Hi everyone
I wasn't able to find any discussions new or old that answered my couple of specific questions. For those of you that have done it, is it possible to sub 1x4 sand green bricks in place of 1x8s? And if so, does that up the number of 1x2 Sand Green bricks that would be placed on the ends of the wall?
Also, the 1x2 with groove bricks seem to have a higher number on the parts list than are actually used in the façade. This leads me to believe that some of them are used within the build where it's not obvious that they're the modified brick rather than a standard 1x2. How many of the groove bricks are actually used? It's hard to tell from photos.
Any advice on either would be appreciated. GG is the only one I don't have.
Thanks!

I bought several Hobbit 79018 sets when on discount and used the sand green 1x4 from them in place of the 1x8 on the GG. Don't think it's currently in a built state though to take photos of, as my young boys have taken apart most of the modular.
Substituted plain 1x2 instead of the grooved bricks... waiting for a set to be released with sand green 1x2 grooved bricks and then will replace at a lower cost than they are currently!
Yes, there's about 4 or 5 used on the interior, where a normal 1x2 brick could be used instead. I forget how many though - look through the instructions to count them.
In terms of the 1x8 bricks, I substituted half of them with 1x4 bricks, and half with 1x2 and 1x6 bricks. So I ordered (from memory) 50x 1x4 bricks, 25x1x2 bricks and 25x1x6 bricks. That provided enough variation to be able to build it fine. Substituting them doesn't alter the number of 1x2 bricks you need elsewhere in the build.
I like the awning colour in your version and I also like the two buildings next door. Are they your design? They go so well with the green grocer. I too am planning on substituting light bluish grey for the sides and masonry bricks for the grooved bricks. I think the masonry bricks look great with the normal bricks lining the windows as you have done.
The orange one is the Modular MOC Ice Cream Store, I found on ebay, from the Unique Brick. Scroll down the whole listing for better pictures. The main pic shows the rear view for some reason.
Apologies to @MrJackson for the thread derailment.
