hope that the tickets for opening day weren't available this morning and that there is still a chance for them, but it is a tiny hope in a galaxy far far away from Billund. The House of Lego_Star is not happy.

    GrumpyAFOL rant over.

Sorry to hear about your disappointment @Lego_Star :(

Maybe Sept 28 is reserved for people who have won tickets? (LEGO House Newsletter) Possible @drdavewatford knows?
  • Lego_StarLego_Star Member Posts: 2,144
    Thanks @stlux

I know it might seem stupid to some but I don't expect to take in all the LEGO House has to offer on one visit, and because I attended the topping out ceremony, which was mostly attended by those that live in Billund and not fans, I have been thinking about opening day for nearly two years. I even talked to Jamie and some of the other designers about it as we walked round the construction site that day. They just happened to be visiting at the same time as me which was super cool. I took photos at various stages of construction too and was hoping to add one of me around the keystone brick on opening day. Just part of my AFOL story.

It's stupid really, I shouldn't be spitting my dummy out, not when the world is in such a terrible state. I just was really looking forward to it, is all. Logic dictates not everyone that wants to and is able to can visit on opening day.

Because I had to sign up twice for the newsletter due to the rebranding from LEGO House to LEGO House - Home of the Brick, I'm not certain I'm in the draw because in the terms for the competition, you could only sign up once. I was signed up for the newsletter since July 2015 but didn't receive any information about the change of the website. Instead, I read about it on brickset front page. I signed up again, only when it was apparent I was no longer receiving newsletters despite following the progress for a long time and well before it was revealed ticket sales would begin in June.

Nice! Still waiting for a good deal on that U-wing myself. Looks like a great set.

    @SumoLego must be
    a) Really desperate for space
    b) Unable to get his wife of his back, even when showing her pictures of my hauls
    c) All of the above

Or of course he's just his generous self :)

(I apologize if this has been brought up  before)

While organizing the Star Wars Microfighters, I realized that:
    - The PT has 6 sets.
    - The OT has 6 sets.
    - Rebels has 4 sets.
    - RO has 4 sets.
    - TFA has 2 sets?! Where is the love for Rey?

Also, Series 1-3 consist of 6 sets each, but Series 4 has only 4 sets? (based on consecutive set number as Series 1-3 are).

    Are Microfighters going away? :-(

I must not be the only person impressed by all the studs sticking out at right angles in all those different colours - it looks really cool! Thanks for sharing @snowhitie !

Yesterday I found a Black Panther Pursuit set sealed for £12.99 in a charity shop! Finished building it tonight and really enjoyed learning the technique for attaching the wings at an angle to the body of the jet. It's very sleek and very swooshable. Great minifigs, too!

My daughters school was closed today (polling station) so I was at home all day with her plus one of her chums. Chum was quite impressed with my various sets (I have hot dog truck and pizza truck and ice cream van set up like they are a food fair)... but then they start taking bits apart... mixing sets with random bricks... changing heads and hair on the minifigs...
    I stayed calm though. Just!!

The two spiders on the left and right seem okay. The poor minifig in the middle though seems to be in the midst of a Facehugger attack.

I'd really love to see a nice dark blue spider piece, I mean sure it isn't realistic, but who said LEGO had to stick to real colours? Last I checked there are no All Red Spiders in our world, some have red markings and such, but I don't believe we have red spiders. And why didn't they bring back the giant ant piece for LEGO City Jungle? We need more Giant Ants LEGO. I keep missing the sets with that piece in it, first Indiana Jones and then Ant-Man. *SIGH*
  • JudgeguyJudgeguy Member Posts: 17
^Funny coincidence, I was trying to find all the pieces from my Indiana Jones Jungle Duel set which includes several ants. Recently I have been attempting to rebuild all the deconstructed sets that I have such as Indiana Jones Motorcycle Chase, Jungle Duel and Ambush in Cairo.
I really regret letting them fall into disarray in the first place.

Today I am taking apart several of my useless battle pack vehicles like the ones from the recent Rogue One battle packs, the battlefront ones and the new bounty hunter speeder.
What I really want to do is to get all the pieces to build a BARC speeder or AT-RT of my own design.
  • OdeinoichusOdeinoichus Member Posts: 361
My one regret is not buying any of them except Ambush in Cairo because it was the cheapest one. And then they sold out like hot cakes. That and the fact that LEGO retired Ant-Man so fast I got whiplash for putting off picking him up so many times. *SIGH AGAIN*

My hope for the weekend is to finish building #21305 Maze, a set I got for and started on Christmas but then had to put away due to a need to move.

Also need to find the wedding Lego sets for my marriage in September.

they should do it in black and glow in dark and do a new monster fighters serie. though a spider temple could work too, kinda like spider secret from 1999 (but bigger) where minifigs have to go through huge webs

@snowhitie Watch out with the swooshing though, Lego employee was doing that in Wijnegem and it, umm.. encountered a minor but still painful rapid unscheduled disassembly :o

@Lego_Star and @Adzbadboy: Promobricks' articles (here and here, in German) on the LEGO House clarify that tickets are indeed only available from Sept 29. Sept 28 is an evening special opening gala only, with access reserved for those people who have won tickets through the newsletter.

Not sure whether they have already announced the winners for those tickets, or if you still have a chance @Lego_Star? Rooting for you!

I have been synchro building the Saturn V this week with @snowhitie which has been immense fun. Bag 11 on Friday turned up another missing piece which is so annoying as I think this is my favourite ever build. So many great techniques and amazing how strong they have made it. I would recommend the set to anyone.
Good luck everyone for the bonus ball and hoping that they twist will add a bit of extra fun

Got ready to build (a sealed) #10730 Lightning McQueen Speed Launcher and found an Imperial Death Trooper helmet loose in the box when I opened. The helmet is the one found in the #75156 and #75165 sets.

First time I find a part that does not belong to the set.

I will just give it to the #10236 Ewoks to add to their drum set or maybe to Ezra Bridger for his collection ;-)

I wonder if they're compensating for the low price/part ratio by skimping on their bagging machines... I 'm up to bag 10 now and I've got a lot less spares than I'd have expected while building. Had to use a spare 1x1-round-plate-with-hole from another bag as I was missing one (where I'd have expected a spare, still, so that's technically 2 down from usual practice). I did get a random LBG technic bushing that's not even used in the build at all, though...

    Lego status: embarrassed.

While constructing #76021 The Milano I thought I had my first experience of a piece (4626667) missing from a set, even after what I thought was extensive searching. I raided the part from another set to complete the model, and went to TLG's Bricks & Pieces site to get the missing part.

Turns out my searching skills are severely lacking today, and it did in fact turn up a couple of hours later... Fortunately the nice TLG CS rep was still able to cancel the order.

I've had this issue with Lord Business' cape in the lair set, turns out that pack got stuck inside the box at the side I didn't open... Also had to cancel a while later. Oops.

@bendybadger You built a large and expensive set like Saturn V at work? That takes some serious guts.

Thanks for that awesome picture - it turned an awful day into a much better evening. Wish I had a hoodie like that for certain days at work (I'm here, just not available)!
My backorder has now changed to 'in warehouse' - sure hope this weekend offers me the chance to build this majestic model!

Managed to back out of my garage at such an angle and speed as to rip off my passenger side mirror. A neighbor kid was riding past on a bike right after and made a horrified face. At least he doesn't have to pay for it...

    Oh no, just this one.

I couldn't imagine extracting a pin and discarding some other poor keychain to make a Frankenstein custom keychain.

(Besides, they'll probably make one in 2019 when the MCU movie is released.)

I just built the Belle brickhead. I found the hair construction to be rather enjoyable and neat. My family and I also found a nice house to move Into so now we can finally open up the Disney Castle, new Ecto 1, the new Dimensions sets, etc, etc,...

Finally figured out that the 1x1 grey nosecone with a stud on the bottom, which I found under the Lego shelves and put aside because it'd obviously fallen off something but I couldn't see where it was missing from, was the tip of one of the engines on the Magnaguard Fighter.  Seriously, that's was bugging me for three years.  Must've rolled clear across the room from the old Separatist shelf.
I so know this feeling. I now have 10 parts in a special little box, and no idea which bagged sets they belong to... I think 3 are from #4504, 2 are from #21104, and the others... no idea. And darn it, it bugs me!

Today I picked up a few new SW & TLBM sets, and my backordered #21309 Apollo Saturn V has finally shipped. Woot woot!! I have not been this excited for a set in a long time. Ooooh I can't wait. Smile
