You know what would look good now is a Mr Gold. If you could just introduce one of those I think you'd be most of the way there to perfection. I'll take a proper look later and see if there's anything I like on the shelf. ;)
And because I went through the self checkout, I didn't get any cards with my initial purchase either. I'm sure I could have asked for some, but as I said, I'm not collecting them...
The little car is nice, though. And the minifigs have nice heads that I don't already own, so I'm very happy with this set.
But a brick separator? In an £8 set? Like I don't have enough of those, but I guess I can see why they included it if they're expecting kids to rebuild.
A "suck it" display?
To make this post relevant to this thread (not that that is really a requirement...), I found these in my mailbox on my return home:
This completes my collection of Dimensions sets - 100% complete until the upcoming Wave 8 sets are released.
So thank you Lego for making my return to non-holiday life great :)
Sometimes you got to take the good with the bad (I'll leave it to you work which is which)
Anybody idea who the guy in the middle is?
:)
Building the #75019 AT-TE and had a visit from @sid3windr and daughter yesterday, always good to meet a fellow Bricksetter. That was fun, thanks for stopping by.
Then my son wanted bad cop's car rebuild (had been bagged and boxed), I dutifully did that. Afterwards he decided he wanted to learn to be a master builder and made some 'alien bugs. He said he's not as good as Emmett but maybe I could put his build on my legoforum, so here we go ;)
Built the Penguin Arctic Roller today, and the Wedding favour set - I needed 2 well-dressed figs for my horse/carriage combo, and I do like the extra hair and head pieces that went into my spare minifig parts bin :)
Brilliant thanks @Legoboy
After a week (they were kind enough to hold the sets for me since I was the first to reply to the ad) I got a mail saying that they now had found all the minifigs and I could come and pick up the sets. Great!
But of course, too good to be true... Of a total of 24 MFs for the 7 sets, 11 were missing or just wrong (Ninjago figure in a Z-95 for example). I spent an hour there yesterday evening helping them search a big bucket of Lego for the missing figures. They were convinced that they were there since the sets only had been displayed and never played with, but still some MFs were gone.
And of course the ones missing were among the more expensive ones getting second hand, Leia from 9495 and Aayla from 8098 for example.
Another oops-failed-to-mention-that-in-the-ad was an 8088 that had spray paint dust all over it after sitting in their garage while they spray painted something. Skipped that one, too much hassle trying to clean it.
Still, I got 8098, 9495, 9497, 75004, 75041 and (not SW) 70701 for just over €110 so I'm still pretty satisfied about the deal. Just so frustrating when you're promised complete sets and you realise they know nothing about what they're selling.
I guess they're heavier as they're not hollow? So OK to reliably machine-weigh...
But at least I just clicked onto my profile and found out I have exactly 2,017 likes, so thought I'd immortalise it in a screenshot. I'll leave you to figure out why 2,017 is a special number ;o)
(also, if anybody is wondering, my avatar is one of my own paintings)
Actually, TLG have provided spares in some sets, 26 set for the black & 18 for the red, although the last sets that did have spares were released in 2013.
'Stupid Boy' status today - washed the sticker from a recently acquired #10174 in my eagerness to build it. That'll learn me then :-(
I could weather the AT-ST down with discoloured and different greys for that beaten / worn look, although that seems sacrilegious for a UCS set...
At least it would match the sticker...
J. Smith & Sons Marketers doesn't have that great of a ring to it.
When I first organised my collection on Brickset, I checked 7134 A-wing Fighter as owned because I remembered it so well, but I didn't find it when I last rebuilt my Star Wars sets (I kept the parts all together for years), and nor was the instruction manual with my other ones. I did spot the canopy, which convinced me it must be out there somewhere, but as time passed and the instructions never turned up, I convinced myself I must've got the canopy in a bulk lot.
WELL.
My mother is downsizing, and yesterday I did a frantic keep/rubbish/donate sort in my old bedroom at her place, and what did I find in a box of travel games, but the instructions to 7134? (Also: the 2000 Lego catalogue, which I assume will be full of intemperate circling and ugly (uncircled) Jack Stone sets.)
Should maybe have changed my profile picture to a happy Unikitty...
I hope at least some of my posts were interesting/helpful/entertaining!
Well that someone was my landlord and now I'm torn on what to do. I was just told I have to move out of my apartment in a couple of months and have next week off work where I'd planned to build the remaining sets: #10255 Assembly Square, # 70912 Arkham Asylum, #75827 GB Firehouse and #10220 VW Camper Van.
So next week, it's either that or disassemble and pack up already built sets and wait a few more months before I can build anything new again. I've read a couple of threads on here about people moving house and being told to pack everything as soon as you can since it takes longer than you think.
What say you all? To build or not to build, that is the question.
Or compromise: build whichever set would be easiest to bubblewrap and box up once built (I'm guessing that's the VW Camper Van), but leave the rest for the new place...
E-mailed customer services and they very helpfully said that the order seems to be lost but they will replace the order, which they have done, but..... guess what, the freebie R2... not showing in the replacement order.
As this order was placed to get the R2 I am somewhat miffed.
Contacted customer services again and am now awaiting a reply.
In the time since contacting them again though, the replacement order status has gone from "in warehouse" to "contact customer services" which seems odd and as I didn't see this status untill after they had shut a bit of a pain in the arse.
Seems to have been a bit of a major cluster f*** all round really. :(
Major rant over - apart from that I'm peachy and just built the new landspeeder. :)
@vizzitor, personally I wouldn't build until moved, easier to move boxes than builds and let likely to lose parts that way if it has to be a bit of a rush job.
I've submitted my application for the LEGO Design Internship in August 2017.
