    Much better @SumoLego.

You know what would look good now is a Mr Gold.  If you could just introduce one of those I think you'd be most of the way there to perfection.  I'll take a proper look later and see if there's anything I like on the shelf.  ;)

I cycled to my nearest "big" Sainsbury's and picked up 3 x 40256 Create The World sets and for some reason, the card book, even though I'm not a regular Sainsbury's shopper and won't collect the cards.
And because I went through the self checkout, I didn't get any cards with my initial purchase either. I'm sure I could have asked for some, but as I said, I'm not collecting them...
The little car is nice, though. And the minifigs have nice heads that I don't already own, so I'm very happy with this set.
But a brick separator? In an £8 set? Like I don't have enough of those, but I guess I can see why they included it if they're expecting kids to rebuild.

If you use self service tills you have to ask @omnium. Same with the school sports vouchers which I kept forgetting to get - no football in the playground this term then (they keep losing balls over a wall)!

    @SumoLego Why two ice dragons?

They're placeholders for the original Ninjago elemental dragons.  (And there were a bunch of extra, but broken Ice Dragon display cases.)

Looking forward to when the house is quiet tonight; I plan on dedicating some "me" time to the LEGO room...along with a strong drink or two.

BrickLink is giving me headaches at the moment, can't find a single seller that has a decent amount of the parts I'm after....well apart from a couple of sellers I'd need to order over AU$100/140, which is more than I budgeted for (although with their prices it won't take much to do).

Picked up a couple of  bags of random parts at a car boot sale found this mob in amongst them

Sometimes you got to take the good with the bad (I'll leave it to you work which is which)

Anybody idea who the guy in the middle is?

    ^ definitely fun.

Built the Penguin Arctic Roller today, and the Wedding favour set - I needed 2 well-dressed figs for my horse/carriage combo, and I do like the extra hair and head pieces that went into my spare minifig parts bin :)

After organizing (well, if you can call what I did organizing) and sorting two #10697 XXXL Box and two #10702 Creative Building Set, and then looking at my old #4128 XL Value Bucket (Freestyle), I have come to realize that buying the 'new' boxes is not as good as the old ones, especially for the diversity in colors, which don't really help, at least for me.

Sometimes it can be frustrating buying used Lego sets. A bit over a week ago I replied to a sales ad, where they had a few Star Wars sets among a bunch of Lego sets for sale. I asked if they were complete with all minifigures, and got a reply that they were not at the moment but they would try to find them in their Lego boxes.

After a week (they were kind enough to hold the sets for me since I was the first to reply to the ad) I got a mail saying that they now had found all the minifigs and I could come and pick up the sets. Great!

But of course, too good to be true... Of a total of 24 MFs for the 7 sets, 11 were missing or just wrong (Ninjago figure in a Z-95 for example). I spent an hour there yesterday evening helping them search a big bucket of Lego for the missing figures. They were convinced that they were there since the sets only had been displayed and never played with, but still some MFs were gone.

And of course the ones missing were among the more expensive ones getting second hand, Leia from 9495 and Aayla from 8098 for example.

Another oops-failed-to-mention-that-in-the-ad  was an 8088 that had spray paint dust all over it after sitting in their garage while they spray painted something. Skipped that one, too much hassle trying to clean it.

Still, I got 8098, 9495, 9497, 75004, 75041 and (not SW) 70701 for just over €110 so I'm still pretty satisfied about the deal. Just so frustrating when you're promised complete sets and you realise they know nothing about what they're selling.

Existential question: why do you get extra bits of all the technic small things except the red ones?

You also don't get them if they come in black.... :D

I guess they're heavier as they're not hollow? So OK to reliably machine-weigh...

A bit sad that some of my LEGO budget has now got to be allocated to a new mattress instead, those things are expensive! Well, I could have the best of both worlds and have a LEGO mattress but I doubt it'd be very comfortable...

But at least I just clicked onto my profile and found out I have exactly 2,017 likes, so thought I'd immortalise it in a screenshot. I'll leave you to figure out why 2,017 is a special number ;o)

Actually, TLG have provided spares in some sets, 26 set for the black & 18 for the red, although the last sets that did have spares were released in 2013.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
That may indicate their machines got better after 2013, no? Just guessing, I haven't though about this before heh. Though I've had other parts where I wondered the same thing.

Hey guys. Not been able to post much recently - life has got too busy! But I've managed to start building some things over the weekend (not much, but I'll post in the relevant forum for that). Bit sad that I couldn't afford enough SW to get hold of the R2 model. And that's about it.

'Stupid Boy' status today - washed the sticker from a recently acquired #10174 in my eagerness to build it. That'll learn me then :-(

^ That's a weathered patina.  AT-ST is an all terrain vehicle, after all...

I suppose I can say it adds character :-)
I could weather the AT-ST down with discoloured and different greys for that beaten / worn look, although that seems sacrilegious for a UCS set...
At least it would match the sticker...
  • YodaliciousYodalicious Member Posts: 1,366
^ Gotta be honest...I like the look of the weathered sticker that much better. It's vintage.

With all the rumours of a new UCS Millennium Falcon, decided to part out #75105 for MOC parts (not a hard choice, as I have no interest the 'new' SW trilogy). Also have a full set of Series 17 CMFs thanks to another member of the OZLUG FB group, which is cool because now I just have to pick up some extras for a few of them (especially Rocket Boy for the classic Space torso).

On the last page of this thread, I said "Someone just TRY to wipe this massive grin off my face!" about working through building everything in my backlog.

Well that someone was my landlord and now I'm torn on what to do. I was just told I have to move out of my apartment in a couple of months and have next week off work where I'd planned to build the remaining sets: #10255 Assembly Square, # 70912 Arkham Asylum, #75827 GB Firehouse and #10220 VW Camper Van.

So next week, it's either that or disassemble and pack up already built sets and wait a few more months before I can build anything new again. I've read a couple of threads on here about people moving house and being told to pack everything as soon as you can since it takes longer than you think.

What say you all? To build or not to build, that is the question.

It pains me to say it, but I'd say don't build. Moving, especially when you didn't choose it and the timeframe is tight, is just such a physical and emotional energy suck that you'll probably find you want to keep things as simple as possible. Of course, it depends too on how much stuff you've got/how much of a problem finding a new place is going to be.

Or compromise: build whichever set would be easiest to bubblewrap and box up once built (I'm guessing that's the VW Camper Van), but leave the rest for the new place...

After visiting @snowhitie last weekend I've now pretty much decided I want to buy the #71040 Disney Castle. As it was released in October of last year, I'm hoping it'll still be available beginning of next year...

I'd say...Do not build. Take your time disassembling and packing everything well, rather than doing a quick packing that might damage or get your stuff lost.

  • khmellymelkhmellymel Member Posts: 1,313
Another vote for do not build, sadly.  When moving stuff around having more stuff out just makes it that much more frustrating,  at least for me :-(

Utterly pi***d off, had not recieved my order that was place using my vip points from [email protected] on the 29th.
E-mailed customer services and they very  helpfully said that the order seems to be lost but they will replace the order, which they have done, but..... guess what, the freebie R2... not showing in the replacement order.
As this order was placed to get the R2 I am somewhat miffed.
Contacted customer services again and am now awaiting a reply.
In the time since contacting them again though, the replacement order status has gone from "in warehouse" to "contact customer services" which seems odd and as I didn't see this status untill after they had shut a bit of a pain in the arse.
Seems to have been a bit of a major cluster f***  all round really. :(

Major rant over - apart from that I'm peachy and just built the new landspeeder. :)

@vizzitor, personally I wouldn't build until moved, easier to move boxes than builds and let likely to lose parts that way if it has to be a bit of a rush job.

vizzitor  Keep the sets unbuilt but unpacked, you may have a day when you just need to build something, rather than the seemingly endless packing.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. It looks like a week of bagging and boxing awaits. Maybe I'll take apart a small set and rebuild it again, just to feed the itch when I just can't take any more.

Don't worry @vizzitor, until we get our Lego room sorted out & finished, the only building @xiahna & I have allowed ourselves is event exclusives & any second-hand sets (just to check they are complete).
