For every one Walmart that has good deals I'm guessing there are 4-5 that do not offer any such deals. As others have noted, apparently economical health of a location plays a huge role in which stores discount heavily and which do not.

Sometime you just have to get lucky. Back before Christmas I was checking out the clearance aisle at Walmart and there was a worker at the end of the aisle re-tagging items. She announced that she would mark anything with a clearance tag in the aisle down to $1. No Lego, but I ended up spending around $30 on tablet screen protectors, usb chargers, and a refill for my SodaStream.

While my Walmart seems to have removed the price-check scanner, today I found an end cap marked clearance with:

    #70910 Scarecrow Special Delivery $10

    #70902 Catwoman Catcycle Chase $10

^ That's a good one :) Reminds me of how Barnes & Noble's site still lists all kinds of retired sets at RRP. None (well, hardly any) are actually available, of course.

They only had new Elves stuff at my Walmart. No sales like posted above. So sad. I already have the Elves sets, but at those prices, I'd get more. I want to make my daughter an Elves playset.

Ymmv but found the lego Batman movie batcave #70909 for $45. Only one store on my area had this price but might be a sign of things to come.

Scored the stunt show set for $40.00.  I Forget the set number but over 50% retail.  It was on an end cap in a Walmart off 501 in South Carolina on way to the beach.  I think they had a few more left.

^Coming up at $25 at all the Walmarts near me in Raleigh, NC.  Great to keep an eye on though... at $5 it's a steal!
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
When I did the math (as most of us do, to get a ppp), it came to less than a cent per piece, so it was a no brainer.

There were six and decided only to get three, since I wanted others to take advantage of the deal ;). I'm still not sure if it is a mistake on their part, or they wanna get rid of them.
  • datsunrobbiedatsunrobbie Member Posts: 1,830
^Certainly looked to be on purpose at the store I visited. They had a cardboard display rack like the one in your picture, with #10702 for $10 and a Duplo set for $25. Sorry I did not even think to get the number on the Duplo - I think it may have been #10817

Only 1 store in the entire area, per Brickseek of course, that showed them listed at $10, and they're sold out. Everyone else is showing them at $25 (which still isn't bad I guess).

I was about to drop some cash

Found one that had it listed for $2.5.  It was ZERO in stock.  Otherwise I'd have told my boss that I suddenly felt ill and have to take the day off...

Needless to say, sold out now at that price. Was it through Walmart, or third party?
  • mathewmathew Member Posts: 2,099
It was through Walmart.  Made the mistake of posting it over on Brickpicker.

So...I had an item being set to pick up in store and the status says that UPS tried to deliver it and no one was there for delivery. At 4 in the afternoon, wth?

Pick-up in-store has been a hit and miss for me...last Thanksgiving I ordered one of the cheap TVs online to be delivered in-store (ironically enough, I still ended up going to the store on Thanksgiving opening night...always fun).

The item gets to the store but it's not sorted out, so I wait one day, then another, then I decided to contact customer service. They tell me to call the store so that they could 'scan' the item so that it shows that it is available for pick-up (remember, the item has already been delivered to the store), but instead I decide to go to the store...as always, big mistake.

They 'could not find' my TV, even though I showed them that the TV had already been delivered to the store and so on; all this, while I am seeing a box that has the TV that I ordered behind the counter where the lady was trying to help me...I argued, back and forth, couple of minutes, and then they 'gave me' one that was 'another customer's TV', blah blah blah.

My theory is that they sold or gave someone else my TV (or maybe someone was gonna make it 'disappear') or that after three or so days, they still had not opened boxes (which I don't think happened). Either way, a box for a 55" TV is bigger than you think it is.

    TL;DR: Walmart's pick-up in-store feature is usually a hit or miss.

Bought those $5 ones you got for $12 at my Walmart.
Problem was the seals were all broken. (They could be easily broken)
I had to check if the bags were all there (they were).

No special sales, only new thing I see is approximations of Target's sales on some Friends sets, without the BOGO 40% off Target has
  • datsunrobbiedatsunrobbie Member Posts: 1,830
Walmart #2954 (Norwalk, CT) still has 12 of #10702 listed for $12 each in Brickseek.

Thanks for letting me know, I just ordered. Although I have not seen all the Freemaker episodes, it is a highly entertaining show, I love it. Had been waiting for a good price for this set but I guess less than $30 with tax is OK.

I live less than 3.5 miles away in the same street, it's not much better...you get all the temptation and you 'drop by' to see if there is anything new in the clearance section haha

josekalel - considering that is almost 50% off, I'd say that is more than OK. I rarely see that good of a sale on any set, let alone a SW set. Granted, I already picked one up at 50% off from Shopko earlier this year. But I haven't seen that type of sale on any product since.
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
@Sethro3 I don't think I have seen any good in-store deals at Walmart lately, especially since a few months ago (or has it been a year??) with the 50% off LEGO SW sets and such.

It's also been a while since I have seen good deals at clearance at any of the six Walmart stores I usually visit every couple of weeks for deals. What's worse is that some items on clearance are still more expensive than what Amazon has them for.

Yeah, slim pickings these days.  Managed to find some Joker battle training polybags for $1.50 and a PS3 Dimensions starter pack for $22.  Good news is the CMF series 17 were out and unsearched...woohoo!
  • josekaleljosekalel Member Posts: 683
Thankfully, the store closest to me has not run out of CMFs (there's still some S16, TLBM, and very few Disney), so as soon as they put them out I'll start fondling tactilely searching for the ones I want.
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,354
Saw 44 S17 bags, first I've seen of that anywhere, wasn't expecting it so soon.
Will wait til I see em at Target and at least get redcard discount. Might go back to WalMart for them when I have a better idea of what the rares are and how to identify them

Interesting. I thought it'd be one of the duties these retailer jobs performs for Lego.
    https://www.lego.com/en-us/careers/search-jobs

Only sometimes.  Lego has oscillated between having their Retail Merchandisers run events, sometimes third party demo folks, sometimes the staff at the store.

Lego doesn't like to pay overtime or give the Merchandisers extra time to run these events on weekends.  You also have to remember there is one Retail Merchandiser assigned to a number of stores in the same region, so coordinating make-and-take events can be difficult if advertised for the same day.

Nice, may have to check out Walmarts around my area for that price. Was thinking about it and if I really want to get most of the 'rogue's gallery' of Batman villains, I probably should get these guys too

Found 70738-1: Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty sitting on the self.  I've noticed it for weeks now.  Every time I scanned it it came up ask attendant, and when I did they said 120.  Today I asked a manager about a markdown ... She marked it down to 50$ ... SOLD!

Went to a couple of stores, none had it for that price. I did find some polybags with the U-Wing and the Batmobile.

Yesterday I saw two #40125 Santa's Visit and a #21026 Venice on the shelf. Not sure how any of them ended up in that store. Must've been online returns. But they didn't even have the decency to discount them. All at RRP :-(

I stopped at a local Walmart and found they had marked the buildable figures down. I picked up the only Phasma they had for $10. The other figures were Death Troopers and Rey.

Walmart.com has 15% off 2-day shipping items (Max 3 items).

Used it on #21030 and #21028 for now.
