Due to the fact that there seems to be increasingly less from the trailers actually turning up in the films (looking at you Rogue One) this time I'm not that bothered with hunting down the latest peeks at the films.
It's turned out to be quite a refreshing state of mind to be in and will be at the cinema on day one expecting nothing but an enjoyable couple of hours.
    Roll on December.

Just purchased these from monofigs.com, as a Star Wars collector I thought they looked really cool.. and a limited run it seems.

I posted this back in February, it seems that the above is now sold out, but now there are two more sets just released.

I think they are really cool, especially the droids..

who makes these?  are they authorized by LEGO and Disney/Lucasfilm, or are they illegal IP infringement of both the Minifigure and the Star Wars IP?

Monofigs.com, based in Denmark. They are actual original Lego figures cleaned down to the base colour. Have a look at the website, they have a book on the process.

On the main brickset.com site they have had articles written by Huw before on the main monochrome minifigs.

The trailer was underwhelming. @Bumblepants - the next trailer will probably reveal everything, so I'd be careful! @Jackad7 - I have no idea who Grey Jedi are, are they in the cartoons?

Thanks for update.  Glad to hear they are legit in what they are doing. I did look around their website once but didn't see anything about the parts origin/process

Yes, the black and white cartoons. Honestly? I don't know either, are grey Jedi neither purely light or dark?

I would be a Puce Jedi.  (Or maybe a subset of the Taupe Jedi Order?)

I am honestly not interested in the Episode 8 Lego sets but the last season of SW Rebels and Rogue One hold some promise (Blue Squadron X-Wing, OT Tie Bomber, AT-AT, AT-ACT, Rogue One and the Imperial Star Destroyer Chimera).

Grey Jedi are those that don't follow the code of the Jedi Order and sort of "walk the line" between the light and dark sides of the force. They are not evil or Sith, but they also don't buy into the whole "no emotional attachments" and other teachings that being a part of the order requires.

The concept was introduced in the Legends canon and has slowly been working its way back in as Disney rebuilds the universe. I'm pretty sure Ahsoka Tano would fall under the category of a gray Jedi, having left the order and started walking her own path.

I'm personally kind of excited by the idea. One of many things I loved about the Clone Wars series was it showed how flawed the Jedi order actually was as a concept.

^ This is why I am opposed to the return of Mace Windu. The teachings of the Jedi do not entirely reflect the Light Side by the time of the Clone Wars and Order 66 is a perfect analogue for this. Yoda and Obi-Wan are the only Jedi who seem to realise that the Order has strayed and are accordingly the only Jedi to survive uncorrupted.

Right? While I get the fantasy elements of a whole good vs. evil thing make for exciting storytelling, the idea of force users who follow their own path seems far more realistic. Especially in a universe where there may only be a handful of them who are aware of their power and have an idea of how to even tap into it.

I dont think they are going to grey jedi route now that I have rewatched the trailer a couple of times I think Luke is going to be depressed about the result of his jedi order resulting in Kylo Ren and how the Jedi order resulted in his father turning into Darth Vader. I think having the Jedi order end would be an extreme cash grab disney isnt going to go to.
  • VorpalRyuVorpalRyu Member Posts: 2,318
Extreme cash grab? What? You mean like regurgitate Episodes IV & V with pretty, shiny, fresh packaging say this is the 'new.' Yeah, Disney would never make an extreme cash grab like that...

...would be an extreme, 'Cash grab Disney'...
sorry between my phones autocorrect and the lack of a comma that sentence came 180° from what I intended it to mean.

I might be in the minority who dislike the director choices for VIII and IX, but especially Colin Trevorrow (yes, Jurassic World made $1.6 billion, but it wasn't more than a very disposable popcorn movie). I'm sure I'm wrong about Johnson (Looper is an outstanding film), but this trailer (which yes, is an evolved copy of TFA's first teaser) did not really do anything special for me.

The problem, I think, is Rey and her family history. So much focus has been put into it (by fans and speculators) that it is distracting from everything else. We knew where Anakin came from, either from the virgin birth or by the theatre scene in III (or hey, maybe we didn't care), and Luke's family didn't matter much until Empire (for obvious reasons).

We have basically narrowed Rey's story and focus into who she is and who her family is, rather than where she is going (which ironically is similar to what Maz told her).

For me, this trailer, is a good teaser. We get a lot of Rey and some Luke (thankfully), but nothing really did excite me. I think the worse shot is the Millennium Falcon scene. The scene with the new ships stirring up the red dirt reminded me a lot of Star Trek (and not in a bad way). The actually coolest part was the beginning, for a moment I thought the shot was of Jeddha...I was actually way more excited about Rebels season four, but that's for another post.

My gf got me rays speeder 75099. Its my favorit starwars set by far out of the ones that have been released recently and its the only one I have other then super star destroyer ucs. (hoping that new falcon is not a joke and that it will really come)

It almost feels like an ucs set!  It is so well designed and it looks so nice. Anyone else who thinks this set is absolutely awesome? I hope lego makes more sets like this, cheap but great looking and very well designed.

... hm, so the TFA was a total copy of and previous movie... and now the new trailer is a total copy of the TFA one??? Well I am afraid, that if the new wave will be only sets from SW 8 it will be a total pass for me. But in other hand, it will be a big save of money as from the upcoming sets I like only the Vaders transformation and that Hunter battle pack.

The new hyper drive ring is the one from episode two! This gets me really excited because I am willing to bet we are going to see a jango fet slave 1 in the next 3 years.

Does anyone know if there will be a future set with K-2SO in it?  I'd like to get this droid, but do not really want Krennic's shuttle.

yay mate... you again know something... on and on, I hope there will be something interesting since the summer wave is almost whole a pass for me and since the new SW movie does not seem very "WOW" thing ... I don't expect anything interesting in the movie wave too.

Having now seen the reviews I think I'll pass on #75182.  I think the only set from this wave I'll be getting is #75167.

I think I'm gonna get #75167 (how can you pass up those figs) #75183 (same thing plus this was one of my favorite sets as a kid) #75817 (if it turns out to be any good) and #75190 (if it turns out to be any good)

It may be small, but we haven't gotten an Aayla in ages, Republic Fighter Tank is going to be tops on my list of summer sets to get. I may even nab two of them just because I like the overall design of the Fighter Tank even if it is a bit smaller than the Clone Wars iteration.

I really thought thwy did a good job on this batch. The hyper drive ring, fighter tank, bounty hunter battle pack ans darth vader transformation all have solid buys in the figures and I really like the scout trooper buildable.

#75167 has such wonderful minifigs, and the speeder doesn't look that bad either, but Bossk looks like a cheapskate with huge holes in his socks (or boots) with all of his three clawed toes sticking out, on each foot!

It really is a missed opportunity; TLG should have given this reptile dual molded legs if you ask me. The sleemo walks around on bare paws.

as I have seen other images around of the BOSSK the yellow should be darker I guess

Could have used dual molded arms too, the sleeves of his outfit ended at the elbows.

Speaking of Star Wars, when can we expect the next TT video game? Will it be Episode 8 only like with Episode 7 or can we expect Rogue One content as well? Enquiring minds want to know.

I guess they aren't produced at the right factory. at least star wars figs often get the best helmets and molded heads.

Well the next one is LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2... then another one based on something else coming out this fall... maybe 2018.

Just wait for one to pop up on eBay. It happens quite often and can be had for a reasonable sum.

since I am not a minifig collector its not really bothering me, I am more curious if there will be some set based on the original trilogy (IV,V,VI) or only for episode VIII ?
