    That review is here: http://www.brothers-brick.com/2017/04/04/lego-71018-collectible-minifigures-series-17-review/

Good to hear that there's 3 full sets in each box, and the mystery character is not limited at all. Whatever is up with that. I guess we'll find out soon enough from TLG's PR department.

I see from the review that Lego short changed on the female minifigs as per usual :-(

Classic space torso in LBG? Yes please! Looks like there's a good distribution of figs per case as well.
I'm already imagining some of the figs were going to see with that leopard print G-string on the Strongman...

^ I can see it paired with the yellow Slave Leia torso very nicely. And don't forget the sumo LEGO torso for the fat guy a the beach that shouldn't dress that way.

@CM4S Oh, I know I've missed out on some pretty great minifigs so far, but I'm very much a completist so starting down the CMF could be bad for me. That said, I think I can pick and choose the ones that interest me starting with series 17 and not be dragged into the world of packet fondling.

Hopefully one day in the future I can set up a dedicated Lego room with a cityscape. I plan on having a fairground in there (I have the Ferris wheel and mixer) and for some reason I really want the Friends hotdog van as part of the scene. However, I have no interest in the Friends minifigs, so was stuck with an empty hotdog van. If this series hadn't contained that hotdog seller then I would have walked on by. It's like they knew I was after this particular minifig. How do Lego do it?!

maybe the mistery guy is what you see. a monochrome black minifig.

wish the dwarf and elf were fleshies. I like them, but they really only fit with LOTR stuff.

^^^ That might be the right price. Check current Ebay going prices and they are getting close to that for series that are already out.

Wasn't the mystery figure already been identified as the Highwayman.
  • MAGNINOMINISUMBRAMAGNINOMINISUMBRA Member Posts: 993
    ^ Yes.
Also confirmed that it is NOT connected to a licensed property or other in-house theme. TLG have placed an embargo on reviewers providing further details until the series general release.

    ^
Not much of a gimmick for the mystery figure to be 5 per box.  At least the minimum per box should of been 3, but 5.....that's a fail.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,526
Maybe next time they will embargo all 16, so not only are the bags (supposedly) blind, but nobody even knows what might be in them.

this may be the first set I don't pre-order...lots of easily identifiable pieces on the figures I want so even I should be able to feel those
  • madforLEGOmadforLEGO Member Posts: 10,788
I pre order solely because I do not want to stand there to feel for two whole sets. I will feel for those extras I want though.

Maybe they just fill every bag with 5 random minifigure parts so every one is unique?

^I thought something similar. It could be that they don't show what the Mystery Figure looks like because they are all different prints (or there are a lot of different prints). If this were true, then it explains the 5 per box, as major collectors will want all the variants.

Has the price in the United States been confirmed for these CMFs? Is it $4 per figure? If I've missed this info then I apologise. Looking to buy at least six of them and want to budget some money for May 1st :-)

I'm assuming that the mystery figure is just LEGO exploring the marketing gimmick used by other blind bag toys.

While AFOLs are likely to find out prior to buying parents aren't so getting the mystery figure feels like winning a prize in a way.

Symbolism, its a black hole minifig with a penchant for money.

Or LEGO are not displaying the full range to stop alternative plastic toy manufacturers copying the figures, and offering a full set before LEGO release them.

    http://brickset.com/article/27458/cmf-series-17-which-is-your-favourite
(Lately I seem unable to paste a working hyperlink in my posts here on the forum!)

I chose the Elf Girl. I would have liked this minifig even more if they
had given her proper printed minifig legs, which would have made her
more versatile (pose her walking, sitting, on horseback etc.). Anyway I
like elves, that is why I picked this figure. Even though I like the
dwarf, pastry chef, rocket boy, butterfly girl, French dude, gladiator,
hot-dog/milkshake vendor, retro spaceman about just as much. Ooh I also
like the surfer dude, veterinarian, corn cub guy, dance instructor, and
yuppie a lot. Don't know what the 'mystery' highway man / robber will
look like, but I am pretty sure I will like that one too. Only minifig I
don't care that much for compared to all the
others is the circus strong man.

I think this series came out way too close to TLBM, but I'm glad it's gonna be out soon. I will get a set and see how it goes...the Hot Dog Guy is my favorite.

^ Mine is the retro spaceman with the hot dog guy a close second.

^^ timing is no different to any of the CMF series. Normally 4 months for three series per year.
  • sirrich69sirrich69 Member Posts: 531
Yep! Jan, May and September are the normal release dates for collectible minifigs.

Unless you're in Australia, then it's some time before April, some time before July & we said September, but it could be October....maybe even November.

It surprises me that the poll on the main page has the mystery figure's favoritism at 4th  (13%) despite only having a shadow outline of the figure. Whatever Lego's marketing idea was, seems like it has worked.

I personally love the look of the rocket boy, and the grey classic space shirt really brings the figure home.

He's a lovely figure, indeed. But why the mystery? Is there something else to the highwayman?
  • LuLegoLuLego Member Posts: 1,010
That torso printing looks great. Love the detail of the buttons.

^ Gold's been done...silver's been done...I think the highwayman is covered in Swarovski crystals...don't quote me though ;-)

I'm also amused that no one (that I'm aware of) picked the right neck accessory. Particularly now that you look at the silhouette again and it's quite obvious (and even more so considering the subject matter).
  • redarmyredarmy Member Posts: 741

It would have been great if the minifig were coated in VantaBlack (the world's blackest black):
    https://www.surreynanosystems.com/media/images-videos
Then the silhouette images would actually look accurate!
  • MAGNINOMINISUMBRAMAGNINOMINISUMBRA Member Posts: 993
^ considering the subject matter - it's a LOT more obvious than the epaulettes most were predicting.
